Agree with the lady who liked the north west coast and the islands. I wish so much we could go back there this summer, its a very special beautiful part of Scotland.0

Snowing here too now - looks like it's on for the day
Mar we may get to meet yet if you ever venture north!0 -
We woke up to heavy snow, been falling since 3 am according to the RV. It's wet snow though so wont last long, but its coming thick and fast. Chickens came out, took one look, screamed and ran back in.
Aww your poor chookies. I miss mine. But apparently the people in charge of the community allotment on my allotment site are going to get chickens this year, so maybe I can have my chookie fix there

Really? We have taken our two on long journeys since they were babes. DS was 2 and DD 4 when we took them to France - it was a 10 hour drive from Calais where we'd stayed. They've not been bothered. We stopped at services regularly that had playgrounds so they could stretch out and we have a DVD player in the back for them. They get a bit bored towards the end but nothing major.
It's no worse than flying a long way - probably better.
Yep, really! We wanted to go to as far north as possible but it's 18 hours travelling, that's not a journey I'd attempt with a 6 year old and a 17month old, more for my sanity than anything :rotfl:Will when they are older, it looks beautiful from what I've seen.0 -
Used to go to Ireland a lot, then Oban/Plockton and the Islands a lot, now its more like Hawick or Peebles a lot
- money seems to go down and down. But also I decided to buy things I needed for the house instead of trying to save while prices went up. We haven't had a brand new suite since 1971 !! - just usually buy good second hand from the yellow paper or Gumtree.
Not much point hanging onto money right now, so am going to revamp the house while I can. I have 2 years worth of Calor gas and 2 coalboxes full, that I think gives us a cushion. Now I'm plotting and scheming how to cut the £5 a week electric bill
I give up with food though - every time I get a new menu plan sorted and a stash squirrelled away - one of us has a health thing and suddenly that food is all no good and I have to start again :rotfl: That's when I come on here screaming at you for meal plans and recipies!0 -
Had my honeymoon in Peebles but did't see much outside the hotel0

I have to admit there have been times when I think we've bitten off more than we should be chewing. Always been worth it though.
Scotland does look beautiful but I always think for that amount of travelling I could go south - where it's warmer with less rain! :rotfl:
Weather is really naff today - chucking it down. I am shattered after a bit of a journey from hell yesterday. Worth it though, dad was his old self - he just can't walk. I think they will move him to a less "medical" hospital soon and start the rehabilitation. It will be a period of uncertainty as I just don't know whether he will get back home, but it's one step at a time at the moment - literally!!!
I am having a lazy day - though I do have to tidy and clean the house and catch up the laundry but I have two days to do it. Then I've got to organise mother in laws 80th birthday present and ice the cake. Hmm so much for a lazy day - I'd better get on! :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I completely forgot Madartha hubby was on low fat diet about 12years ago when his Cholesterol went sky high - only because he kept having bacon baps for breakfast and pies for lunch every day with cakes around 3pm for about 25 years. So it had to come down toot sweet so I bought quite a few recipe books as he will not eat salads, veg only meals and not fond at all of fish unless fried and live without the odd cake or biscuit. I will go digging and see if I can find them, bet they are buried in the study, the room I walk into to start to clear, look at the piles and walk out again, but will see if I can clamber over some bits to reach the far book cases, I know they are not in the ones I can get to as one is now full of cans and other stocks and next one is archaeology and history books...........if I do find them I will copy out some recipes........lucky you with the snow, it rained from about 3 here, which was great for all the fruit bushes and strawberry plants I have been putting in, still more strawberry plants to go, they seem never ending, I think i have planted out about 20 so far, now its dull with low cloud and chilly heat came on for the first time in a couple of weeks - hard to believe last week I was going out in short sleeves.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Glad you dad is doing so well, if he is sent to a specialist rehabilitation unit for the elderly as my dad was last summer he should have an enjoyable stay there as everything is for the over 70's even to having talks being given about life during the war and other things of interest and lots of chance to chat about when they were younger with no-one becoming bored with them, dad said it was more like a luxury holiday camp and certainly seemed it to me.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

we made the mistake of buying 2 [STRIKE]wildly overpriced and poor quality[/STRIKE] leather sofas from DFS. Never again! It took 3 years of monthly payments to pay off and it's not looking too great. The stuffing is rubbish and the leather is startign to peel. Good quality second hand is definitely the way to go, wish OH had let me buy the green velvet sofa for £30 that I wanted instead.0
