Katieowl - I hope your daughter manages going back to uni. Are the counselling services that you mentioned part of her uni? If not, can she get some help from them? I had an athiest friend at uni who lost her Dad suddenly & violently, & she found the anglican priest a huge source of comfort - he always had time for her whenever she needed to talk (rather than being constrained to an appointment) & religion was never discussed so there was no pressure on her to go to church etc. She said that after what had happened she certainly wasn't going to start believing in God now. He was a wise old soul, very experienced in life & students & did her the world of good. Maybe her uni chaplain could be helpful?

I'll suggest it to her. She had an appointment booked with the uni counsellors, which she cancelled because of coming home. I might suggest also that she calls them before she goes back and tries to get another one for then.

Well to change the subject....the weather here is foul! I have B&B people, so goodness knows what joys the day will bring for them. I know my dogs won't go out ;) my friend was having DS for some outside work today, but she's cancelled that too...so he can have some more beauty sleep :rotfl:

I have a lovely day moving stuff around planned, as we just HAD to find more storage space for food (I blame approved foods :rotfl:) and OH suggested a new set of shelves in the laundry for non-edibles, would free up space in the Armageddon cupboard, and he thinks it's suitable for my non-tins and jars stuff too...he says it will be as dry as a warehouse anyhow. I still think I will want to keep my 20K of sushi rice indoors :D so need to figure that out.

I'm due in w*rk later this afternoon for a cake making marathon...the plan is to make hummingbird and carrot cakes to freeze so we have plenty over the weekend! I can whip them out and frost them in a trice, and they don't take long to defrost. I'll also make some of the GF lemon and almond polenta cake, as we simply sell it as fast as I make it. There are so many people now who don't/can't eat wheat!

I have the odd psychic flash...It's usually pretty mundane stuff. A good read if you are interested on the non-otherworldy side of that is Blink (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blink-The-Power-Thinking-Without/dp/0141014598/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333533773&sr=8-1) I found it quite thought provoking.

Mainly I am clair-audient, and I 'hear' things that others don't. When I was a kid I heard Katherine Howard's ghost in Hampton Court - I knew nothing about the previous history of the long gallery, and I certain freaked my mum out completely when apparently all the colour drained from my face and I asked her "Who is that screaming?" I can tell you to this day I can hear it every time I remember it and it makes my blood run cold just thinking about it...Katherine wasn't even executed in Hampton court so this is a 'psychic imprint' on the building, which is different from a haunting (apparently)

Katherine Howard was arrested in Hampton Court and she managed to evade the guards for a few minutes and ran screaming down the corridor to try and beg Henry VIII for mercy. He sat in the Chapel Royal with tears rolling down his face. She didn't get to him and was dragged away, still screaming

Yes.. and she was very distraught indeed. I can vouch for that!!!

She was executed three months later at the Tower, having been held somewhere else in the meantime.

Wow Kate, that's amazing. Thanks also Mary for the history behind it. Very interesting.

Did you ever watch that ghostly series with Yvette Fielding? They had nothing like that, not that I watched them all and they made me even more cynical.

Evening all, thank you for all your lovely wishes, am pleased to say that DD has been sent home with her IV in and the nurses will visit to give her the necessary medicines. She looking alot brighter and the spots are starting to fade. The doctors are saying that the speedy action of our GP has most definitely saved us major problems. We are so grateful.
DS has fretted dreadfully and was so happy to see us home, he keeps checking we are both still here.

Its shocking to hear of so many having had this - its awful, and I had always thought rare, but obviously not. I must admit I had always had a very it wont ever happen to us attitude but know so much better now. :)
:D Really glad your DD is on the mend, kidkat. My broadband connection keeled over on Sunday morning and I've been following the thread (but not posting) from work on breaktime. Just come off the phone with tech support and we've done some disnostic stuff and the prob is with BT up at the exchange. Techie guy was going to raise a fault and BT would have to fix in 24-48 hrs and then blow me if the broadband didn't come back up again!

Dunno how long I'm here for so just to send ((big hugs)) to you all in case I'm about to be sundered again............

Kidcat - so relieved to hear about your DD.

Still feeling vile here, but I think getting a little better as the day goes on although this sore throat just doesn't go away . I'm starting to get cabin fever too, but at least this "holiday" has been very MSE! Amazingly I've not lost any weight, despite not eating for almost a week - must be lots of calories in lozenges :rotfl: Could all of you with healing powers send healing thoughts my way please - on Monday I have a 5 hour train trip with 2 kids & 3 suitcases (including crossing London on the tube which is fun for any fully sighted adult with no baggage :D) which I am dreading if I still feel like this....

Byatt - it does help knowing people are thinking about you, doesn't it? Even if you don't know them in RL! I wouldn't like to see any of the things you have described either, bless you.

I did dream about a lass I haven't thought of in over 10 years last night - she was sat inside my washing machine eating from a box of cornflakes, yet looked at me as if I were the barking one when I asked her what she was doing. What on earth is that all about? Maybe it is too many lozenges :rotfl:

Have I missed something - why would Mrs Chip want a Borat mankini?
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

Oooh - havn't been around for a couple of days & so much is happening!
kidkat - hope everything is progressing well for your DD.
gardenia - maybe the mankini is for Mr Chip - A new marketing ploy?

Very interested to hear about all you 'sensitives' & your experiences. I think I'm about as sensitive as a brick - but years ago I did get very interested in Tarot card reading. I was given a set & used to use them on occasions. I did find they were very accurate but you need to use them regularly to interpret what you are seeing. Havn't done it for years but I still keep the cards & I'm particular how they are treated.
Off subject - I've just finished reading 'The Notebook' by Nicholas Sparks. It was so lovely it made me cry and I DONT do that!

Hugs to all - needed or not :)

    Hi, Gardenia,

a couple of years ago, I had a dreadful sore throat for weeks, and eventually dragged myself to the Gp, so tearful with the pain and exhaustion. He took a look and said he thought it wasn't part of the virus I'd had, but my throat had been scarred by coughing (can't remember exactly how he phrased it). Anyway, he recommended rinsing (gargling) my throat in Diflam, which basically disinfected and numbed my throat for a few hours, gave me relief from the pain, and soothed it too. A few days later, I was right as rain. Oh the relief!!I still remember it now!

Didn't need a prescription, just over the counter at the pharmacist. Would definitely try it again with any throat that won't sort itself out.

Failing that, as it's gone on for a while, might be an idea to see your GP?

HTHs and really hope you feel better soon

    LB xx

Today we took our elderly neighbour to the docs for an appointment with the nurse. Our neighbour is 91 and shuffles along on two sticks. She has to go to the nurse to have ulcerated legs dressed and to the chiropodists at the same surgery. There was a time when they would visit - but not any more. The surgery is in the centre of town, access and car parking is a nightmare and, in order to get our neighbour near the steps (!) we were almost blocking in traffic and deliveries to the surgery.
Her daughter (who visits her at least once a day) usually does this, but is on a few days much needed break, so we offered to help.
I think this is disgraceful, that a 91 year old lady has to visit the surgery when she has difficulty even walking and getting in to the car! Cutbacks is it? Why should the elderly and vulnerable have to suffer cutbacks like this?
Rant over...but I'm still inwardly fuming
