Morning Everyone
VJsmum I'm so glad that your Dad is doing better. That is great newsI have to admit to being a little jealous at the thought of Easter in Paris. I get to spend Easter in a caravan on a Friend's driveway, which isn't quite the same. It's because DH's cousin and her children are visiting from New Zealand and my DPIL's house is going to be full of people. I'm so looking forward to cooking for 9 to 12 people every mealtime
If I had a choice I would love to go back to La Rosa Hotel in Whitby. We had an incredible break there in 2010 and I've been desperate to get back ever since.
Dinner last night went well. We were down to 10 for dinner instead of the normal 13 and all the food still vanished. The "throw all the herbs and spices into a bowl and see what happens" chicken fajitas worked really well and the Super Scrimpers Lemon Torte recipe was a doodle to make and tasted fab. Here's the link to the recipe- http://www.channel4.com/programmes/superscrimpers-waste-not-want-not/articles/scrimping-dinner-party-menu
I made double the recipe and it cost under £4 for a huge dish of it. I'm going to try adding melted chocolate to it next time instead of the lemon.
Today's plan is to reduce the laundry pile and to see if DH surfaces before midday. It's not something I'm going to bet on, let's put it that way. A trip to the gym might be a good idea as well.
Take care everyone xxxx0 -
We've got snow here too but it's wet so it won't last. It seems really weird having the snow because it has been so sunny and warm all week, then yesterday rain and misty and today snow!
I'm in a bit of a can't be bothered mood today, I think it's because I spent all afternoon yesterday baking, so I'm just going to potter round doing odd bits and pieces.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
We've got snow, and it's settling happily. I need to go outside to empty the dyson, out out rubbish and recycling and get logs and coal0

Am home after a busy (cleaning every cupboard/wall/ceiling) weekend. My heart is plump and full and content. It's amazing how relaxed/chilled a different atmosphere can make you.
We were lucky enough to camp near Kirkudbright during the 80's. We pitched our tent on the foreshore of Brighouse Bay. Rough camping -no facilities, took our own loo. Day time spent swimming/canoeing/fishing etc. Evenings spent around campfires on the beach. Farmer sold the land to the council years later...where we camped is a car park! Nothing stays the same.
Sitting here snuggled up like a fat lazy cat in the sun! Must go and do something!?... no idea what, it's odd when something inside keeps prodding you to move , like a guilty nagging feeling. Probably because I have not even contemplated tonights dinner never mind produced the usual well thought out cordon-bleu masterpiece that is our normal Sunday dinner! :rotfl::rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Blinking 'eck, it's actually snowing. Have had a day of incessant but lightish rain and it's just switched to light snow as it comes up to dusk.
The cats have sensibly gone to bed; at about 10 am, one on each double and snuggled down peacefully. No sign of them stirring even for roast beef. They are truly the dominant species on this planet..........:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Well snow missed us, after the heavy rain this morning it brightened up and was a lovely sunny afternoon but boy was it cold, outside thermometer at one point read -1.5C brrrrrr, heat kicked in last night its still on 18 C where its been all winter and thankfully kept us toasty, and house is nice and warm. Sun alas has gone now but sky more blue than white so looks as its going to get even colder. Am I glad I managed to get all my fruit bushes in last week and most of the strawberries, rest are in a pot snuggled under lots of straw and ones in ground have fleece over them - I actually put it over them ( its on half metal hoops) to stop the dogs walking all over them, never thought it might actually come in handy for bad weather, hope it doesn't get so cold that it kills the spring flowers off as my front and side garden are in parts a sea of yellow, so bright and cheerful.
Think i might have a leak under the sink as this morning I found all the shelves and everything on the was soaking - the sink, washing machine and dishwasher all got into the one outlet pipe and have run both machines and filled and emptied the sink and of course not a drop of water so all I can do is leave the cupboard under it empty for a few days to see if water appears as it might be a very slow leak, so I now have a rather large plastic box ( its 3ft long and 2 1/2 foot high and 18ins wide ( bought but as yet not used lucky for the collection of audio tapes I inherited from dad, he recorded everyone who stood still long enough for him to shove a mic into their face but he never put names on the tapes and I have thousands of them, and one day I am going to have to sit down and listen to every blasted one, a lot will be rubbish as he loved playing around with effects so taped tv, phonecalls ( very naughty) and anything else that took his fancy, but I want recordings of the family, so these are all stuck in bin bags and I bought a few of these big boxes to keep the in, but just lucky I hadn't as I never realised just how much stuff I had under the sink:eek: Unfortunately some of it was boxes of things like washing powder which of course are ruined
\hugs and love to allNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Just had to post a quickie, long story cut short, car broke down on the Skye bridge approx 2 weeks ago. I was on my way to a funeral, car was very poorly and needed lots of tlc (aka lots of wonga). Just had a weekend up there collecting the car and OH suprised me with a nights stay at Claire McDonalds Kinloch Lodge, it was very nice, never slept in such a large bed. On the way back today the mountains looked fab with their covering of snow.

Well have had a look at freezer and I have bare shelves! I need a cooking day to stock up on meals. It's done well, got us through the decorating or bust weeks but is decidedly half naked now.
My brain is a bit cabbaged this morning, (have only had one cup of tea so far!) but lots of ragu sauce comes to mind. Will have a go at making some smoked mackerel fishcakes, not sure who on here put recipe on but thanks anyway! Need more tea.Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
8.33 am...already BEEN to Mr T and a quick stop at ald! for some of their excellent £2.39 hair dye, decided to save petrol and go when I had to drop DS off for the College Bus. "Day off" today but I use the term loosely of course...
I need to sort out my 'badger' bits, hence the hair dye. I want to make a butterscotch banana cake, out of my new Dan Leppard baking book (Book people - good price) , always testing new cakes for work! I need to do washing, go and have a cup of tea with my mate up the road (after the cake...I'll feed some to them!), treated myself to a pack of Sushi for lunch, but that is also research, as I want to make some myself (wonderful tutorials on youtube!) Also need to take my puppydogs out, and do the usual daily rounds of the house.
Tinned rice pudding and a banana for breakfastso ready now to take on the world.
