Mrschip:- Good luck in your move today, It's going to be a long busy one so am sending you a virtual bar of chocolate and a glass of wine for when you finally sit down tonight!
Kitcat:- it's always the weekends when kids do this...just cos you have nothing else to do. Sounds like it turned out ok tho, it could have been much worse. As an ex-nurse (no not related to Greyqueen's strange and unnatural creature) I like to get in there with a needle and a pair of scissors. DD's got used to it...Grandchildren hide! Don't understand it!
PAH:- I am a fan of chicken pellets, they work really well and don't need a lot of physical digging. Good for me! Also it's the only time the local cats stop coming in the garden and leaving me their [STRIKE]poo[/STRIKE] presents! I have tried that gel stuff but nothing works like the smelly chicken pellets.
It's a bit of a bu88er scouring the garden before I can let my grandchildren out to play. Any other suggestions from you all would be great!
Hoping for a nice day today as DH is determined to give lawn it's first cut and GDD2 will want to be out there with him. Having just learned to use her scooter, yesterday she 'scooted' her top lip into the garden table! Obviously you can't 'scoot' and look where you are going! Wailing responded well to administration of chocolate button to affected area. :rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
I always relied on an old family doctor's advice "apply chocolate until the crying stops":rotfl:It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Well despite my worst fears, everything fitted into the van, and it is off on it's merry way to west wales. The house is pretty much empty, and it seems very odd. The only one not phased is the cat, who has remained sanguine throughout and is sitting, like the Grand Poobah, on a folded-up quilt in the middle of the living room floor. This is the cat that, at the merest sniff of any packing occuring, would hide under the bed because he knew he would be going in the car. Not once in the last three weeks has he shown any concern about the chaos around him. I bet he gets the wind up come 8 o'clock tonight - he will know it's time to go!
Thanks for all the kind words - whilst this is a major wrench, and a final letting go of all the traumas we have had over the last 12 years with various parents, we will now be at a point we have aways wanted, and with everything crossed, we will have the chance to do some of the things we have always dreamed of.
Nice packing men told us this morning that they will be down and ready to unload at 8am - letter from company said be there by 12 midday to meet them! Good job we are going down tonight and not as we had planned first thing in the morning. OH not too happy about another early start though after a long drive late tonight, but I will be up no doubt, as cough is waking me early.
Hope everyone is having a good day - weather here is fab, a perfect spring day, and a lovely day to say goodbye to the house on.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Awwwweee Mrs C I am excited for your new beginning. I hope all goes smoothly today and tomorrow and the weather stays perfect.
And I hope puss cat doesn't try and hide, although I expect there is no-where he can hide! xxx0 -
Hello Everyone :hello:
I've not been around for some time, mostly due to my lack of organization :rotfl: & poor time management skills (& having a bit of a rough time too).
Nice to be back & I'm off to catch up with a mug or 3 of tea. Hope all of you are doing OK.And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
Slowly catching up, so feel free to ignore comments if they are no longer current...I booked a couple of short breaks for DD and myself when Trave$odge had their sale, thought, great, I'm on the ball for a change, then I got booked for cat sitting at the same time which I can't turn away. The dates can't be changed and are not transferable. So what seemed a complete bargain has turned out not to be.
You could always offer these on eb*y - I got rid of a similar booking on it some time ago, & ended up only £2 down on the whole deal! If you don't "do" eb*y, maybe offer it on here (although not sure of MSE rules) but you could just offer it for free & hope karma catches up with you....Winchelsea wrote: »gardenia101 said (asking about my Quaker meeting):
"That sounds interesting - is that at the meeting house just down from Bog Island?"
That's where I go on Sundays Gardenia - the sustainability meeting was at Bradford-on-Avon! (Was poorly while over there - walked up the wrong hill - too steep for me, and eventually ended up in RUH (main hospital in Bath) on Wednesday - diagnosis angina - now have new meds to cope with!
Are you from Bath then? (Non-residents will wonder about Bog Island!)
I went to university ib Bath & now live about 15 miles away. Many happy memories of Bog... Hope you angina has settled down now - some jolly big hills in Bradford, aren't there.Cleaned the fish tank yesterday which was a job and a half. Bought the biorb filter thingy, which said it was for algae, but not until I opened it did I find out that it is only meant to stay in for 7 days and so I have to buy another normal one. Not impressed.
If you are still having problems feel free to PM me as I have access to a very good fish expert...And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
Hi Gardenia, I had thought of offering it for free. I'm a bit worried because TL say you can't transfer. Anyone want to go to New$uay (family room) at the end of the month for 4 nights??
Good to see you again btw. :T0 -

That was the pin dropping in ere tonight0 -
Wave to pic!
Got a real fright earlier as freezer in garage was out of power!!
Eventually managed to reset it and agreed with dh that "we" would have to be careful to keep an eye on it!! The only person person fiddling with the plug is him but decided to be tactful !
Everyone seemed to enjoy the new meal - meaty macaroni cheese as I added lentils, mushroom and courgette to what looked fairly bland. Decided that to ask everyone what they liked just resulted in a dumbing down and limitation so will try at least one new recipe a week as well as soups, home made bread, curry, pasta or a traditional meal .
Decide to look for a small double bed for spare room as sofa bed is very uncomfortable for visitors and I think may have a broken
mechanism. Spent the morning cutting cardboard strips into 4 foot by six foot three inch lengths taped together to get an idea what will fit in the room. Just have to convince DH it is his idea now.;)"This site is addictive!"
