Esther, I try and do a few each day now, as like you, it's a waste not to, and somehow I do get to the target eventually. I keep thinking of the months I haven't bothered and how much I would have got! Not a lot probably but still more than *not* doing them. I always mean to be super organised and have lists of the ones I am doing, because I forget, but that hasn't happened yet! Probably not in my lifetime!

Katie, they sound fun, I'll have a look just on the off chance. edit, just joined.

grandma and scrabbles - I have been opening the post anyway - it started as a genuine error she shares the same first name and the first one was a credit card statement from the same company I have, I just glanced at logo and opened it, only when I saw balance did I realise it wasnt mine and look closely, since then I have opened it all and spoke to the companies.

I contacted the builders agent from whom we bought the house today (previous owners pxed house and we bought from builder) and spoke to the lady we dealt with, I have explained the situation and asked that she contact them on our behalf and request that they contact us and immediately change all details. She asked me to send the mail to her and she would forward but I have refused, I am sending it back to the companies concerned.
Oh has pointed out that the insurance documents today include car reg number, we know the new build estate they have moved to, so he is going to quietly drive along and see if he can spot the car, we can then give the address to anyone else looking for them.
One letter today included the husbands employers name too, so I have looked them up and if need be will use that address to contact them. All a bit of a faff though.

Did my shopping tonight, with kids being off havent managed a day time shop, and grabbed a couple of really good whoopsies, including a packet of steak and kidney for 60p and organic steak mince 70p so was really pleased. Also in Mr T grabbed a couple of Ariel colour powder currently on offer for £4 - my eczema wont tolerate nay other brand so I stock up as and when I see good deals.

It helps to have something in mind for the money/vouchers. For me it is Christmas. I save things like supermarket stamps, petrol coupons from Mr M and all my spare change which I cash in at the bank around November. Every little helps as they say so I shall try and earn more than the £30 I did last year.

I started last year following the make money for Christmas thread on the special occasions board but I couldn't keep up with them all and soon got demotivated. That's my problem all round.

Esther, yes it does, I am saving mostly for Christmas. I know some of the make money ideas are good, but I just do my own thing. I think we can do what best suits us as individuals. Set your own personal goals and if they can't be met it's not the end of the world. I know my motivation is all over the place; on good days I'm full of ideas and plans, but then on bad days, not a lot gets done.

I've also bought some pressies already in the sales. So should cover birthdays and most of Christmas.

The mail stuff sounds very dodgy. Aren't they breaking the law where car insurance is concerned not saying where they actually live, because it can affect premiums.

Byatt- yes its an offence under the road traffic act - which I pointed out to the insurance company this morning, I also pointed out that obtaining credit under false pretences was an offence. Policy is now cancelled and OH wants to anonymously report the car as having a driver with no insurance - but hve persuaded him to let me handle for now.

I tried surveys and comping but just wasnt disciplined enough. I am much better at using cashback sites and have now trained my parents to at least consult me before they buy anything major, usually this means I can email the best value place and remind them about cashback, often they will do an online order here which goes through my cashback account making me the money in the process.

I use cashback sites too, and wish I'd known about them sooner! Rarely buy anything if it can't go through cashback.

I'm not disciplined at all, :rotfl:what's that? I remind myself of a bumper car, hurtling around the universe...:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Byatt, Bruno is doing well. He is going to the vet tomorrow to have his staples removed and hopefully this time the wound will stay closed. I will have to remember to ask how long he has to stay on the lead - he loves to roll in grass (and sometimes in unmentionable stuff) so I have to know the wound is healed properly before he goes off on a big roll-fest!

Kidcat I keep getting letters and phone calls for someone who has never lived here but somehow has used this address to get credit. I just send the letters back marked not at this address. The car insurance situation is a bit worrying - will the insurance company write to the person concerned?

smiley - they dont know where they are living to contact them, they refused to give us a forwarding address so we cant tell companies either, simply cancelling everything should force them to change sooner or later, how embarrassing is ti to have your credit card turned down at tills, or your card swallowed at the cash machine, surely it will trigger them contacting all the relevant agencies, as for car insurance I am hoping they will notice that the money is not being debited and contact them, Assuming of course its not deliberate - which if it is deliberate its a whole new game.
The credit card company have said I can attempt to block credit via the credit reference agencies which should also stop insurance, as all insurance companies verify identity using credit reference agencies.

KIDKAT: I hope you can find out where this other person lives and report that. The sooner it is all sorted and stops the better. You have enough on your plate without this.

BYATT: I have never ebayed anything. I would like to have a go but don't really have anything worth selling. I do have a couple of DVDs which I didn't like and thought I would put back on amazon but when I looked at what they were going for it didn't seem worth the bother. I am not very good at keeping books looking like new so don't think it would be worth selling any of them either. By the time I have finished with a new book it looks like a dozen people have read it.

I have used topcashback when I have remembered but even then they very often don't track. I thinki have about £30 on there that has been gathering over about four years. Not very good am I?

Morning ladies

First things first.......... 25 days without a fag :j

I would love to say I am up at stoopid O'clock but unfortunately that would be a fib as I have not slept yet. Two weeks ago I did my back in and have been laid up in bed ever since. This is the worst episode I have had as I could not move a mm in any direction. Had to call the night docs which is such a faff. You ring them, they ring you back then they get someone else to ring you then finally they get a doctor to ring you.

After all those hoops they sent an ambulance with two fabulous ladies. Even though it was 4am they were full of care, understanding and just all round nice ness. I must Email their boss and say how fab they were and what patience they had with the sobbing mess they had to put up with when they got here

DH has been an absolute star. The first few days he had to manoeuvre a bucket at command and as a back sufferer himself he said he has never been so glad to have boy parts IYKWIM :rotfl:

Doc has given me that many pills and potions I am sure I rattle and I am amazed I have not overdosed as who can remember what they have already had when it is 3am, in agony and the packets all look the same

I have spent this time watching carp films in bed. I could not get comfy to read or hold the laptop so I feel like nothing productive has been done with the time at all. Yesterday I managed to get in a bath :j I don't know who was happier me or the bed sheets :rotfl::rotfl:

I am now on day two of getting up and down stairs. The cats have not been combed for two weeks and the house is like a giant fur ball. The boys have been fab and hoovered for me but I think it would be easier if they just hoovered the cats!!!

DH has also been a blinkin star regarding the foster cats. When I did this I promised I would do all the work, cleaning etc and he has coped admirably for someone who does not like cats :rotfl: The four cats we have he calls cat dogs as they are more like dogs so it does not count

I know I can catch up on stuff slowly as I feel better but at the moment I am really struggling with getting any sleep. I am having an hour two or three times a day and last night/earlier I could have cheerfully throttled DH for his snoring/sleeping........yes I am envious and yes I am getting a snappy, mardy begger which is making me feel bad as everyone has been so good.

I have laid there many hours lately and come to the conclusion that it is the little things that make everything worth while.

Being able to get to the toilet by yourself and say goodbye to the bucket!
Laying in bed but being able to look outside at a beautiful blue sky.
Friends who come to visit even though you know you smell, look awful and are the worst company ever.
DS popping in every half hour just to see if I need anything
DD coming round with any old gossip just to try and keep me amused.
DGD giving me a very gentle hug and kiss
The cats running into the bedroom and hiding (not allowed upstairs) then coming out when they know DH has safely gone back downstairs.
Auntie C bringing dinner and the most humongous triffle you have ever seen "to keep the boys strength up" :rotfl:

Sorry for the babble but I had two weeks worth to catch up on


I may have had two terrible weeks but as I sit and type I have had some very precious moments.
