Yes Ginnyknit we are practically next door neighbours! I am about two miles from airport.
I remember Belle Vue when I was a child, and my mum used to tell me tales of going on the 'bobs'.
Thinking of you and your husband.0 -
MM well as MSE goes we are nearly neighbours, when Smileyt and I have our meet-up in Manchester centre you must come if you can.
thank you all for your lovely thoughts and candle lighting, caring thoughts are a big help. Im positive one minute and baffled the next. But keeping busy as ever, apparently slugs love plastic greenhouse so am at war with the little blighters

Popped on to google how to do blanket stitch and just wanted to say hi to ManchesterMargo  and to say yes, we must organise a Manchester mini-meet, it might cheer us all up a bit. Ginnyknit can you PM me when you are feeling up to it and then we will organise something. xx
ETA MM if you are in South Manchester you must be very close to me. Wouldn't it be funny if we knew each other in real life?! Oh I do hope you're not the woman on the next street who hates my guts .......Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Mardatha: I thought that when you reached pensionable age you didn't have to pay fines to the library? Well, we don't in our part of Scotland. :T
So sorry for all those that are feeling down and sad. Hope you get some relief in the near future.0 -
Sorry to hear about your car problems PP, I used to childmind the 3 children of a local car dealer who was similar to the person you have been dealing with, someone once threw him through the front of his shop. It didn't get anyone their money back (apart from the throwee) but it made a lot of people very happy.

I never pay fines anyway - the library ladies buy my soap & eggs and somehow manage to "lose" any fines. Is about the only place I ever go, apart from the bank and postvan. One has a very empty social diary
Sorry not got time just now to read back, hope nothing dire has happened to anybody xxx
I am trying to find any sites that might be discussing the possible benefit cuts in the pipeline. If anybody knows a sensible site like that please gimme it. I have a horrible feeling that things are about to get very much worse.
Weather is set to be ok today and tomorrow so if I an be assed I'll start on the garden. We've to reach the dizzy heights of 8-9C here whoohoo.0 -
B&T - I have scanned our birdie book, could it have been brambling? They have orangy backs, other than that it might have been a Chuzzlewit, but they are extremely rare
Nope, definitely not a brambling: it was orangey-red and had the same colour on its back and the top-sides of its little wings. This is really annoying me now and I can't seem to google a pic of a chuzzlewit, either. Grrrr!
Ginnyknit: I've been lighting candles for your OH and wish you both all the best for his appointment today. *crosses fingers*
Penny-Pincher: if that absolute !!!!!! crook has told you to poke it, and that was almost inevitable seeing as he's an experienced dealer, I'd be straight down to Trading Standards and would be contacting the Revenue as well. Plenty of trouble can make its way to him and I sincerely hope it will.0 -
B&T, juveniles can be really odd colours, they cause a lot of confusion even among experienced bird watchers. My son has just told me this0

B&T, depending on where you are, could it have been a red-backed shrike? They have a distinctive head stripe, though.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

My goodness! I'm MIA for a day or two and there's soooo much to catch up on!
(((((hugs))))) to everyone going through difficult times, you're all in my thoughts.
I think that whoever is in Downing Street,it should be compulsory that they spend their first week in office reading the posts on MSE - maybe then, they might have an inkling of what it's like in the real world:mad:
