Beetlemama....tell your OH he can have whatever I leave...my lovely border collie Kerry has been missing for 10 days and I would pass on to him my leavings of whoever knocked her down/shot her and didn't even call me so that she could rest with my other deceased furry friends.

Hi fuddle I missed you and wondered about you often
Hi mardatha. I missed the place but sometimes you need a break from MSE. I've completely lost my frugal way tough since being AWOL so need to get it back. All this talk of Energy prices possibly being hiked again when we're still experiencing cold weather is worrying. Normally in May it's warmed up and I begin to recoup some of my winter spends on heating, I'm still adding to it at the minute!0 -
Welcome back Fuddle - lovely to see you back posting. I know what you mean about the energy usage. I read my meters yesterday and I've used more gas in April/May this year than I used in October last year:eek::eek: Can't believe I'm still wearing woolly sweaters about the house at this time of year.0

Hi everyone!
kidcat thanks for that! I did actually order a replacement glass yesterday and it came this morning! So pleased, a perfect fit and my lovely cooker is now back to normal! I must be more careful in future.
Think I will be using my little oven a bit more now though, because I found it really good and it's a bit easier for me to get to, being the top oven. I have arthritis and find the bottom oven a bit tricky (probably part of the reason why I dropped the door). I should have really considered this when I bought the cooker, but I liked the look of it and my heart ruled my head on that occasion.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Just doing my shop online for Sainsbury's. Free delivery spend over £100 so figured i'd buy my meat stuff, bread, milk etc - anything that will last or freeze.
Anyway I need your help if you canThey have 2pint bags of milk on offer with a free 'jugit'.
Can I freeze the bags of milk (I've frozen milk in cartons before with great success).
What is your opinion of the jugit/milk bag idea. Have you tried it? Does it support the frugal ways?0 -
Well done on your bargains PP! My tesco never has good reductions anymore. When I was in there late a week ago, instead of reducing the bread/rolls, they were stuffing them into a purple plastic bin bag. Has anyone else seen this happening? They can't be binning them surely?
The last reduction I had was a punnet of blackberries. Originally on 2 for £3, it was "reduced" to £1.49, bargain!0 -
fuddle - my nan used to have milk bags when I was little and she always froze them, I cant see it being any different now.0

Yes we used to get milk in bags too and we always freeze milk because we havent got a wee handy corner shop to pop round to
It will be fine.

fuddle I used to get milk bags (which went in the free jugit) from the milkman. I loved them, as did my teenagers - they were always very excited to see "lovely squidgy bags of milk!!" in the fridge
It was cheaper than buying milk in cartons or glass and much easier/better to dispose of the bag. I never froze the bags but can't see why not. I stopped using them when my milkman kept leaving bottles instead of bags with no explanation or apology and then didn't collect the empties  After the third time this happened I stopped using him I'm afraid
But I would whole-heartedly recommend you try them!

Thank you for your feedback on the jugit bags everyone. I am now ready to send my order with the nice warm feeling that I have milk for the month and not too much of a worry on how to store multiple cartons.
I have missed the organisation and fuzzy feeling of trying hard to cover all the bases while I've been away. It's so easy to slip into easy come easy go or get mixed up in what you think you need when really you don't need different shower gels for different members of the family but a bar of soap.
That's £129 spent for the whole month on pretty much everything I need to make meals and items that can be frozen. That leaves fresh fruit and veg to be bought as and when needed.
Going to look into the box scheme again as it's not any more expensive than my local coop I feel. The less I have to spend in there the better my purse will be.
Here's to control, watching and providing for families... I just wish I could turn the heating off now, it's really bugging me but my little one is here with me and I feel awful because it is cold here. I'm thinking of bring the electric heater down for this one room. It might be false economy though. Please let the weather warm up soon!0
