Pic, oh poor you!! Hugs and more hugs but very gently so not squeezing too tightly. Well done on not smoking! :A

GFN, thanks. Have a lovely holiday! :):A

GQ, whilst your SuperGran story is funny in some ways as I'm sure the way she told it made it hilarious and she handled , ahem pardon the pun, the situation so well...I think it needs to be reported to the police. Maybe I'm over cautious, but from what I understand behaviour like that escalates. And him being 30 ish, well, not good at all. He needs to be on the police radar. Maybe she should answer the door next time with a huge pair of garden shears...;)

EstherH, if you need any help with fleabay, just PM me. As for Ama$on, it does vary, so many people sell for silly money and then with fees you can end up out of pocket.
  • Afternoon all! :hello:

PIC (((hug))) poor you that sounds seriously painful. Glad you are on the mend, I know how boring convalescence can be - take care of yourself. And go you - nearly a month of no smoking! That's such an achievement, keep it up!

    GFN have a great trip

Huge (((hug))) to everyone who needs and wants one. Sorry if I haven't given anyone a personal hug - drug-fuddled memory again. I seriously thought I'd be over that stage by now. I've been on them a few weeks now!

Well, huge AF order arrived today, OH is impressed with some of the bargains and has suggested further stocking up! This from the man who normally accuses me of extreme hoarding/control freakery/OCD every time I bulk buy. His attitude does at last seem to be changing. We are going to try the noodles and the bread/pizza/cake mixes over the next few days and if they are good order a load more. My latest re-arrange has left me with an entire built-in wardrobe in which to store my 'shop' but it's half-full again already :o

At the moment w**k is very quiet so I am researching further bulk-buying opportunities. At the beginning of the week some of my colleagues laughed at me; just a few days on and some of them are already asking if I would be willing to sell on to them in smaller quantities. So I guess OH is not the only one to finally catch on. I've told them that I'm more than happy to do this, although if we're going to have a little co-op instinct tells me it needs to stay small and very organised!
  • Just a quick post as I keep getting bogged down with other things and have only skimmed last couple of pages so hugs to anyone who needs them especially PIC, hope your back keeps improving. Have suffered in the past with back and knee problems and really hope I don't ever have it again so you have my sympathy. GQ, hope you don't have any interesting encounters like Supergran!

Baby had his first settling in session at nursery yesterday and was good as gold apparently. I was a bit miffed to think he didn't miss me or hubby! Going again next week for a bit longer next time.

Hubby did a load of washing yesterday but didn't put it out on the line. He told me 'you enjoy doing it - it's your hobby'. I didn't know whether to laugh or wallop him over the head with a frying pan! It's true though, I DO enjoy putting the washing out on the rare occasions it's dry and sunny round here.
    Have a good afternoon everyone.
  • Sat here waiting for doctors appointment so I thought I would fill you all in on this afternoons excitement.

Next door had a day off and came for coffee, great!!! someone to talk to as I have been laid up for 2 weeks. Had a good ole gossip and then hobbled to the kitchen to make a hot choc.

Hobbled to the sofa feeling pleased with my expedition, sat down and dropped the whole blinkin cup on myself :eek: I had to whip my trousers and pants off, while having back spasms infront of my poor neighbour. I then had to lay on the bed with a cold, wet towel (on private bits ) and wait for the red burning to go away :rotfl: To top it off I had to shout down stairs and say I thought it was best if she went home as I will be a while :o:o

I have had to put the most oldest, cleaning trackie bottoms on as I am due to go to the docs........... will he think I am a brazen hussey going with no pants on ????

Some weeks are just hard work ain't they???

Thelma, I have a friend who just loves hanging washing out especially on a windy day. I love the smell of freshly dried clothes.

PIC, poor you! Hope the scald is somewhat better. Ouch!

My DD is getting OS. All my[STRIKE] nagging[/STRIKE] talk of not putting the heating on but wear an extra jumper or extra clothing has worked. She called me to say the dog was shivering, but instead of putting the heating on DD covered her in a blanket and said she looks so cute. :D

PIC: So Sorry You're Having Such An Awful Time. Hope the burning has calmed down somewhat now, and that you're back will soon be better and you can get some decent sleep.

BYATT: Thank you. funnily enough I have just seen my dd and she said that her friend had suggested she eBay some of her stuff so I was telling her that I wanted to try ebaying a few things and we are going to have a look together. But thanks for the offer and if we have problems I know I can take you up on it.

BIG THELMA: Glad your little one settled well. It is ironic isn't it, if he had cried and not settled you would have felt awful but because he didn't your miffed. Been there, got the tee shirt lol.

GAILEY: If you're reading, hope your dd had a good birthday and all goes well at her party tomorrow.

    Love to all.

I've got some fish pie mix in the freezer that I bought too long ago! And I picked up some reduced white sauce and bunged it in the freezer too. Trouble is, hubby doesn't like fish pie, hence why I haven't made it. I think I'll have to make it and he can have something else!

Lasagne doesn't have to be made with only mince. You can bulk it out with lentils, (my prefered choice over oats as they're full of protein) and grated or blended veg like carrots, courgettes etc.

I agree ... however tinned tuna and veg layers makes a really good lasagne too! Especially if you buy all the 'branded' stuff.
  • I am reading through this entire thread and not quite finished. It's a little disheartening in some ways and makes me so worried about the future. I too was a 'worried' child. I knew that money was always tight when I was growing up (5 children) and was too afraid to ask my Mother for anything. I always felt sad that there was not enough to go round although in retrospect, my parents did the best they could and I had a wonderful childhood. Having said that I always (from the age of 11) had some kind of job .. I even went to jumble sales and bought stuff to sell to the antique shops believe it or not! Anyway I have to say that I would hate my daughter to know that I struggle to make ends meet. I don't want her to be like I was; I try to give her all that I can even though she has developed the (obvious) teenage taste for 'designer' clothes etc. Thank goodness for ebay although she doesn't know that I buy from there. Am I right I wonder? I just have this vision of the distressed little girl I was and I truly want to spare her that. She is aware of limitations .... but not quite how much.
  • Oh yes and I agree, I can freeze to death but I never want my child to be cold.
