Fuddle: how cold is it where you are? I know that I'm a hardy sort with no spare money for luxuries like heating but I've not felt the need for yonks and yonks.
Penny-Pincher! That's a truly fantastic haul. There's a Mr M a bus-ride away but I have no idea at what time they do the ruthless reductions or even if they do. What time did your OH get there? When I poop in there in the day-time they appear to think that a 25% reduction is attractive when it's the "sell-by" day. Not to me, it ain't, I want much more than that. Also, what's wrong with those "Danish loaves" I've never heard of them. Not that I'll buying any now that I have my trusty, darling £15 bread-maker from the charity-shop.
Excitement! We're enjoying the most dramatic thunder-and lightning with the heaviest shower I've seen in a long time. I feel so very sorry for the little birds trying to raise their broods with this foul weather and the cold temps. At this rate they will still be laying and trying to raise young to fledge right into the autumn.0 -

Yes, we've just had that too - well, very strong winds instead of thunder etc but LOADS of rain in a very short time - gone in about 10 minutes.
BTW might your behaviour in Mr M account for the lack of offers?
"When I poop in there in the day-time .... " Sorrybut it gave me the best laugh today :rotfl:

Hehe, if I'd really done that they would have shown me the door or called the police. Doncha just love the odd typo?0

In Kent we've just had the most terrific hail storm and the hailstones are laying on the roofs looking like snow *If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. My favourite was when a colleague wrote to the high-ups to protest staffing changes that would affect staff mood, etc - unfortunately "lack of morale" came out as "lack of morals" :rotfl:"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0

I've worked for a couple of firms whose owners/directors have definitely suffered from "lack of morals"I just take comfort from my belief that karma will eventually catch up with them...

We've had northerly/north easterly winds/gales on and off for weeks. It blows right through the house and is very cold. I'll be the first to admit that I am quick to put the heating on but I don't see it as a luxury. I see it as an expensive necessity with two young children about.
We're all really different, that's why it's great to come here and pick up tips and try to learn how to make do better or differently.0 -
You're not alone fuddle, we've still got the heating on here. We put it on constant and just let it cut in when needed, mind you I've 2 littlies on the floor playing (DS just turned 1 yesterday and DD is 3 but disabled and not walking yet) DS sleeps in a sleeping bag but DD is so restless in bed that without the heating on she'd just keep waking up cold so very much a necessity! Mind you this house isn't half as expensive to heat as the old one - combination of a new boiler and better insulation/less damp - the old place was half the size yet the bills were twice as much!
Must go and make the kids tea - they're having carpet picnic tonight as OH is writing his essay on the dining room table (not literally as it would make it very hard to email to his tutor - lol). I'm going out to our sewing group later so must cut my new bag out ready to take and then we're going to have the leftovers of the takeaway we treated ourselves to on Sunday after DS's party - not MS but there was no way I was cooking after entertaining all afternoon. (and it was yummy)0 -
 OMG, I would have entered orbit if that had happened to me. I'm on the groundfloor but the cat was invisible as it'd jumped four feet straight up from the pavement and tried to hurl itself through the window. It was only open about 3 inches so it fell back, but it still almost resulted in a Tena-Lady moment.
My Nan was once startled by the family cat (a huge all-black mog) which had been shut outside by accident. During the night, he somehow leapt from an outhouse roof to their bedroom window, caught the little open bit at the top with his claws but couldn't get a purchase so hung there, spreadeagled against the glass, screeching like a demon. Poor Nan and Grandad..............! It was about 50 years ago but she's never forgotten it.
I nearly had a 'Tena-lady moment' laughing at that! :rotfl:I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Yayyy, fuddle's back! I was wondering where you'd gone and was toying with the idea of clicking onto your name and seeing when you'd last logged on and wondering if that was a wee bit stalker-ish................:rotfl:Actually, I'd never bother to stalk anyone online as I'm far to busy watching the neighbours.;)
Dunno how it is around your way but the going rate here is £200 for a kilo of brown and £250 a kilo for crystal. And that was just me hearing a passing dealer yakking on his mobile. At the current rates of inflation we'll soon be paying as much for our groceries as they do for Class A drugs.
I shall be sowing some exotic poppies on my allotment. They are a legitimate seed packet and I hope that they aren't anything with interesting pharmaceutical properties. One of my lottie neighbours used to take the sweepings from his FIL's aviary to add to his compost bin and some of the seed must have dropped near the gate as he took it onto the site. He didn't notice what had germinated until it was about 2 foot tall and let's just say that he would have had some explaining to do if the Plod had noticed it.
Had a funny old day with a lot of stress in the salt mine which triggered IBS symptoms which started to ease as soon as I crossed the mine's threshold. We've had lots more unsettled weather but seem to have missed this spectacular storm which you speak of. Had hail yesterday teatime, though. It's so weird that the countryside is all green and verdant and looks just like early summer and it feels more like early March.
I fear that I may have to do the dishes this evening as have been putting it off for a couple of nights and things are becoming a trifle cluttered in there. I tried asking Nursie but she gave me her patented thousand-yard-stare and I didn't like to take it further.
I gave her the use of the broom cupboard in return for tea-making and other light duties in a moment of weakness some years ago and have never been able to get rid of her for any length of time. Even SDG sent her back again.
Ah well, at least she's company for Henri D'Vac now that I have managed to shoehorn Gollum the Slowcooker, complete with box, into a kitchen cupboard. I'd like to say that this has made my wee home much tidier and better organised but that would be a downright lie.:p
ooooohhhhhhhh, the sky has gone a strange yellowish-grey, I think something may be about to happen.
Right, girding my loins to face the washing-up mountain. If I'm not back in a day or two, please send help, I may have drownded in the suds.
