Very many apologies for leading some of you to the dark side of fabric sales :D

Greyqueen I love things with pockets all over them too. I rarely have a handbag with me but stuff my phone, keys, money, pocket knife in my trouser pockets. One of my fave things is a hunting waistcoat which has zillions of pockets and is so useful. Normal women's clothing is rubbish for pockets. I love fleece too. And I only possess two pairs of 'decent' shoes/boots for interviews, weddings, funerals etc. Every other piece of footwear is either wellies or walking boots (and kids' ones at that as my feet are only a size 2). I have one dress and two skirts which I haven't worn since 2009. Add to that my shaved head (due to alopecia, it's not a lifestyle indicator!) .... I'll never be a 'proper' woman! I've never understood women who get up and make themselves up - just getting myself out of bed in the morning is difficult enough :rotfl:

Is there a spare cuppa in the pot?
:D My evil twin! a foot shorter but deffo my evil twin! Have a cuppa now :coffee:;)

I love wearing my Rohan pocketed waistcoat when gardening and travelling and do use a handbag but only a small one with a long strap worn diagonally so I can forget about it once it's on. I'm the original low-maintenance woman; up, washed and dressed, long hair combed out and tied up and I'm good to go. Sightings of me in a frock and heels are about as common as a lunar eclipse. People are pleasantly surprised but I feel like a drag-queen in girlie style, it's so not me.

Can't be doing with all that faffing around but I suppose if it made me look substantially better than I look naturally I might be interested but I just look like a slightly-more-colourful version of myself, and it isn't worth the effort.

Some famous beauty once quipped that after a certain age, make up etc was like re-arranging the deckchairs on the Titanic; you can do it if you like but it doesn't make a difference.

Well, I've been flitting like a firefly between about a dozen websites inc this one and gave my browser conniptions and had to close down via task manager. Tabbed browsing is such a boon for a magpie mind like mine. B&T I've only ever seen SQL errors on my work pooter, whatever had you been up to?

Going to see if I can get back to where I was before it all went a bit pete tong. If it does it again, I'm off for the night.

.........Its suppose to be even wetter over night and tommorow, but Monday will be sunny and 18 degrees, roll on Monday I say........:D

I'm in your part of the country as well and my forecast is also for a dry Monday - can't wait! This spring has been so different from normal weatherwise round here and it's blimmin' awful :(

smileyt - I got rid of my last skirt/dress a couple of years ago. I mostly wear gardening/dog walking gear now but I do have some smart dress pants and tops and "smart casual" stuff. My left ankle is badly scarred and I hate thick tights so no skirts for me.

Pockets - ooh yes! Keys, poo bags, hanky, bit of cash for a bargain, folded shopper, etc. Although poo bags do thread nicely through belt loops as well.

Byatt - I have just discovered that my furniture polish has lemon oil in it as well, so I'm hoping that it will act as a repellent as well :D at least it's another incentive to polish the bits of furniture that can be polished!

Goodness me you lot can talk!

I was only thinking yesterday how quiet the thread is these days then suddenly it explodes. I suppose it's because the weather is so awful that everyone is inside. I'm glad I didn't read this earlier because the mention of a fabric sale would have been lethal.. However I spent the afternoon sorting out my stash and I realise that I have more than any one woman can use in a lifetime, so I can resist. Actually my stash is smaller than it was, not because I have been strong willed but because I discovered that the mouse that got into my food storeroom recently, also got into my stash. Doesn't like poly cotton OOOH NO!. 100% wool or silk only for mousey:mad::mad::mad:

So another trip to the tip to dump some stuff in the fabric recycling so that it can at least be shredded. I always feel reluctant to give stuff to charity that can't possibly be sold even though I know they get a few pence for the rags. I feel less embarrassed putting it in the big skip at the tip and it gets recycled anyway.

Saw a wedding at the church opposite while I was out and felt so sorry for the bride in this weather. I was in Oxford earlier this week visiting DD1 and we walked past a bridal shop which had Hunter wellies in a pearly white colour with diamante trim. I laughed at the time but I bet they have sold a few!!

Mary, I didn't realise mice ate cloth as well! eeeeek.
Could you tell me the name of the mascara with the ingredient for making lush eyelashes?

I know, we've been chatting up a storm today!

Sorry Byatt, I don't know what the mascara is called - it may only be available in the US. That's where my ophthalmologist said she had seen it. I did see a mascara in Boots that claimed to make your lashes grow but I didn't stop to look at it. The ingredient would be Latanoprost. My eye drops are 5% active ingredient but I think the mascara only has a tiny proportion of that and costs proportionately much, much more
