If you like fried tatties how about parboiling a few. letting them cool, then slicing and cooking in remoska with a squirt of low fat spray.
You could have a look online at the slimming world recipes for low fat ideas as well. I think they might have a chicken chasseur recipe as well as a lot of traditional ones.
How about a banana split made with frozen low fat yoghurt or a baked apple with instant low fat custard on top?
I made rolls last night so going to offer family bacon or egg butty for brekkie once they surface. Think DH might want trip out to garden centre or nearby town later so might try to replace my shattered teapot at a Poundstretcher or charity shop. I looked in our small town but am not paying £20 or even £12 for one - would rather use the money for plants or something for a dd.
Saw the newspaper headline about petrol prices and glad we got a diesel car that sips fuel rather than gulps it and we don't use it every day.

Read this - the head of British Gas is telling us gas & elect prices will keep going up for the next ten years... and in the next breath tells us we shouldn't moan, we should just ditch Sky tv and mobile phones to pay for it!! He blames it on upgrading work needed on the National Grid - so why can't he pay for that out of their whopping profits then?!

Very good suggestion from Lyn, turkey is the lowest fat meat readily available. But fat acts as a 'carrier' of flavour, which is why most low-fat recipies are full of herbs and spices - to boost up the flavour.
So with turkey you can make a very nice cottage pie, but use plenty of flavourings - marmite or worcester sauce - or even soy sauce gives bags of flavour but you don't take it itself iyswim. And add herbs and veg chopped small. Add extra flavour into the potato (as mine would have loads of butter) by mixing in some steamed leeks.
Also would make good meat patties - minced turkey with S&P and dried herbs, perhaps a bit of minced onion, mix and sqush together and shape into rounds, coat in bisto (yes true) and grill - buy yourself one of those one-cal oil sprays, the fat would be virtually nothing.
You can have ham and cold chook as long as fat cut off and skin off.
Turkey drumstick makes a great stew or soup! Just take the skin off and cook it gently with stock veg - carrots, onion, leek top and stick of celery, until it is very tender. Strain the stock and add stock cube if needed, ad back in some fresh veg and the meat, simmer till veg are done. chuck in some pasta if you fancy it, or pearl barley.
Things on toast - do you like baked beans? No need for butter on the toast. Or mushrooms on toast - I cook the mush in a lidded pan, tiny bit of water, so they essentially steam and let out their juice, take lid of and cook till the liquid has virtually gone then add in some soy sauce or worcester - makes them very tasty. These make a good filling for an omlette too.
Get some low-fat cheese - not particularly nice on its own, but good for adding a bit of flavour.
Jacket spuds - these can be topped with any meat sauces you make, or baked beans.
Dont forget, unless you need to lose weight, cutting out fat removes a lot of calories from your diet, so you need to replace with carbs - bread and jam is fine without butter.
Salad cream - if you like it - has not too much fat but bags of flavour, and can be used to 'moisten' dry food like jacket spuds etc. As do pickles and chutneys.
Got to go and get on with paqcking, but will be thinking of more things as I do - and I'm sure everone will have some great ideas too !Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
As wondercollie answered above it's soya protein - my daughter eats all different kinds and for me its very much an acquired taste. Cauldron (I think) do a pack of smoked tofu in wee chunks that is quite tasty in stir fries, tastes a bit like bacon to me.
Savoury custards a bit like quiche only lower fat for us - no cheese - we dry fry tiny chips of potatoes, mushrooms, onion and peppers, then pour on just enough egg/milk to cover - the idea being to make a deep sided omelette type thing but really solid with veg - lovely hot or cold and really filling. It probably has a proper name!!!!! the work is in chopping the veg tiny so they cook through quickly without any fat or water.

ok magic - I can get turkey mince instead of lamb, and do turkey legs in the crockpot. Stewed fruit and custard is a great idea, as is fruit and frozen yoghurt.
Many many thanks, you're such a good help. I just want you all to come and stay!
oh, and do the cooking.

If you've got decent broadband Mar, I'll be up next week
my floorboards are being replaced upstairs (cheaper than getting carpet which I hate anyway) so the house will be noisy, chaotic and dusty all week! I'll cook in return for a bed and access to broadband so I can work...

Mar - thinking on you can still get very low fat cured Turkey Rashers which are a bacon substitute, and Bernard Matthews do a very thin cut turkey ham as a cold meat both very tasty. If you want some ideas the Rosemary Connley (think thats the spelling) Low Fat cookery books are easy to follow and mostly taste very nice. Good Luck with it . Lyn.0
