Nah, you deffo get travel costs, and free eye tests and vouchers towards the cost of glasses with one of those. Get it straight from the horse's mouth on Monday, tho.
I am sooooo bored with grey skies and rain. Looks like tomorrow is set to be even worse. The river is well up and I have to hope that it doesn't get any higher or I could be paddling........
Looks like I shall be spending a day at the homestead tomorrow attending to the dark arts of domesticity. I guess I could re-arrange my tinned foods and wash the floor. Or perhaps just hibernate until the monsoon season has passed.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I live in fleece & GoreTex & any clothes that I buy new (as opposed to CS) all come from Mountain Warehouse - except undies.
Loving my sofa afternoon so far - really grand to be inside when its raining. Again. And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
B&T, sent you a PM.
It's bitterly cold here, and windy. More like winter than spring.0 -
Happy escape: I can't get onto the Jackie's Fabrics site for mysterious reason of SQL something or other. It's God's way of telling me I need to save my money for wellington boots and an ark.
And damn the lot of you who can spend idle hours on t'internet while lolling on the sofa at the same time.
I shouldn't be wasting my late afternoon/early evening reading and typing: I've got darling lettuce seedlings to tend to, some geraniums to re-pot and a pair of boots to dye. And a bag of sprats in the fridge to prepare for dinner. And. And. And. I think I might make a nice cup of tea first with a slice of that chocolate cake I made last night.0 -
Not raining here today, sun off and on and bright - but absolutely baltic. Not poked my nose outside all day. Forgot what warm sun feels like!
Re the mattress Byatt, you need to turn it once a fortnight - and as B&T said, the electric blanket plus the constant turning will stop it happening again.0 -
I have no cake0

B&T, I'm not lolling on a sofa, I'm perched on a stool in front of my computer desk. Could murder choccie cake and a cuppa. Well, the means to remedy the tea deficit is at hand.

Very many apologies for leading some of you to the dark side of fabric sales
Greyqueen I love things with pockets all over them too. I rarely have a handbag with me but stuff my phone, keys, money, pocket knife in my trouser pockets. One of my fave things is a hunting waistcoat which has zillions of pockets and is so useful. Normal women's clothing is rubbish for pockets. I love fleece too. And I only possess two pairs of 'decent' shoes/boots for interviews, weddings, funerals etc. Every other piece of footwear is either wellies or walking boots (and kids' ones at that as my feet are only a size 2). I have one dress and two skirts which I haven't worn since 2009. Add to that my shaved head (due to alopecia, it's not a lifestyle indicator!) .... I'll never be a 'proper' woman! I've never understood women who get up and make themselves up - just getting myself out of bed in the morning is difficult enough :rotfl:
Is there a spare cuppa in the pot?Aspire not to have more but to be more.

I used Mountain Warehouse 3 wks ago and got hubby and I a good waterproof/fleeced/goretex coats, zips and velcro, Ive got them ready for the coming winter, they were £99.99 each down to £20 plus 20 per cent off, real excellent value for 2 very heavy warm coats...............
Ive got my fire a light its so cosy, weve never had so much rain here as weve had in the past 3 wks,the garden is loving it, but my hens are not so keen,....ive got 7 water butts over flowing, I went out today and gave the trees/shrubs some water out of the butts, cos trees need quite a lot to get down to the roots, and the water butt soon filled up again.........Its suppose to be even wetter over night and tommorow, but Monday will be sunny and 18 degrees, roll on Monday I say........:D0 -
Did someone mention tea and chocolate? I'm on it.
And whoever in heck metioned Jackie's fabrics - I don't know whether to say  or :T I have a hankering for an A line, knee lenght skirt - but the ones in White Stuff are £50  So I thought I could order a pattern and look on Jackie's fabrics for suitable fabric. I reckon I can do it for under a tenner. The  face is cos I do have enough to do, but still I'll have a crack at it. I used to sew so I should be able to have a go.
Just got to work it out how to order now in relation to the pattern.
PP I hope the car business works out.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
