Oh Kidcat what a day you have had, just hope stitches stay put now. Have you any glycerine as that is soothing on the throat - if so and any lemons mix them together for a home made throat soother. Sending both you and son lots of love and hugs.

GQ I to have been busy with Chicken by products and put it around the fruit bushes, strawberries and the first two rhubarb crowns I have go in the ground, only another 5 to go. Luckily the chicken ones are in pellet form so not to bad, but there is a nice 'hum' around the garden now.

I did get to the garden centre yesterday, but luckily as friend came over ( I had totally forgotten she was coming) by the time she left and I got ready didn't get there till gone 5pm and they close at 5.30pm so didn't have much time to look round and get side tracked. I had a voucher for the organic chicken manure £5.99 instead of £11.99 for 10kg, if not I would not have bought it as I discovered they are doing 70lt sacks of Farmyard Manure also organic £5.99 each or 3 for the price of 2, so got 3 sacks as our little car couldn't cope with more. In all the years I have been going there I have never seen this so it will be used when I actually get the raised beds in place and mix it with the topsoil and compost ready for the vegetable plants. I guess it will 'hum' a bit more than the chicken manure. Am pleased I can buy bigger sacks of it as usually round here the biggest size of manure chicken or any other is 2 kg boxes for £5 so has cost me a fortune to manure my pots so was dreading what it would cost to add it to raised beds.

I fully expect some neighbour to moan about the smell from my garden when I use the Farmyard Manure but as the smell the comes from the fields round the corner can really make your eyes water sometimes I will not let them upset me.

So only other things I bought at the Garden Centre were just one tray of pansies and a trowel - I knew I had a few but couldn't find them, so was lucky got a lovely one that should have been £15.99 but they were selling last few from last year at £2.99, I compared them with this years and could not see any difference at all, both rosewood handles and stainless steel trowel part with lifetime guarantee but not complaining.

When I got home I walked into kitchen and saw two of my other trowels. For Christmas one of the presents son and family had bought me was a gardeners companion, a stand that has two different sized trowels, small fork, twine, wooden name pegs and fold up knife. It has been sitting on floor in kitchen in front of one of my cupboards and I am always moving it every time I need to go into said cupboard, at least once a day yet I had searched everywhere for the trowels but eyes had just gone over this. Luckily the new trowel is a different width to other two so not a total waste of money. I know I have others and am sure I will find them somewhere obvious sooner or later.

Byatt am really pleased for you over the wonderful bargains you have picked up, I hope you find many more, does you good to have new things to wear, a real pick me up and you could do with it after what has been happening.

Do you know I am finding I am really enjoying writing about myself on my site/blog. Its good writing about all the thoughts that go round in my head and other things i wish I had someone to tell. I guess its like a therapy. I write about all sorts then add photos. Instead of sitting here feeling sorry for myself I just write there, even paid for the domain name now - the grand total of £1.25 as the place had 90% off the .eu domain, obviously in the hope you buy hosting from them but I have just had it added to the Google site I started with. I have already used 5% of the space they give you for a site. I am keeping it as here with no personal details though I think that is the best although anyone who knows my doggies would know its me as have put photos of them on it.

Pregnancy cravings - over my first it was KFC I lived on it all I every wanted, our only one in town used to stay open till 11pm and I would be found there just before it closed nearly every night, still love it although rarely have it now, daughter used to love it and chicken was always her favourite when she was growing up. Second nothing stayed down and spent most of it on a drip in hospital in private wing - didn't pay was just put in my own room as was in there for the duration, so family and friends could come and stay all day and night if they wanted to. One thing I was very lucky over was one of the meds they tried me with but didn't work turned out to be similar to oh sorry mind gone blank over the word, but caused birth defects. I only took it a week and stopped when didn't help, phew when I read about the problems a few years later was I glad I did. Other two pregnancies I had no cravings and took no medications after my near miss

Jeepers at it again written lots about myself here, got to keep it on the site now.

    Hugs and Love to everyone

Mrs C, I have moved around a lot so tend to "move on" now without too much heartache. I think the process of sorting through things and letting go emotionally is helpful though, and yes, bickering happens when emotions are high. Nonetheless, I wish for you both a smooth and stress free move tomorrow.

Sorry to hear of your unpleasantly busy day Kidcat. Your kids sound like I was as a child, frequent flyers in casualty! I still have the scar on my head from when I was about 4 or 5 and thought I could fly....
Glad they managed to stick it together again quickly and hope your throat eases soon.

Good luck with the move Mrs C and congrats on the new chickens PIC.

Pretty tired here, so not up to much today.

PAH, I think farmyard manure has a nice smell, but maybe I'm used to worse as surrounded by farms! And accompanying smells.:cool:

Thanks PAH, yes, I am really chuffed with my bargains; I think I ought to do the lottery because I've been so lucky these last few days. :T I don't usually buy clothes for myself; so wear something to death. I noticed my cord jeans were worn on the seat, as I was hanging them out on the line yesterday! Thank goodness I wear long tunics.

Writing is very therapeutic. I know counsellors encourage people to do this; writing a journal or diary. I'm glad you are enjoying it PAH, and as I said, it will help others too I am sure of that. And I love reading your posts!

Just watching Wild at Heart, I didn't know lions could swim so well.

Well it must be spring as I have felt inspired to have a good sort over the last couple of days and the living room now looks respectable again! We have a terrible habit of just dumping things on the bookcases (yes we have 4, used to be 5 but I needed room for the travel cot to protect DS from his sister's hugs!) and it gets to the stage where you can't see the books, just the junk in front and on top of them. (Hangs head in shame) All sorted now and I have thrown or recycled all the accumulated tat.

Will have to sort the garden now and get my seeds in, will wait til after DD's birthday next week before I turn half the dining room into an impromptu plant nursery. I'm doing the same as last year and doing a cake buffet drop in with a whole selection of cakes on the dining room table, brews and wine/beer on offer to help yourselves. Nice and easy and means I actually get to see people rather than spending the whole time in the kitchen. Must put some paper plates on the shopping list as I'm not letting the burgers loose on my good crockery! :D

Can't believe she's going to be 3 - where does the time go?

When I had laryngitus years and years ago, the nurse told me to whisper instead of talking/shouting as it was louder than me trying to talk and less exhausting. Does that make sense?? Don't know what else you could take though.

kidcat - As I'm just getting over this, here are my suggestions...

Avoid speaking... I kept being told the whisper to avoid damaging my vocal chords, then to avoid whispering as it dried them out. So in the end I gave up and that seemed to help.

Fizzy water/lime cordial/lemon barley water - all easier to drink than still water for some reason.

Lots and lots of cough sweets as you need something to generate saliva and keep your throat from getting dry. I like the little ricola herbal ones, and alternated sugar free with ordinary. It's also worth getting some medicated ones but that depends on your allergy. You can imagine how many packets I've got through in three weeks. All the stock I'd got from approved food thinking they'd be helpful for work is gone...

Gargle if you can - I couldn't because if I move my neck it cuts off the air supply, and I couldn't work out how to gargle. Ask at the pharmacy what you can have. Even salt water gargle is apparently helpful.

If it's not in your lungs, then cold dairy products (yogurt/ice cream/frozen yogurt) are soothing. And if eating is a problem have jelly too :)

And most importantly, rest your voice...

    Hobson's Choice....they still make California Syrup of Figs....have some in fridge DD bought on last visit for DGD3;

Kidcat... chop couple cloves garlic, boil for 10 mins, add honey and lemon and drink liquid....have found it useful although not the tastiest drink you will ever have.

Mrs Chip...good luck with your move to-morrow....I have moved only 5 miles in my life, am now where I want to be, in the house that my great grandmother was born in....
