    Afternoon Everyone.

Sorry to read of so much grief for everyone - Ginny, x fingers for tomorrow and Meme - what terrible timing!

B&T - I have scanned our birdie book, could it have been brambling? They have orangy backs, other than that it might have been a Chuzzlewit, but they are extremely rare :D

Spent the day on business related stuff - bits and bobs sorting out storage on the van (woohoo - a legitimate reason to buy more plastic boxes!) and putting together a spreadsheet of food information - ingredients etc of the stuff we have bought, nutritional info, allergen advice and cooking times etc. That way, if anyone asks I will have the info all in one place.

I would like to offer gluten-free batter, but I guess it might be a problem if I fry in the same oil as the ordinary batter? Anyone with gluten intolerance know? I might have to find another way to serve fish which avoids batter - we haven't got a grill.

Stopped raining and the sun is out - it did this yesterday too, but soon turns again :(

I just heard on the national weather that by this Friday that the temps will go down to 7 degrees day time temps, so thats pretty bleak for May, I did clean my open fire out and painted the hearth and said on April 30 th I wont be lighting the fire when we go into May...........But I may have to withdraw that sentence..:eek:...............From May onwards I normally start to get my winter wood/coal in so when we go into October I have a nice supply paid for, but if weve got to keep the GCH heating on and light fires, I wont get a head with fuel.........

I done jacket tater, baked beans, and sausages for tea tonight, but when I got it on the plate my appetite failed me again, so I just had 1 sausage, half tater and spoonful beans , the rest will go into chicken run in morning,:mad:I know its a dam waste but when I started to get tea ready I did think id eat it , oh dear me I hate wasting food , espeically when food is so expensive ,.......................Been so tired this arvo I had a small sleep but when I woke up I wished id never fell asleep, sometimes that happen you wake up worse than when you fell asleep..........Woke up to 2 dogs sound asleep on top of me:D:D, and me a wee bit grumpy,.......Hope you all have had a fairly decent afternoon.............................Take care all...

I'd put the supplementary heaters (fan/halogen) away for the year when we had that warm week in march... had to get them out again yesterday!

Looks like I'll be needing them again before May is out then shegar... brrr.

My garden is my therapy and I just can't get out there to enjoy it at the moment which makes me a bit grumpy too. The sky looks so ominous tonight - like GQ, I was frantically watering plants this time last year, took me an hour every night when I got home.

    Evening all.

ohh ginnyknit fingers crossed for your OH's appointment tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you both, pet.

meme30 your DD and DsiL have been dealt some low blows right now. Just what an expectant Mum doesn't need; stress. Insofar as I'm aware, he should be entitled to contribution-based JSA for 6 months and that shouldn't be affected by your DD having a job. It may have a bearing if he's still on JSA after 6 months as he'll have to go for income-based JSA and at that point her earnings will be relevent. Echoing the others, please encourage him to put a claim in without delay. Also, they may become eligible for means-tested benefits like council tax benefit. You get this from the local authority and it's another one to apply for without delay.

I think I am possibly going doolally or am just exhausted as I have eaten my supper and forgotten to dish up the oven-cooked part of it until I just recalled it half an hour later. One tired bunny or just menopausal? Can the interweb rot your brain?

Can't remember whoever it is who has failed to woo their robin but I did nothing to deserve the love-fest from the baby one t'other day. Wonder if it'll ever be seen again? I have never in all my born days seen such soppiness from a wild bird - I had to be careful not to stand on the blessed thing, it was so much underfoot.

B & T the mystery deepens. Perhaps you have a very special birdie from Forn Parts (aka Sarf of the River) and twitchers from all across the nation will descend on your street. This will allow a mercantile opportunity for cake-selling........

MrsChip, I have noted it in my diary - D minus 2. Rooting for ya!

I don't have a TV, as I've mentioned before, and I'm limiting exposure to the radio news as I'm not a young gel and don't need my blood pressure elevated any higher. I've often thought that the things which will really affect our lives are liable to be in the small print on the back page, as it were, not in the banner headlines.

Well, gonna have a quick squizz around a coupla places on interweb then must have an early night as I'm square-eyed from pooters and tired enough to be incoherant. And SuperGran has just rung me about druggies kicking off beside her flat.........

Have a good evening, everybody and ((((((hugs))))))) to us all in our various troubles. GQ xx

Sending hugs to ginny and meme and to everyone else too.

I have just sat in a meeting where it was discussed just how low staff morale was and how bad things are in general. WE then discussed the idea of removing free school meals and the impact that will have upon families in the area - and the knock on effect for schools. Its a bleak picture.

Re heaters - alot of parents are complaining that they put away winter uniforms and are now having to get them out again.
We are planning street parties for the jubilee at school and I am seriously planning an indoor version too.

Ta GQ, but a teensy change of date we are doing Sat/Sun now - although with the weather we are likely to be the only ones daft enough to be frequenting a camp site on the windy/wet west Wales coast:rotfl: We we did want a soft take off so I can't complain :D

BTW OH went to co-op and got a key-lime pie yesterday - even though the offer there was £1 off, not £1 each, a bit cheeky of him I thought ! Hope you enjoyed yours. I have just had a very oddly-shape slice served up - I think it fought back!

:pkidkat, it rained in my hometown for the Silver Jubilee street party on our road. There's pictorial evidence in the family album; I'm the chilly-billy in the turquoise anorak. And some burger stole the top off my Silver Jubilee souvenir bike bell! I haven't owned a bike bell since as in the din of urban traffic a high-pitched screech is more appropriate.

It's no wonder I'm such a warped character.;)

Hi All - I was having a carp day today (who left the freezer door open overnight so it all iced up & threw a wobbler) managed to salvage a lot of stuff but all the ice cream went down the drain - I think it was probably past its SBD anyway. Now trying to see if the freezer works or if I;ve managed to burn the motor out :( Thought I'd pop on here for a while & check how everyone is. My - hasn't it put everything into perspective.

Ginny - try to keep positive & take it day by day. I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago & I'm still here & kicking!!

PP - Fingers crossed you get everything sorted to your satisfaction (maybe I can get Mardatha to join me in sticking pins in the !!!!!!'s effigy) PP - just seen your last post - I'm SO angry for you - can you take it further through the local Trading Standards?

Meme - hugs to you & your family & hope things improve for you very soon.

GQ How lucky are you !! - maybe you'll see him again next time you're at your lottie - keep us posted.

Big Hugs to everyone whether you need them or not

I'm sorry Penny, but I know you were hopeful but any person who sells a car in that condition, has no consience or fear. It looks like the long haul and he is expecting you to crack before he does, don't crack. Now involve the authorities...BIG TIME.

    Hugs to all.
