Morning everyone...I'd also agree about some of the other boards on MSE...very scary on the whole...much safer here. :D

And a Happy Easter to all, hope the Easter Bunny has left chocolate deposits for you. I made DD an egg, with one of the dairy free chocolates she CAN eat (Ald! 89p!!!) so hope she's pleased with that, was a last minute things as OH said she was sad there wasn't any eggs she could eat, I happened to have a largeish egg mold) I've filled it with the very last packet of Easter Bunny marshmallows that was left in Ald!...they had about a dozen packets of easter shapes yesterday...all the rest had gone!!! Last time I went in (which I think was Friday?) they had three pallets of chocolate bunnies on the shop floor  Good job I bough mine a week ago ;)

I was just sitting here checking my e-mail when I heard ghostly singing, went to check and the DAB radio switched itself on again, for the Sunday Easter service. DD and OH have both experienced this recently, and I told them it's because it's been left on, and lost the signal, it suddenly finds it again and comes on...this time I'm darn sure it was on CD last time it was on not radio...cos' I was the one who was using it.... Must be 'Mrs H' again! (Previous resident :A) Thank goodness she can't manage the gas taps on the new hob, she used to turn the electric ones on

Had a wonderful walk up Carn Menyn on Friday, absolutely magical, managed quite easily, think the walking poles I borrowed helped, and I had a great day with great company. My friend's friend who is visiting her, unpacked his backpack and produced camping ready meals and a stove, so we had hot lunch and tea, and I'd made and taken two sorts of cake! I wasn't even stiff and sore the next day!!! Will definately be back up there, it may be my new favourite place :D

Back to reality yesterday though, I've had B&B people all this week, and a mountain of washing to tackle. I lost count of how many loads I did yesterday. I'm at work later today, as work are hosting an Easter Fair tomorrow, and we need to get stuff ready for that. Working Monday, and Tuesday, been drafted in to collect horse manure on Wednesday, and OH has been summonsed back to the hospital for the results of his biopsy on Thursday (which sounds ominous to me, but I haven't said anything...) so I may not be around much for the next few days.

Katie owl hope the results are ok, wil be thinking of you both.

Mardatha it does help voodoo doesnt it :rotfl: I had one of my boss at my last job because she did thtrick of covering criticism with a smarmy voice. I also hung a carrot on a stick in my office to give her an idea of how to treat staff and gave a speech at a meeting regarding 'the criticism sandwich' basically you find 2 good points with one bad one in between and make your staff feel more positive :D

Just taken DGS home after a tiring but lovely 2 days. He is so loving that I don't notice the time passing and -bonus- he slept all night :j Going to settle down with a rare sunday paper and a bar of galaxy.

Got a basket full of whoopsies in Mr A yesterday, no meat but lots of useful stuff and DD got a load at work so she paid us for babysitting in grapes!

If you have any Tresco Clubcard points you can exchange them for SeaLife tickets and get a good deal.
I refuse to go to the one in B'ham coz they built it over the site of my gt grandad's pub :D:D

Katie: Hope you get good news.

Kate, that does sound worrying, I hope however, it is just standard procedure. xxxx You've both have gone through so much waiting for this.

Docky, my DD entered poochy in a fun dog show (although the fun was taken out by some competitors!), and she came second in the veteran category! The winner was a nice staffi/lab cross of 14, with a pleasant owner who introduced himself to us prior to going into the ring. He deserved to win, the dog was lovely. Pooch beat a few older entrants, she is 12. Doesn't look it though.

Meme many years ago my ex & I went on holiday with his brother & sister in law, we went for a fortnight. SIL had asked her hubby repeatedly for a list of what he wanted her to pack, he airily replied 'Oh just a shirt & a couple of pairs of pants' & refused to write a list.
So he spent the entire fortnight with just the clothes he wore for the journey, 2 spare pairs of pants & a dress shirt! He always provided a detailed list from then on!

I'll keep my fingers crossed its not as bad as you fear. Not sure what the test was for, but if he's been suffering then getting a result is the first step to dealing with it. I spent most of last year getting more and more invasive tests with no answers - was such a relief when I finally found out what was wrong.

I agree. I lurk more than I post, but am very impressed with how supportive everyone is here.

    Happy Easter everyone.

On the note of looking for work that you can't possible get or is not cost effective or difficult to travel to, my DD is part of the finding work scheme, bless her heart, and they let her apply for all sorts of things which she has no chance of getting. Worse, these people offer her an interview which she bravely goes to without support, and then they say she is not qualified! Despite having her CV and information about her autism beforehand. Plus she does not drive and is applying for shift work jobs at pubs/restaurants which she will not be able to get home from, let alone get there on time because of bus timetables. She keeps plodding on and then gets downhearted and has a break for a while.

Byatt - does you DD apply under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme/2 Ticks (or whatever it is called)? I have been doing so, so getting some interviews but never the actual job :(. It is a difficult one - I can't decide whether it is worse not getting an interview at all, or getting your hopes up, especially when the interview seems to go well, then having them dashed again. I have a candid friend who works in HR & has told me (off the record of course) that their company just goes through the motions when interviewing most under the GIS, as they've already made up their minds not to employ them .

I guess I can see it from their side - why take a risk on someone who may need more time off/adaptions (which can take ages to get in place) when they have a pool of "normal" applicants? Normal is the wrong word, but I can't think of the correct one, so no offence intended.

I thought of posting on some other boards asking for advice/experience, but the first thread I saw was slating those using the GIS for taking chances away from normal applicants (& yes, they did use the word normal). So I didn't bother & think I'll stay here!

Former Brummie girl here - what pubs are you talking about? I hardly recognise parts of Brum now - the whole Broard St/Gas St area was a total no go area when I was a lass. I used to get the bus home from school from Colemore Row back to Harborne & was told never to get off anywhere along Broard St, even if the bus broke down! Mind you, some people may say it is even worse now...

I left Brum well before drinking age, but do go back every now & then. Old watering holes included The Frighted Horse & The Woodbine, both in Handsworth & both, I believe now boarded up. So sad, but guess it is a sign of these awful times. Without wishing to sound like a total alcoholic, I'd much prefer an evening in a pub with decent ale & good company to most other nights out. Although I'm struggling to remember the last time I went to a pub....

Katieowl - hope DH results are ok.

I shall be MIA for a while now as going away with my two :j & am really looking forward to it. I'm still not 100% (still can't face chocolate, wine, anything that has a taste really) but feeling a lot better than I did.

I went out yesterday to post a parcel, then got carried away with the excitement of being out & caught the bus to the big city! After a trawl of the CSs I can home with a nice Lush bath set for £4, a top for £1 & a dress for £5 :T. Any kind of clothes shopping is entertaining as I can never see the prices or sizes, so I'm often trying to squeeze into unsuitable things. I now work on the "if it fits I won't worry too much about the price". Although after 2 weeks of not spending anything, I think the splurge was allowed.

Hope everyone is enjoying Easter & hugs to all.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...
