I must've picked it up from a book somewhere but beggared if I can remember where. Been reading voraciously for 40 years and have strange stuff stored in the grey matter which surfaces at random moments. Back when Trivial Pursuit was the board game of the moment, no one would ever play me twice because I know a lot of offbeat stuff. Sometimes I could even answer questions on University Challenge..........:rotfl:

Well, it is yet another grey day in paradise. The rain doesn't stop, it just varies in denominations. I have been out twice, once to the Co-op on a shopping reconnaissance and I'm joining and gonna stuff it to T*sco. Plus I found that they also have yellow label bargains. Funny how I can walk in a store where I have only ever been once before, and that was years ago, and get straight to the discount shelf. I've brought a pre-roasted chickie on offer and a key-lime cheesecake. You're allowed cheesecake if it rains, you know.:p
I also went to the library for some trashy reads to accompany my sugary goodness. The weather better improve soon or I'll be the size of a house with this comfort eating.
I have a brushed cotton duvet cover at the moment, cast-off from Mum who'd got it from a boot sale. Sooooo snuggly. I always used the love the ceremonial changing into the flanelette sheets come wintertime when I was a kid.
OK, I need tea. I have a new word for you, from the GQ Random Word Generator;
Persnickity.
Meaning; fussy, nitpicking and similar. Enjoy, enjoy!
There, just grabbed that at random off the web, so we can remember what a sunny day looks like.

They're only £1 at the moment.:D Are they more round your way or is the OH only allowed one if it's cheaper than a quid?
Don't tell him I plan to scoff a whole one on my ownsome or he might be upset................:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

OMG - no, they are normally something over £3, outrageous price. So is your's reduced/ on special? This is a big one, err does um, should feed six, possibly cutting it into four is not the way to go, OH would cut into two, eat half and save half for later... about 10 mins later :rotfl: greedy beggar! We will see how much he likes them - will he go out now if they are only £1??? (someone is still throwing buckets of water at us here)Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

I'm afraid I'll be doing pretty much the same. It's the 425g tea-plate size one. They had the key-lime and toffee ones at £1 but not on whoopsie so I guess must be a special offer? Squinting at the underside it seems to indicate 6 portions...........but we know better, he he he.
Wow, that was my inaugral visit to the Co-op, too. The girl done good, the girl done good. I wouldn't have paid £3 for it, tho, would've got my sugar hit from something cheaper. Shame the pack says unsuitable for home freezing or I could stock up.

Penny-Pincher May I add another couple of suggestions to help with your transport? First, I'm sure I read somewhere that train companies will let carers go free, although you may need a disabled person's railcard for this to work.
My second thought was had you investigated car clubs? That way you would have access to well maintained and fairly new cars when you needed them without the hassle of ownership. This link will explain and lets you search to see if there's one covering your area:

This is terrible. If you highlighted this to some of the charities for people with disabilities, preferrably ones with militant campaigners, could you not get access sorted? Also, do you have local elections next week? What about asking local candidates what they will do about it? Could probably be done by email, and perhaps others around you could ask the same?

I am sooo jealous. How come your library is open on a Sunday?
Grey and damp here today. And cold. I need to go out but would rather hibernate

People have said that the Co-op seems expensive, and I guess that is true but they do have some good deals, if you shop carefully, and they do have a good whoopsies in our store if you get there at the right time - I still have to work out when that is for our one :rotfl:. OH gets his wine cheap there and says it's very good. have just signed up to join, been meaning to for months.
News on the street is that the town is to get an AsdaHate that shop and frankly it will kill town dead. It was a lovely little town with few chains, but blight of the threat of supermarket for years has meant it lost all the shops a town needs, and those that arel eft will lose out when it comes. Council jumped into pocket with Tesco some years ago, got them to build a new school in return for town centre site, then Tesco pulled out and Council had to pay for school anyway - typical of short-sighted local councils, no idea at all.
OH not going out now - so can't like them that much thenThink big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
I'm also a Co-op shopper (Scotmid here) - got a salad bag for 20p yesterday reduced from £1.50. Their prices for stuff not on offer/ reduced tend to be high but it's a good place to hunt the bargains. Apart from that I go to Lidl and Morries - haven't been in a t$sco since that hoo-ha about the working for expenses stuff. They've sent me coupons a couple of times but nah.
Ok weather here but cold. We haven't had the snow Mar - you can keep it. Sorry to hear of folk having such rain. Thinking of JackieO and hoping she is snug wherever they've gone.
Sausage casserole cooked for tea including potatoes. Will do greens to go with.
Have been vegetarian for 4 months and now back on meat. Doesn't tend to suit me and I end up anaemic and cotton-wool brained. Just what I need near the end of my contract when I'm casting my eye about for poss jobs. Ah well. Iron tabs, some meat (no, I know there isn't a lot of meat in the sausage ha ha - they were in the freezer) and oranges.
Got a pile of books from the library yesterday. When it's cold it always makes me want to hunker down and read. I had turned off the heating too! Think it's to get warmer this week though. At least it isn't raining as that is horrible for old dog's joints. She's a creaky old madam now and on 3 different tabs a day. Was hoping she'd see the summer but some days I'm not so sure. Then of course she goes and has a sprightly few days with a spring in her step.
Ok folks, off to tidy up a bit.
Don't post much but I do read.
(((hugs))) to those having a hard time.

RI snuck in thru an unlocked back door and ran amok in the stacks all on my todd.
Just kidding; the central library opens for a few hours on Sunday. Not the whole she-bang, just the media section and the popular fiction bits. They do a lot of biz so there's obviously a demand. It's especially popular with working people who are a bit too harried to go on evenings or Saturdays.
I adore my library and it's the only thing which justifies spending 1/12th of my net income on council tax, IMO.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
