My god I'm in severe shock that anybody would kill for a vegetable. I would be far more likely to kill anybody who tried to make me eat the bloody things!
the tomatoes were "Latah".
Thanks Mardatha as for veg after a week of eating fast food for every meal, chippy dinners, pizzas and frozen ready meals - I would swap my first born for a plate of veg.0 -
Oh me too! We have been eating all sorts of carp for convenience and using up the contents of the freezer - I am dying for a lovely dish of something green! I have been day-dreaming about huge dishes of steamed pak choi in oyster sauce! OH cannot comprehend why anyone would want to eat a meal consisting entirely of veg.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0
-
I couldnt decide tonight whether I wanted a giant mushroom, steamed asparagus or cauliflower and broccoli cheese bake!!0
-
Sorry Mardy - me too! I love potato daupinoise with a huge pile of steamed savoy cabbage or cavolo nero. My OH thinks I'm mad as I had the veggie option a couple of times while we were away - he just saw the holiday and eating out every day as a chance to consume as much meat as possible on the grounds that the veggie options weren't any cheaper anyway!
Got back from our visit to Centre Parcs yesterday, had an amazing time and feel so much better for the break. The kids both had a wonderful time and DD loved the kids club, DS went too on the Wednesday - charmed all the staff for the first hour, had his snack and milk then conked out for the rest of the session! DD has used her walker loads and she is getting really good with it, the staff their both at the club and in all the restaurants, cafes and activities couldn't have been better or more accommodating.
DD got her DLA award the week before we went and came back to find her new blue badge and the letter saying I had been awarded Carers Allowance had arrived in the post. It's been so good for all of us that we will be setting a little of this aside for another CP break at the end of the year. OH and I are getting married in the autumn so think we'll all go after that.0 -
I've had my toad in the hole with red wine and onion gravy, carrots, petit pois and cauliflower.......Mmmmmmmmm it was yum
When I was pregnant with DS1 I had morning sickness from H*LL and could only eat KFC and curry and drink cola without bringing it straight back up for about 3 months. We used to live around the corner from a drive through KFC and I used to send DH out for buckets of the stuff at 9.45pm and then eat the leftovers for breakfast. There were days I would have killed for the ability to eat something else.
With DS2 DH used to come home and ask what we were having with petit pois for dinner. I used to eat them by the pound.0 -
Byatt, you'll have a whole new wardrobe if you keep going with finds like that.
Mardatha, I'm afraid I'm a veg lover too. In fact my only big upset from this diet is the lack of tomatoes, onions and spices!
I've got a bit of a pumpkin obsession at the moment, you can do so much with them. Though I can't grow anything here, rellies grow it and it grows like stink with a good watering. Might be a nice one to consider for you gardeners?
Stiltwalker, congrats on your planned holiday, it sounds lovely. It'll be so good for you to have these things to look forward to.
SDG31000... KFC curry and cola. Oh my  My mother had an orange obsession when she was having me, specifically clementines. Her friend had a pickled beetroot one. Mum used to take her to the wholesalers for it and she'd finish one of the catering jars just on the way home. Surprised her child didn't look like a ribena berry.
Off to the MIL's for sunday lunch today. Love to all!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Kidcat - my voice is just recovering at the end of my third week without it ... Just thought I'd warn you! During that time I didn't want to eat veg... Week 1 I didn't want anything till the end and then it was jelly and ice-cream. I added yogurt, then chicken stock with peas and sweetcorn, and built up to soup. Because of the sweating from the fever I developed a massive salt craving, so then added cheese, and finally bread, so ended up eating carbs and fat. I'm now trying to return to normal, but all my throat really wants is cold dairy (especially frozen yogurt!) pretty much constantly.
Today was spent clearing up the garden which now looks lovely and tidy. However, because I travel so much for work growing veg isn't really sensible, so apart from a few things in pots which I will buy as plugs (no point in buying packets of seeds when I only want two of anything) I won't have veg0 -
Stilitwalker - lovely news, have always fancied a centre parcs trip
SDG - mine was fruit with all of mine, when I was working whilst pregnant with DD17 I was lucky there was a fresh fruit barrow right outside - I think I kept him in business that year.
Greenbee - that sounds awful, am hoping mine is just a strain but by the feeling in my chest I think its likely something else, but just hoping I make it past Tues for DS birthday and dinner.0 -
Pregnancy cravings:- mine was pork pies and marrowfat peas! still love them, they have become one of my comfort foods! :rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0

Well dinner is sorted, ironing is done, it's glorious outside so washing is out.
Am going to indulge myself, (sounds naughty!?) and am going to make some Microwave Lemon Curd and some Microwave Strawberry Jam. Will taste all the nicer because the fruit was reduced! :j I have made the Lemon Curd before, it's so simple to do and much nicer than the bought stuff. I'm hoping the jam is as good. Am being a blur this morning, I think its the sunshine, it's kicked the 'get up and go' out of my bottom! It doesn't look any smaller tho.
Will probably need a lie down later to get over myself! :rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0
