IOIWE, the only thing I can suggest (per hospitals instructions for DD's ankle) is rest.
Well I washed my curtains; they are a charity shop find, home made but well made and look as though they have never been used. They needed freshening up as they had the eau de CS scent. I put in a cold wash and minimum time, and they are now on the line.
Greenbee, one curtain had the WM holes as I didn't take it out straight away! :rotfl:
They are for the winter, hanging at the 2 doors I have in my room. I'm trying to be super organised.
Spendless, I do have a steamer, so thanks for reminding me. I will use it for the future though, once they are nicely aired.0 -
I've been knitting flowers rather than planting them and I'm now working on a hat for when the weather changes again.
I'm also baking Madeleines. Lemon and vanilla onesSomething I don't do that often as I get fed up of waiting for the batter to sit for 90 minutes. I want a whole, huge, iced and filled cake in that time normally.
I would even manage to kill knitted ones
I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine :j
Mothers visit on Wednesday went quite well , no !!!!!ing, moaning, pulling me down etc. The only comment was she didn't know how my back got so bad as I never really worked.........realising what she had said she changed it to well working in an office on computers and numbers is hardly hard graft is it??.........ummm really??? I let it ride and tried not to snigger when DH pulled a face and rolled his eyes behind her backall in all it was probably one of the best visits I have ever had from her so was quite relieved.
Thursday I pushed myself painting fences and pushed it even more by giving Womble his first shower and boy did he need it, the water was as black as pitch. We now have a lurrrrvly clean WimbleWomble .
Some time ago I had a lady from the local charity shop come to look at the foster cats in the pen in the garden and she was delighted with the set up. The lady said if I had another pen she would definitely have me to look after her cats when she went away as she said her cattery charged a fortune and none of them round here are very nice. Yesterday I had to take some receipts for the fostering to the accountants and they run a cattery. The house was gorgeous but the cattery was quite dark and gloomy no wonder people don't like sending their babies. Small family cattery business??
Today DH and I have managed to clear some stuff from the greenhouse and when Aunt C came round I got her planting seeds with me so hopefully something will grow.
I am quite frustrated at still not being able to do things but I am a lot happier now it is sunny.
On our walks this morning we walked up the road to where the roadworks are (causing mayhem) and we had to laugh (and I took a pic) at the workmen resting the JCB bucket part on a pile of drain covers so they don't get pinched, I don't know if I laughed at how bad things have become or the simple solution they came up with. We will probably read in the paper they bent them and the council tax will have to go up a fiver to buy new ones.
The news has not been on in this house all week, I have not even watched anything to do with the budget............I will not tolerate pending doom while the suns out shining, I will read up when its raining and I can hide under the bed covers.
Don't forget the clocks go forward tonight, I woke DH half hour early this morning and will only have half hour pinched off us tomorrow so not quite the shock, well thats my reckoning anyways
PIC x0 -
Was cool and grey for most of the day here, just got sunny very briefly in the middle of the afternnon. I on the couch with ME again so I didnt care lol!
The husband starts changing the clocks early here, so for most of the day we have been in time zone RV instead of GMT lolol0 -

Hurts like f*ck but friction will help. Probably a physio, but a good sports massage therapist can do it too. Just be prepared to find out exactly where your pain threshold is
PIC - office jobs cause more back problems than manual ones, so your mother doesn't know what she's talking about. Sounds like you really just want to run a zoo anyway, so maybe the physical work and fresh air and furry friends would be the answer to your back problem. I have had back problems since I was a child (L4 and L5 for nosy people) and it was only about 10 years ago that I finally worked out what works for me, and now I manage my life in a way that suits me and ignore what everyone else thinks/says I should do.0 -
Well done PIC- I would love to run a cattery but OH is not keen, I always think that maybe when the kids are older we will buy a small place with enough land to run a tiny cattery - just for the cuddles!!
Clocks going forward are a pain - OH is at work tomorrow which makes it a real issue, he gets up at 3.30am anyway, so uses his mobile phone as alarm. Trouble is there is no way of telling whether his phone will automatically update, or when it will update, mine finally updated itself at 2pm last year - when i had already done it! So it all gets a little sticky in the timing dept.
When I was a church warden it was always fun guessing the ones who had forgotten - we used to have a good chuckle at the red faces!
Velvet curtains - have never had any so wouldnt have a clue, we have some suede type ones that were here when we moved in, and I assume they arent washable but its hard to know.
Weather has been lovely which means the ice cream van is back - cue kids all begging each time he sits outside with his music playing - am not impressed - I dont mind as a treat occassionally but cannot possibly afford it twice daily. It would be nice if he varied where he parks so that I am not the only one plagued by him.0 -
Mardatha - I have started adjusting ours early this year too - am hoping it helps both DS adjust tomorrow, but as DS13 is sleeping out tonight its going to be awkward.0

Thanks for the clock reminder! Am I right, it;s 'spring' forward?
Got to be up early for the Grand Prix! Go Jensen! :rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
:j IOIWE mega congratulations on the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, due to temps pushing 20 degrees, blazing blue skies and blossoms on the trees, I spent most of the day at the allotmentino which means that I can barely move my lower back at the moment.......trying to decide on Deep Heat ointment versus jamming a hot bottle into the small of my back and lying on the sofa; what's the verdict?
I got sunburned on my fizz weekend before last (and peeled, O the joys of being a redhead) so I jammed a wide-brimmed sunhat on today. Probably looked daft but I'm a big girl and can cope with embarrassment. A mate reckons you can always tell a gardener; we're the ones who have a tan by Easter.:)
I laughed so hard I nearly fell over in my steel-toed gardening boots today because of something I was hearing. The local ice cream van was cruising the streets near the lottie and it had "Greensleeves" as it's tune. Only there was something wrong with the motor playing it and it kept getting faster and faster and faster......... Can you imagine A-ceeed Greeensleeves?! All I needed was a strobe and a whistle and I coulda been having a rave up there.:rotfl:
I've prepped the patch I'm planting onions sets into tomorrow but I have chosen to leave 6 clumps of red dead nettles in the middle of it as they are so very popular with bees and there isn't too much for the little darlings to sip at this time of the year. I counted 4 different bumble bee species on them (little black 'uns, big black 'uns with red b*ms, big yellow and black stripy jobbies and small toffee-coloured ones). I expect I should look on the interweb and get their names right......they're all bombus something-or-other, aren't they?
Last year I had a nest of the red-bottomed ones and I have seen several bees making what look like low-level exploratory flights over [STRIKE]the untidy bit at the top of the lottie[/STRIKE]ooops, I meant to say the uncultivated bit which I have preserved as a natural meadow especially for the wildlife.
At least, that's what I will tell the allotment officer if cornered..........:p
meme30 ouch, that was quite a tumble you took on the grand staircase. I'm just above 6 foot in any kind of heel but feel a bit vulnerable as I'm proportionally long in the leg so have a high centre of gravity and am prone to fall over in anything higher than a 2 inch heel. Not to mention feeling like Bambi on ice. Gotta ask (no obligation to answer my unbridled nosey-ness); was you DH your fiance before you flashed your garter belt or was that the deal-maker.............:rotfl:
OK, time for my medication. Nuuuuuuurrrrrrrrssssssssseeee!!!!! IV tea drip needed over here, if you please!
OWWWW!!! Ruddy woman just clouted me upside the head for being cheeky! Comes to something when your own imaginary flatmates start picking on you. Sure you don't want her back SDG? Or even Smiley? I'd send the mattock with her if it would seal the deal..............Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Just de-lurking to say that I wash all my curtains in the washing machine -even the expensive velvet ones - they are all dry clean only. The reason is usually because the lining may shrink at a different rate to the curtain. I have never had this happen but I do only cold water wash them. I even put the ones with the metal rings through without any probs. They are all 90 x 90 curtains.
My xxxxxx cat sprays on my curtains if I am not quick enough to stop him, and I think I would be bankrupt from dry cleaning costs if I had to pay them each time!
Back to lurking............. liloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
I vote for the hot water bottle, sofa and copious amounts of tea GQ0
