  • Mammogram was its usually fun, well hopefully that is it for another 3 years.....at least no waiting gave my name, sat down and was called in straight away, results in two weeks, quickest medical appointment I have ever had, as never been for the screening on before as had a lump just before first one ( benign, although a needle biopsy is not exactly fun was lucky I did not need anything more, and had to attend the cancer clinic for that and subsequent check ups. We have the fast track here - you go to doctor with lump and you are seen within 48hrs by the breast cancer clinic, although mum having had it most likely bumps me up the list.

If anyone on the list is over 70 and not bothered asking for a mammogram please do, my mum once the screening stopped didn't bother asking until she was 78 when she found her nipple had reversed, dr checked her and could not find any lumps but sent her for a mammogram found 5 all cancerous, but thankfully slow growing as it took 6 weeks from her going to doctor to getting it and another 4 weeks for them to actually look at them and then it was panic stations. she was lucky only had to have just breast removed but not lymph glands nor have any other treatment, but if nipple hadn't changed she would never have known and it doesn't always. As no history of breast cancer in our family they assumed nothing would be found with mum, so mums specialist wrote to mine and my sisters doctors to tell them so we are always fast tracked for anything to do with breast and lumps. I guess they were scared mum could have sued, but with it being slow growing thankfully delay did no harm.

Hi, haven't posted for ages but been lurking. Following the low carb discussion with interest. Apparently a study showed that children with ADSD who ate nuts and meat for breakfast did much better at school throughout the day than those who ate cereal or toast. Don't have anything to quote, just been told this.

Also, I thought I was strange because I could go without breakfast but if I did have it, (which would be cereal or toast) I was starving mid morning. Porridge has the same effect. So when all you other ladies said that cereal made you hungry too, it made me really think about this in relation to carbs.

Someone asked about Fuddle a few days ago I think - funnily enough given the thread direction today, she's been on the losing weight thread. I've signed up to a website that allows me to count calories and have lost 8lbs to date. My biggest dietary change has been to completely cut out alcohol - not as a new year resolution but as something I've been contemplating for a long time as I knew I drank more than was good for me. I am therefore finding that my alloted calorie limit is actually plenty and am having food of all types - the only other thing I avoid is sandwiches at lunchtime as when I was working I found they made me dreadfully sleepy in the afternoon.

Very good news about Bruno and will be keeping fingers crossed for GFN for Friday.

Driving tests - my father and two brothers all passed on the second attempt - much to our joy my mother, sister and I passed first time :D No mention of "women drivers" in our family.

Byatt - so glad the fire didn't affect your house. I love candles but am really careful when I use them - especially now I have Pup who has the longest waggiest tail I've ever seen.

Minus 6 a bit earlier this evening here but will be down to a balmy 0 degrees overnight. Wrap up warm toughies.

    Hi Esther

I think that LC diet is now also recommended for children and adults with epilepsy, as it reduces the number of seizures.

And I used to not eat breakfast because I found if I did I was hungry mid morning, if I went without I was fine until lunchtime!

Hi Mrs Chip, it's all very thought provoking. I think I might try an omelet or something for breakfast tomorrow and see what difference it makes. Esther x
