Hi guys, does anyone have any clues as to what could cause lower back pain, to the left, which I thought was muscle pain, although as far as I knew hadn't done anything to cause it. It eased up a little yesterday and I thought it was improving, but it's come back with a vengeance today and is very painful when moving and quite a lot of underlying discomfort when not moving. It feels more inside and goes down into the left hip area. I know you cannot diagnose but not sure if just to take painkillers or go to drs. Could it be an infection? I don't feel well either.
Just so annoying as had planned so many things on my free time as well as the fact I have a pet sitting job at the end of the week.
Bobby, you went to Italy?Tell me more.

Hi, Byatt
just delurking to say that in my very humble opinion, covering up pain by using painkillers is only ever a short term thing, and certainly isn't a resolution for the underlying cause. It sounds to me that you've been in pain for a few days, and I think you need a visit to the GP, my dear.
Sorry....

I'm afraid I can't contribute anything sensible to the discussion on "board and keep". Other than weekend jobs, my DD only worked for the summer before she went off to uni. At the time, I asked her for 30% of her income (of which I kept a small portion and the rest I gave her back to set herself up at uni). To this day she maintains that I ripped her off!
Back in the mid 80s, when I first started work, my parents charged me a whopping 50% of my salary to live at home . It was cheaper to buy a wee flat (albeit in a not very nice neighbourhood) and enjoy being independent...so that's what I did...
....maybe that's what they hoped would happen.....:(:o0 -
Hi Byatt,
Just delurking to say sounds like diverticulitis to me which I suffer with. Pain can be anywhere from under my ribs down to pelvic area on left side .
It's easily managed usually, but best go to doctors and get checked to see if need antibiotics. If thats what the doc thinks go easy on what you eat for 48 hours. Lots of fluids and things like soup, not too much fibre til the pain passes.
it's more a condition than an illness, apparently affects the over 60's (but i'm only 43!).
Good luck and let us know.
Helen

Hope you get it sorted Byatt.
I've pretty much caught up, & had typed a long post which appears to now be floating around in the ether  so apologies for appearing rude & not replying to certain posters, but my memory is failing & I can't remember what I'd posted
Do remember the brilliant nes about the car though PP  - hope he gets his come uppance!
Good luck to those of you enduring this years exam season - I won't have to worry about if for a few years yet, but I have made the classic mistake of having kids 2 school years apart. I would hate to be sitting exams now as I think my brain has gone to mush, but I do clearly remember my finals
Trying to eat out of the freezer/cupboards this month (year would be good, but even I'm not that overstocked :rotfl:) & will not look at the AF website until my cupboards are getting empty. Am I the only one who has lots of "food" but never knows what to cook, then whatever I do cook is frowned upon by my DD (who would happily live on Oreos if allowed)?
Hugs to all - I'm hoping my own black dog takes a hike soon, although I am feeling a bit better today. And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -

May I ask what the AF website is?0 -
AF is Approved Food linky on first page.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Oh no! You've reminded me about Approved Foods and now I am going to have to go and look on there!!
Just got back from Manchester Dogs Home. I am on the doglost.co.uk helpers' list so went to look and see if a particular lost dog was there. Oh my goodness, I was in tears, all those poor dogs and so many of them bewildered and obviously confused at where they had ended up. I knew I would cry but it felt as if my heart was being ripped out. I just wanted to scoop them all up. My own two got a huge cuddle when I got home. I wish I could win the lottery. I'd rehome all the oldies for a start, so that they had a loving home to end their days in. Oh Lord I'm filling up again.
Hope everyone is having a good day. The sun is shining here so I'm about to take my two for a walk. Love to you all. xxxAspire not to have more but to be more.
