Meme and GQ - your grans sound like the Jenny Joseph "when I am old" type of gran that I aspire to.

Not today though - my man flu is in fact real flu (my cousin commented on Facebook that he's glad it has been downgraded :D) and I feel wubbish. Am trying to do odd bits of housework around all the lying on the sofa that I seem to have to do. Found myself watching Jeremy Kyle so it was time to empty the dishwasher. It seems the snow wasn't the only thing I brought back from Stockholm.

Have been working my way through the first series of Lark Rise to Candleford - that really is OS! Times was definitely hard though.

Got to get DS ready for his trip to France, Skiing with school and the rest of us to Paris. I am doing it a bit at a time.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Anyway, he recommended rinsing (gargling) my throat in Diflam, which basically disinfected and numbed my throat for a few hours, gave me relief from the pain, and soothed it too. A few days later, I was right as rain. Oh the relief!!I still remember it now!

HTHs and really hope you feel better soon

    LB xx

Thanks LB - I have been trying to gargle with soluble aspirin but I'm a bit rubbish at gargling & tend to make a huge mess! When I feel up to going out I may invest in a bottle.

Day 12 in the vile lurgy house - pleased to report I do feel very slightly better :T although my throat still feels raw the other symptoms seem to be going. Hopefully I shall be all rested to deal with the onslaught of DD & DS back from their Dads.

Gardenia - don't envy you your trip one bit - could you contact London Underground to arrange help (they can be quite good when they try), not sure if this is something you would like to do, but the tube is hellish a the best of times.

I don't really like asking for help & at least the tube does have decent signs that I can usually manage to read (if it isn't too dark). It is just the sheer business of it all that I find overwhelming - sure I'm not alone there! And I can't remember the last time I actually sat down on any train as they are all soooo busy - I have tried to reserve seats but there aren't any available. Not sure if that means that they've all been reserved already...

Still, it will all be worth it for a few days away ay the seaside (Travelodge special - very MSE) so I can't wait :j. I'm usually the one to fall asleep before my kids when we all share the same room! Really looking forward to having a long hot bath after walking by the sea - too cold for a paddle still I feel.

Hope you get a date soon (for trading, not anything else :rotfl:) & am relieved to understand the mankini reference! Have to admit the thought of any man in one of those is wrong on so many levels...

Hobsons Choice - your story makes me fume too .

Ginnyknit - hope you do get some rest hun, I'm a firm believer in your body eventually forcing you to take a rest when you really can't cope anymore & I hope you don't crash & burn. Easier said then done though, I realise that. Your coathanger comment did make me smile though.

Living Proof - that is good news about your car. Although I really miss the freedom of driving, I don't miss the expense.

    Meme30 - enjoy your weekend!

GQ - I can't get on with the National Express website either. I can't seem to book for certain stops that I KNOW the darn coach stops at. They also used to give disabled rates as long as you had proof of your disability (my council issued partially sighted card) but now you have to buy a disabled coach card to get the discount. Not impressed . For wherever I want to go it always works out much cheaper (& quicker) to go by train. Hope it all works out for you.

    Hugs to all.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

Kidcat so pleased your Dd is on the mend - can I borrow your GP for a few weeks, we seriously need one with some brain cells!

GQ I think your broadband was sabotaged by someone who is jealous of your tinned toms and pies :rotfl:

Shergar, I do hope you manage a rest soon, wish I had a magic wand that worked on the NHS to get you the help you need. OH was up all night due to some worry or other and then slept on and off all afternoon. Am thinking of sewing a coathanger in my clothes so I can just hang on the back of the bedroom door and be ready to help all the time :( but at least he can do some things for himself so I am lucky. My head gives me a warning 'lie down now ginny cos we have taken away your ability to think, knit or even watch carp on the tv until you sleep' sadly always at the wrong time.

Smileyt I knew you were either busy or wrangling some problem or other as I had not heard from you. Its easy to get meds mixed up, hope they get themselves in order in your body and work through xx hugs xx

Yea I know what you mean about coat hanger/door.......Ive got a wee bit of good news Ive got social services to take hubby in respite for a week under pressure though, but ive got it, so he go in Monday for a week, my son and his wife are taking me to Tenerife for that week so im off to get a weeks break and some sunshine and do !!!!!! all......

I dont like to come on here sounding too happy about it cos most of you lot could also do with a week away in the warm, so im thinking of all you out there with problems yourselves and your families........so I do feel a bit guilty really........But at the same time Im desperate for that break, they got the holiday pretty cheap because of last minuet bookings.........Just had the cam belt done on my car £358....:eek:MOT £102.......in the same week, rosie our little chihuahua, is nr 15 and as had a lot of pain this lately, me fearing the worst took her to the vets, and £101.40 later, antibiotics/painkillers. Ive been told that she have some serious gum and tooth problems and she is in pain so back to vets today to have teeth out, in the end out come 9 teeth:eek::eek:, believe it or not by this afternoon we could see an improvement in her her tail was up and she seemed less pained........£320 I hope so...:eek: So I bought her some nice soft food for her and she tucked in to the small tin , eat the lot...:T Then I had my fathers funeral flowers bill come in at £127. so ive near on spent £1000 in a week..:eek:....WOW.....Even if I had had dogs insurance I dont think any company will ins for dogs teeth........So out of the £1000, I had to pay out none of it was for luxury items, all essentials........Been nice here today but a bit chilly, sun shone all day and got all the bedding dry .........

Awwweee Shegar, don't even feel a bit guilty. You so deserve this break and I hope you have a wonderful time. I know time away can make such a difference to your well- being and you will feel like a new person. I know what you mean about vet bills and teeth, I need to take [STRIKE]mine[/STRIKE] not my teeth, the dog :rotfl:to the vet for a check up but hoping they say her teeth/gums are fine. Everything seems to happen at once, a £1000 seems to vanish in no time!

Anyway, next week, relax and have fun! No worrying about anything.

    Evening Everyone!

It has been a glorious day here, most unexpected as not entirely what was forecast, but I'm not going to complain! Ditched our plans to go to the wholesalers and went and did some gardening instead :rotfl:.

I seem to have tweaked something in my leg - top of thigh at the back, OH say could be hamstring, but not being at all sporty I have no idea what or where my hamstring is! It is jolly uncomfortable, worse as the garden is mainly slopes and I really need one leg to be substantially longer than the other to work comfortably. I don't know why it seems to happen that you just get rid of one minor ailment (dodgy knee from too much log splitting) and another comes along to make like just that little bit more difficult. The first sun-downer of the season (g&t) watching the tide come in did make things feel rather better!

Since I fixed the cctv of bird feeder up to the TV the cat has been transfixed - this from a mog that barely raises an eyelid at anything (although he is currently begging for chorizo from OH's pizza). He just sat up yesterday and peered at the screen with all his whiskers bristling and started making little chatters. At least we know he can do them no harm, and that he can actually see. He only has one 'good' eye and I was convinced his eyesight had deteriorated as he kept bumping into things. Clearly he is just clumsy :). To be honest, we are transfixed too - it certainly is very relaxing, and time passes in a blink of an eye. Who would have thought watching little birdies having their tea could be so mesmerising!

Does anyone know about travel insurance and pre-existing conditions? My ex is taking DD on holiday Europe/Africa and has taken out basic travel insurance although he's told her it covers seizures. I don't believe him. Plus he won't take any notice of anything I say. I'm guessing there is a way around this, but what? Very worried.

All conditions have to be declared - I have been told recently that we must now declare DS8 autism to insurers. Seizures are a greatly increased risk and as such must be declared and covered. That said I have no idea whether there are any insurers that cover seizures as standard. Although a friend of ours always struggles when she takes her OH abroad as he is epileptic.

Thanks Kidcat, that's how I understood things too. I may need to chat to her SW's although they may take the stance it is not their problem. I have been looking online, I'd take out a policy if it means she's covered. I know autism should be declared. I doubt any of it has been by ex. The more I push the worse it gets with ex, so I have to tread carefully. I'll call one of the travel insurers after the bank holidays and have a chat. Just wish he would take on the responsibility load every so often.

:D LOL I'm WELL CHUFFED today, DD's BF came over and fixed up the nesting box with a camera I got reduced in Ald! last year! I wonder how long it will take before they discover it? The ordinary nesting box I put up first year here, has been used for two years now (but TBH I think we missed the first season) So never mind your cat, I think I shall spend hours watching ;)

OK so here is a laugh...I'm going walking in the Preseli's tomorrow! I'm going up Carn Menyn to the Preseli blue stone site with a mate of mine, and a friend of hers...I've borrowed poles, made cake :D and cracked out a new pair of springy insoles for my most sensible shoes. So if Mrs C. thinks she's stiff today, wait until you hear from me Saturday! LOL!

Be sure to wave over to me Mrs. C. I'll be the little figure on top of the world!

    Kate
