Ginny: Thinking of you and hubby. Must be very difficult for you both (understatement, but you know what I mean).
Been thinking about new curtains for our bathroom small window, came across a pair of lovely white tea towels in TK Maxx, they have a small design embroidered on the bottom and are exactly the right size. I'd got curtain clips in stock and an expandable net curtain rail. Result: new curtains without sewing (I'm rubbish at sewing). Really pleased.
Also: does anyone else think that Fairy washing up liquid is not what it used to be? I always bought that because you only needed a small amount, but I'm finding T*sco or A*di w/up liquid does the job better now, for less pennies.Normal people worry me.0 -
Hobsons choice, I have to agree Fairy is no longer the wonder it was. It seems to be weaker.
I saw something the other week where you slice up an orange and pop it in a bottle of white vinegar, leave it a couple of weeks then use it for cleaning work surfaces, doors and cookers and it is amazing. Leaves no smell of vinegar either. Think I have now got rid of all my shop bought cleaners so am now chemical free - well I know vinegar is technically a chemical but you know what I mean.
OH has gone of to score for his old cricket team so I have peace and quiet. Ds is languishing in bed after a very hard week at work and his bosses leaving do last night, but he is no trouble.
Got a strange letter of the DWP today, they have put our money up, now have full DLA again after then dropping the care component last year to middle - you may remember they stopped our benefits for 3 months then re-instated them. They also backdated the payment a month so we have money in the kitty again -PHEW relief. It also says these benefits will remain 'indefinately' Not going to question it just accept it gratefully.:)Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

Ohhhh, Hobson, thanks for the tip, I've never heard of curtain clips before and they will be ideal for what I need, as I can't sew either. Brilliant!!
We're home now, well, DD's home, trying to weigh up whether to go to my home or wait here till Tuesday when I drop DD off at station to go to her dad's. Does anyone know about calling from abroad and the best way to go about it? She's off on a cruise, so various places.0 -

Out-performed Fairy by a long shot and is much cheaper.
I use Cussons Morning Fresh as I stocked up on it at Poundland whilst it was 2 for £1. Not as excellent as the Aldi one in the tests but not too bad a performer.
I have been following your good advice and stayed in my pit until nearly 9 am this morning, then gently pottered about doing some chores. Did ironing  but it was only 5 blouses and 8 hankies so hardly the end of the world as we know it. Have biked to the lottie but only to deposit the rotables and cover up the emerging tater tops with clumps of couch grass which I was attempting to dry out and discard.Putting couch grass back on cleared ground feels very strange. Broad beans are doing well and the strawbs are flowering profusely so let's hope I get a crop this year.
I have a chili in the slowcooker and the flat is smelling very lush. And the bad pixies deposited a chocolate pudding thingy in my fridge which I'll have to clear up for them................:rotfl:Darned pixies, leaving high-calorie goodies in harm's way.
Ginny you're the polar opposite of a weak and whiny woman and don't you forget it. ((((hugs)))) to you and anyone else who is going thru the mill at the moment.
All righty, I've just come in from the lottie and am a bit chilly (bitter north wind out there) so must get some tea down my gullet. I've even put the heating on. In May!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I just dont know how the DWP make their decisions, I had same with hubby, when he first had stroke they put him on HRC/ HRM for 2 yrs..........When that time was up I filled all the forms in with evidence from 3 drs, local gp, and respite care home to say that if anything his condition is worse, mainly due to brain damage left him severely epileptic, and all stroke related problems, they put his award down to low car/ middle mobility.........I instantly wrote them a letter and explained that he is no better and stated my reasons, within 5 days they wrote back to me and put his award back where it was and "indefinate" award......So thats one big worry gone thank god.......Without me he would be in care home cos he cant do anything since the stroke, his poor memory is bad etc etc.........
The weather well its been dam right cold here today , no rain , a little bit of sunshine , the wind had got a bite..............
In fact ive got my heating on, it comes on a timer for 6 every morning and I flick it off if it gets too hot or up it if it gets cold.........The cold make me feel low and miserable so I never hesitate to turn it on................................
Had loads of garden birds feeding all day on the feeders, one of my little wrens nest still as young in there,:D and the other wrens fledglings have left the box and are chirping about the garden, the great tit is still feeding her young in another box,:D and we have a garden full of young robins without their red breasts, :Dso its all happening here with the wildlife, plus Ive got newt and frog spawn in the wildlife pond, I love it....:D............
We are not going out anywhere over the bank holiday weekend, mainly because its too wet and cold, plus we both havent got the strenght to be bothered. So after ive done afew jobs around the home and garden I will sit back and watch the wildlife................0 -
Shegar, they seem to be total idiots at the DWP -apologies to any one here who works for them - they must just randomly pick out a few forms and put them in a tray marked ' cause panic and distress to claimant' I am glad they saw sense in your Hubbys case too and it gives you one less major thing to worry about.
I MUST take a detour to Lidl soon, theres one near Dd's so may call in on Monday and have a look, havent tried it for a long time.
I put a bird feeder on the living room window near my chair but the birdies all hide so I cant see them. have spent many exasperating hours with my camera trying to get a picture of them, but all I can hear is the tap tap tap of them bankrupting me :rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light
