Kidcat have read somewhere on MSE that if you squash a toilet roll it doesn't come of the holder so easily IYSWIM

Thanks bigjenny - he squashes the roll himself already - so it cant roll too far he says!! :)

As ETA of toilet roll is end Feb am not gonna mention it to OH just yet! Will run our existing supplies down then he probably wont even notice it arriving (assuming he is at work!). Mistimed the approved food order this time, its his first day off tomorrow and of course the delivery is coming so am envisaging a heated debate!:)

Already in debate over kids birthdays - I have found really low cost laptops for DD5 and Ds7 and whilst ordinarily it would never occur to buy kids that age a laptop, it has been recommended for Ds to encourage his learning, and there are several programs school think he will benefit from using at home. DDs school has announced a plan to go paperless by end of year and set all homework online and reading too!!
To me it seems that both need it and will benefit from it rather than buying toys that neither particularly want or need. Cost wise my parents have offered to go halves making it extraordinarily cheap, however OH has declared he doesnt think that kids these days should have these things end of!

Really pleased with myself, have kept heating off whilst kids were at school and then managed to nip into Ald! and only buy the six items I needed!

Hello all! Thank you for your good wishes.

Bruno is home, with a blue bandage around his leg, stitches in his tummy and some on his back. The vet removed three lumps and two of them have gone off to a lab for analysis (the third was a large fatty lump), so I won't know the results until next Tuesday or Wednesday. Poor Bruno, he wouldn't settle when he got home and kept following me around; I think he was scared I might suddenly disappear and leave him again. In the end I had to get a magazine and sit down just so that he would settle, bless him. He's now curled up fast asleep. He doesn't know yet that he will have to wear a buster collar overnight and tomorrow when I go to work :( poor lad. His blood tests came back normal, though, which is good as it means he doesn't have any kidney or liver problems. It's just a waiting game now for the lab results. But I am very, very glad to have him home. We are having an early night tonight because I feel absolutely shattered.

Kidcat, I really don't know how you manage with your kids and your OH! You have my utmost admiration. I thought the high loo roll usage in your house might have something to do with your son.

Bitterandtwisted oh your theory about blokes and loo roll - absolutely spot on! My loo isn't the best at flushing and often when my lodger has been occupying the smallest room and I need to use it I notice great wodges of bog roll in the loo. I tried squashing the loo roll and he just got a fresh one out ! Sigh. I haven't said anything yet because I'm still working on the basics of switching the lights off, not leaving the taps running (how grateful am I that I'm not on a water meter!) etc.

Speaking of the smallest room .... I'm going to attempt to get up there without waking Bruno, as he will want to follow me to make sure I'm not going to escape out of the window .......

I recently went through this with my Poppy and a lump on her face (which was benign after the biopsy). She was so very sorry for herself and wandered around all night. I ended up sleeping downstairs with her and following her around. I sat in the garden on a cold November night, as she plodded around and around. I looked up at the stars and could have launched her into outer space at that moment. Then I thought "oh bless her - it's not her fault" and shepherded her into the warmth of the house (we had to keep the heating on as she was shivering). After 24 hours she was much better and had the anaesthetic out of her system. I hope your doggie makes a very good recovery asap x

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Men wrap TP round and round their hands several times for each use. They have to get at least ten layers of paper between their hands and the Other Dirty Place. Chuck it and then wind again.

This is spot on. After my ex blocked the toilet for the third time it was clear that I wasn't getting anywhere on the use less thing. So I got him to flush half way through the operation to give the loo a chance!

Mardatha - down here -6 IS extreme :D - being from oop north myself I think it's a bit of a laugh the way some people react when we actually have a winter :rotfl:

kidcat - Gobsmacked that your young daughter's school want to go online re homework etc - surely there are a lot of families who can't afford to buy a youngster a laptop at such an early age? And how long is a laptop going to last if given to small children? Sigh! I know, I'm old :rotfl:

Well it tried to snow today but no dice, just very cold. Ski socks, leggings, vest - tucked in - amongst other layers were required for dogwalking. Had to strip the layers off when I went for my hospital appointment or I would have passed out from the heat!

Hope Bruno came through OK - no fingers-crossed-smiley for me to use!

ETA - I see you posted re Bruno whilst I was typing - phew, that's a relief :)

Sorry I missed the Toilet Roll Offer. I was just checking a few other things on same site and noticed Le#or looked a good offer, but checked with Mr#S and it's pretty much the same price for some of the variations.

Not much to report today, bunny back on form and doggy has had her meds upped.

Made some HM Soda Bread, Cooked a Gammon Hock for DHs sandwiches. Made some Lamb, Potato and Leek Soup and had reduced price wild salmon for dinner (frozen not tinned) it was fab. Also had a bash at some HM veggie crisps using sweet potato....they sort of worked out ok [STRIKE]bit burnt[/STRIKE], I need to improve my technique:rotfl:

....and finally a lovely long phone chat with DS2 (31) who lives 60 miles away.

Just planning to chill tonight. Have great evening everyone and huge (((hugs))) for anyone who wants or needs one.

PS smileyt Good news about Bruno

    Evening All!

Smiley - so glad Bruno is home and has a lovely mum to look after him!

Loo Rolls - In a previous existence I looked after a very big building. I cannot count the number of times we had to get the drainage peeps in to clear blockages in the main stack because idiot users had stuffed so much tissue down the lav that it totally blocked. Mostly men it has to be said, but the ladies did their fair share of damage too. TBH tissue blockages were the least of our problems, but it's too near tea time to go into detail...:rotfl:

It was a lovely day here today, but very cold. No gardening, I had indoor stuff to do, so hope the weather holds for a bit so that I can get cracking with some more clearing.

Rug update - it's back down and no sign yet of the stain!

(((Hugs))) for those needing them, keep warm everyone!
