No sultanas and suet :eek::eek:
Shocking they should be reported
DS1 is fine about failing bless him he's always struggled when not instructed to the letter (he's on the spectrum but aspie end) so he was doing fine until the examiner failed to instruct him which way to turn in a road he'd never been down before..he had a no entry sign ahead or a right turn and was waiting for the examiner to tell him to turn right..of course he never did so DS nearly went the wrong way up a one way street!! :oho hum
He'll be fine next time0 -
Is there a rush on value sultanas and ato$a suet?
Went shopping for same and shelves were cleared! Isn't it odd that certain items are cleared in SM's; seems to be items I want.
Fuuny you should say that Byatt - there was no suet of any sort in Mo**isons when I went in yesterday. Didn't see sultanas there either........:( Got a MS on Thursday at T**co so I'll have a look there then.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Perhaps people are making suet and sultana fatcakes for the birds now that the weather has turned cold?
Three times this morning I had to go out into my yard to shoo the bl**dy cats away. They'd better not get my wee birds. I've had to stop scattering mealworms on the ground because of the cats. I am going to fill a squirty bottle with water and woe betide any cat I get within squirting distance of! Sorry to those who are cat lovers - I do like cats and wouldn't wish them any harm, but these are well-fed cats with collars who don't need to hunt for food, and my wee birds are defenceless wee critters trying to survive! And my rare bird (one of only an estimated 500 in the whole of the UK and who shouldn't even be here at all!) - it would be terrible if he was mauled by a cat. I also have house sparrows, another species on the red list. I am going to e-mail the County Recorder and ask him if I should stop feeding the birds because of the cats - I don't want the birds to be in danger just because I like to feed them.
600 calories per day? I think my wee dog has more than that!! I would be so grumpy - I get very irritable and tired if I don't eat enough on a very regular basis (ie every few hours!!) so on only 600 calories a day I'd probably end up being arrested :rotfl:.
Time for another cup of tea. I don't usually drink tea so late on but I'm cold. I've eaten something garlicky so if I have something sweet afterwards (like hot chocolate) it makes me feel ever so sick. So tea it is.
PS Bruno sends big wags to all his well-wishers. He can't wait to get rid of the buster collar and be allowed off the lead to chase squirrels again ....Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Suet disappeared from the shops for a while at about this time of year a couple of years ago-I remember posting a query about it on this board. It did reappear eventually and since then I've tried to keep a packet in reserve.0 -
I bought a couple of packets on Saturday in Mr s, they had plenty and for a change they were something that had not gone up in price. Didn't look at sultanas as I have plenty in.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Hi to Thelma & any other newbies I have missed along the way.
Ginny - bless you, not having a very good time of it are you? Bit of a cliche but I do hope you have time to look after yourself too.I use about half a cap of shampoo per wash and it's got everything really clean, smells nice, and no lather or build up problems. It's got things really clean, it's even got a few 'permanent' stains out of things! I'm surprised how much the cost of value shampoos varies between the supermarkets but it works out at less than 2p per load wherever you buy it. Just thought someone might find this useful!
I might give this a try - I've not been so OS as to try making my own gloop, but I try & use the 1/3 posh 1/3 value 1/3 soda crystals mix for laundry. Been having problems getting soda crystals recently, so shampoo would be cheaper & may be better for DD skin too. I'm ashamed to say I'd never have thought of this myself
All this debate about LC diets has got me thinking about what fills me up best for breakfast. I love toast, but I'm always hungry again within a few hours, yet when I had a cooked "breakfast" at 10.30 for break at work, this would keep me going for hours & hours. If I can just get organised enough to cook that early :rotfl:I may feel a bit better & lose some weight.
I have a lovely cupcake book (made choc muffins today - yum) but it doesn't have any nutritional info included. A few of the "healthy" muffins don't contain any butter/marg but do have up to 5 tbsps oil for 12 muffins, This seems a lot of oil to me but what do those more au fait with nutrition think?
Not recommending any particular diet for anyone but will just pass on what has happened to a friend. She was diagnosed with type 1 DM in her 30's (rare & no idea what finally pushed her over the edge) & is obviously now on insulin. She has become very focused on her diabetes & has been helping control her blood sugars using diet as much as she can. Following a LC diet her sugars have been far more stable & she is using a lot less insulin too. She is being monitored by her GP & a diabeteic nurse closely. She didn't really need to lose much weight, but has lost almost a stone & a half in a few months without trying to to - it has just been a "side effect" of her LC diet. Best of all is she says she just feels so much better & has fewer "wobbly" times.
I'd be evil if I had to manage on 600cal/day.
Byatt - thank goodness all is OK now. Scary.
Mrs Chip - I have butter envy :rotfl:but I will find reduced DC somwhere
PAH - you are doing really well with the NS! :T Hope the mammogram wasn't too painful (although I have had one myself, so I know what it is like).
Not seen Fuddle for a while - have I missed her posts? And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -

Smiley I'm a cat lover & have no problem at all with you squirting water at them. I no longer feed the birds in my garden (my next door neighbour does) 'cos our rescue cat just loves to watch those nice little fluffy things & I don't want her tempted. I do still have a pair of wrens though that live by my compost heap but they're so shy & quick I dont think puss knows they;re there :rotfl:Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Hi hope you don't mind me saying but tell him to ask. I failed my test 2 before passing and the 3rd time I passed I kept asking him where do you want me to go I think they are awfull and u never feel like you know what way they want you to go till the last second.
There is a big roundabout on the text route I went on you have to be in the right lane early on to make it more easy so I asked as soon as we got onto it and it kept me calm.
Also Rescue remady I drank half a bottle before my test I think it's good stuff.
I hate hate hate the tests I have been driving 7 months now and I still lose sleep and feel sick when the post man comes just in caseFebruary GC £261.97/24 NSDS 10/12

It's probably just as well the suet wasn't there, for me. Both I and another woman was (or is it were?) scanning the shelves, and we noticed the vegetable suet was dearer than "beef" suet. As for the sultanas, it was weird...they were the value ones though so maybe for the birds. It struck me as odd.
Silva, maybe there's a SM conspiracy. I might check my local Mr T's tomorrow, as I too have the joy of going for a mammogram! What fun. Still, can't complain. My friend in America tells me horror stories of the cost of medical care; they have insurance (job reliant) but still have co-pays which can run into thousands of dollars. Just going to the ER costs them $1000+ She says she can't afford to be ill.
My birds are really fussy, they haven't touched the seed I put out for them. We "only" get sparrows.
Smiley, only having 600 cals does make you very, very irritable.
D&D, that reminds me so much of my DD. Very literal.
Ginny, so sorry to hear of your fall. I hope you are looking after you too, and take it easy. It's such a shock too. xxx
B&T, I have loads of pyrex from the recycling centre. Soooooo cheap. I had to stop going for a while because I kept getting more. Have some really nice pieces.
PAH, well done on the not smoking.
Welcome to the newbies, and hugs to all. Even if you don't need them.
Just had a thought, if the fire brigade had to come into my house they would have said, "poor woman; not only has there been a fire, but she was burgalled (is that a word?) beforehand and left her house a mess!"0 -
And my rare bird (one of only an estimated 500 in the whole of the UK and who shouldn't even be here at all!) - it would be terrible if he was mauled by a cat.
....
Oooh are you allowed to tell what it is? I'd be so excited :j
Seeing the birds in our garden makes me really happy, especially when I spot a rare one! I was ridiculously overexcited when we saw the red kites over the house when the farmer cut the field behind.
I had to stop feeding the birds for a bit because of the rats...I refuse to use poison because of the wild birds/food chain but the naughty things have moved to the bird table half a mile away, so I've been able to sneak some food out this last two weeks.
