I've been knitting flowers rather than planting them and I'm now working on a hat for when the weather changes again.

I'm also baking Madeleines. Lemon and vanilla ones :D Something I don't do that often as I get fed up of waiting for the batter to sit for 90 minutes. I want a whole, huge, iced and filled cake in that time normally.

No idea Byatt, never had any velvet curtains.

Am back from family lunch. had a great time and hind leg fell off the donkey today!
DH has gone to work and I have the house to myself. It's going to be a dressing gown on early night, with a book and a bar of chocolate:)

    meme - sounds heavenly.

Am full of cold so have had a quiet day ( well quiet as possible with the kids here) OH at work so its been quite peaceful - house tidy, kids putting stuff away after themselves, TV switched off, kids playing with toys rather than glued to TV.

How were you thinking of washing them? When I was an older teenager/young adult Mum had expensive velvet curtains thru-out (except bedrooms/bathroom/kitchen). Periodically she would send them to the dry-cleaners and they always came back several cms shorter (we could tell cos of where they measured to on the radiators under the windows). I think I'd be tempted to try steaming first if you have or can borrow one in a discreet area.

Byatt - I always machine washed my velet door curtain. I think a lot of people didn't or don't because if they are big thick curtains they don't fit in the washing machine.

Eta - they do need a good blow on the line/steam after as otherwise the impression of the WM drum holes stays on them!

Having said that, a friend who makes curtains says they should never be washed, just hoovered...

physio or massage if you are brave enough, and strapping from your inside ankle bone, under the foot and up to the knee. Your pharmacist should be able to help. Get some tape to put under the strapping though or you'll never get it off!
