Blimey, kidcat - you really should write a book about your life - the trials and tribulations of ....

Weather was awful this morning - gale force winds and lashing rain. I saw some trendy souls who were soaked to the skin. I was wet too, but only the outside of me as I was wearing my distinctly un-trendy waterproof coat, trousers and wellies. The dogs also had their waterproof doggie coats on. Really, the UK is not the country to try to be trendy in!! Was a bit better this afternoon as the rain stopped for a while, but it was so cold I had to put my thermal longjohns on (or shortjohns in my case, I have to roll them up at the ankles :D) - I can't believe it's May in a couple of days time. I have potatoes chitting on my window ledge that will have grown legs by the time I finally get chance to put the poor things in the soil!

It's a friend's birthday today. I made him a door hanger. He's been a bit stressed recently, and he's just the most gorgeous bloke you could meet (if I didn't bat for the other side ...) so I painted a wooden doorhanger white, and put some inspirational quotes on it and decorated it with gold pen. That way whenever he opens his door he can read these quotes and know how well he is thought of. Hopefully! He seemed to like it, anyway. He appreciates hand-made stuff because he knows how much thought goes into it. I wish I could find him a lovely girlfriend ..... he's such a sweet bloke ..... early thirties - any takers? Blond hair and green eyes, slim, adorable, gentle, idealistic, any mother would love it if her daughter took him home and introduced him ..... oh, I'm starting to feel all maternal, must be my age :rotfl:

The heavens have been open all blimmin day, kids have had cabin fever and been accordingly troublesome. The thing is that Sunday is car boot day, not when it rains though!

Had some bad news in the week, my house move fell flat on it's face. I'm so gutted, I've had my heart set on it for the last 6 months. It was perfect in every way but alas was not to be. Will have to start from scratch but I'm not convinced there'll be anything as good in our price range. I'm no further forward fixing the broken Kenwood chef, I need someone who knows about them to look at it.

Hope everyone is warm, dry and relatively stress free.

Shelley - bad news about your move, is it definitely over or can it be rescued? I am inclined to think that these things are usually meant to be and you end up somewhere better/nicer/more appropriate to your needs, even if it doesnt feel that way at the time. hugs xx

Hugs Shelley, that's such a shame about the house, hopefully somewhere even more perfect will come up for you soon x

Wow! What a day, DD has tried ice-skating for the first time and loved it (OH paid as her birthday treat and hopefully he'll help me with the petrol money too, but I don't want to ask, but it was blooming miles away!), I've bought a geeetar on the bay of eeees so that DD can teach me and hopefully enjoy practicing more when we do it together and I made a blooming good dinner, even if I say so myself for my superstar iceskater when we returned through the puddles!

Also, woohoo, pay has gone into my bank account and thanks to my teensy pay rise and whatever the gov't have done with tax limits, a bit more went in than I was expecting so I still have £300 for food, petrol, wedding present for family member and anything else that crops up in May) but at least the guitar was paid for out of the 'extra' money as I had been panicking a tad about it!

No bread in the house so I'm going to give DD cheese and crackers for lunch tomorrow and hopefully get off my backside and make some rolls for the week.....well, I could/should have done that when we got back this afternoon but apathy overtook me :(

I think we should have enough leftovers from dinner to hopefully do my lunch tomorrow and must remember to take a bottle of water and a snack for my hospital appointment tomorrow, when I hopefully find out how good/bad my ankle is after a recent operation (like I don't know already that it has done beggar all......*sigh*)

Aww thanks Kidcat :A That's a lovely thought. It's definitely off the cards now, I found out on Thursday that it wasn't going ahead and drove past earlier and the new tenants have moved in already :(

Thank you Grandma, that site looks fantastic, hopefully we'll be jamming away in no time, DD is 7 and a keen learner. She's only had about 10 lessons and played me happy birthday earlier this week :)

Many years ago my OH (before he was my OH I hasten to add!) asked a Canadian friend of his who they were going to visit Canada with what the Canadian girls were like? His reply.... Kind of like British girls, but with more clothes on! None of that going out on a winter's eve dressed for the Bahamas malarky!

Managed to get my essay in - only 3 days late which is quite impressive for the last fortnight we've had - hope my tutor is as impressed with this feat and not too critical as I'm sure it's not my best work. :o Just need to catch up on last weeks work for both courses next week.

Got some good news on Friday - DD has been offered another term of hydrotherapy which is fab as I really felt she benefited last time and there are not many spots available. Also got an email tonight about a parent conference which looks great - only problem is that it's on Wednesday and I'm too late to book the kids into the creche (will try ringing tomorrow and begging) otherwise will have to see if my parents (one or other) will come down and look after them. I have to say I take my hat off to any parent of a kid with additional needs who works, how they fit it in I have no idea! The OU is ideal as it fit in and around appointments and the like.

Penny - Hope you sort the burger who flogged you a lemon out - go get him! Now I know why my Dad always insists on subbing the difference to buy from a garage, not that it always means a smooth ride as we are still having problems with the boot playing silly beggars and I think we will have to take it to Renault and swallow their prices as we have exhausted the knowledge of 2 well reputed local garages and a local and well reputed auto electrician.

Kidcat - nothing to say but hugs - you seem to be having a right old time of it. Been thinking of a book myself but you deffo have enough material!

Hugs too for anyone else who needs one, roll on May I'm d*mn sick of April as it's been one disaster after another trial.

I know what you mean stiltwalker This month has been no better than March. A couple of weeks ago Ddil had what appeared to be a stroke and lost all use of her right side for a while. It may be related to the spinal problem she has but she now has a new gp and specialist so she is having urgent new scans and the new specialist is not approaching it with pre-conceived ideas it seems so she may get some answers soon. This is the fourth time it has happened. Most of the effects have now gone but she still has a lot of pain.

My car was hit by a pair of hoons on Saturday afternoon while it was parked outside dd's. One was riding on the bonnet and the other was trying to knock him off! They had been drinking so as soon as dh got details off the driver he rang the police. We don't know the outcome of that yet.

I have not rung the insurance yet as the damage appears to be slight and after having my last car written off in September by an idiot I am wary in case they put my insurance up massively. It did not go up a lot after the last one and I think the rise might just have been the one everyone was hit with.

Instead of going straight to insurance I am putting it in for an early MOT and will get the garage to asses any damage and I will give this twit a choice of pay for the damage or we go through insurance anyway. I am more concerned that the car is safe.

Dh was very very fortunate because he had been standing behind the car moments earlier and only moved because Sil called him to his car to look at something and they both heard the revving engine noise and the bang. Dh could have had his legs broken or worse if he had not moved. As it was the car was shifted 6ft down the road by the impact.

PP I was just feeling really sad and on the point of crying after reading about your car when dh rang about my car so I was miserable for both of us for the rest of the day. I do hope you can get your money back. I am so sick of the dishonesty that there is now.

:j:D Oh my goodness, I'm grinning like a maniac; woke to a clear blue sky and glorious sunshine. I'm desperate to get out there and garden but I have to go to the salt mine and earn a living.

Juat hope that by the time I finish, it hasn't started raining and I have some oooommph left to go up there and do a little.

Smileyt know what you mean about chitted tatties growing legs. I planted mine the weekend before Easter and that's late by my standards and they were the spoutiest they've ever been. It's a mad game getting the timing right. My beetroots have been up for 2-3 weeks but they're staying exactly the same size (cress) and I swear I can almost hear the little darlings shiver.

Well, just about time for a wee bit on internetting then must get ready for the t'office.

Have a good'un, peeps, hope we all get to see the sun.
