Morning peeps
It's ghastly & grey & freezing at the mo.OK, that's enough drivel. The weather outside looks ghastly at the moment; dawn over a heavy grey overcast, the sort of sky which is reserving it's rights to drop any darned form of frozen precipitation on you that it likes. I thank my lucky stars that I live and work only a few minutes' walk apart. Mebbe I shall start carrying my Yaktrax in my work bag again in case it turns v.nasty whilst in the office; there are some short steep pavements which turn into ice-chutes in the city centre and my neighbours have broken limbs last winter falling on ice around the Towers.
 Dur, I totally forgot I bought some Yaktrax in Dec! Thanks for the timely reminder. I'm working in our furthest office today, about 15 miles from home. It isn't meant to snow here but it sure as heck looks like it may. I'm shoving some sensible supplies in the car and shall pack the Yaktrax in me handbag!Pitlanepiglet wrote: »Oh dear, I think I'm the exception to the rule. OH is the one who's up at the crack of dawn (6am!) each day and I'm the one who waits till the last moment and does everything at warped speed before leaving for work! We're lucky that we're fairly well on the same time clock though so by 9.30pm we're both starting to nod - 10pm is a late night in our house!PLP, I'm with you LOL ! I hate loathe and detest mornings!! Inventions of satan. My OH is up at the back of 6 banging & crashing around in the kitchen and that's when I turn over and get the best sleep of the whole night. I worked nights all my life because I hate mornings so much
Me three! I have never been and am resolutely NOT a morning person. My OH is also up around 6ish, and like you Mardatha, I then go back into a blissful sleep until he gets me up at 8 with a coffee. Apparently then I grouch and scowl but am persuaded from my pit by the warm caffeine and his happy face. He is never grumpy and always wakes up cheerful and calm, which makes a huge difference to my mornings and eases the pain of leaving bed.
Well, we were up late last night doing a massive sort-n-scrub of the flat, getting the spare room ready as my friend plus cat move in tomorrow for 2 weeks. He is a telly addict and already panicking that we have no such device :rotfl:OH has been winding him up saying that in the evenings we do puzzles and knit, he's horrified and it's hilarious :rotfl:I'd be quite happy doing that, mostly we cook together, share wine if we have any and sit and chat. I don't object to watching TV but find that having it on all evening (like friend does) means you end up drawn to it and I'd miss our conversations and the time we make for each other.
This week is dragging. I woke up from a dream in the middle of the night, convinced it was ThursI'm really resenting needing the heating on so much. I like to be warm but central heating ends up making it feel very dry and stuffy, so you can't win plus it just adds to the bills.
Thoughts and hugs to those with ongoing issues, poorly pets, family and the works. I'm willing myself to get dressed as I really should be heading in. Maybe just one more coffee......Proud to be a moneysaver0 -
SMILEY- thinking of you and hoping all will be well with Bruno today. Let us know how he is later if you can. SILVASAVER - We have a paper log maker, one that makes the brick shaped logs not a round one. We save the daily paper all through the winter and store it cut into 6" squares until the warmer weather comes when we make papier mache in vast quantities and early on, put them in the sun in the greenhouse to dry. It takes a week to ten days - but later on in the summer we dry they outside and bring them in at night in case of rain. I think we made 250ish last year, they make the best fire starters we have ever found and best of all they're free. Lyn.0

Thank you for your good wishes for Bruno everyone. My friend came and picked us up earlier and he is now in the vet's. Poor love, he shook and trembled all the way there and was still trembling when I left him
. I have to admit to shedding a tear once I was outside. The good news so far is that he has gained 0.2kg over the weekend so at least he hasn't lost any more weight. It's his 14th birthday tomorrow and if he comes through the operation (hopefully he should, as he's very fit for his age) we will celebrate later in the week with a massive treat of some kind. Maybe a meat pie, I'm sure he'd love that!
So I came home, put some food out for the birds, and tried to hoover up to keep myself occupied. The bloomin' hoover only started to smell of burning, didn't it? It didn't feel to have overheated but I have left it to cool off and will investigate later. It has done 11 years of hard labour in the gulag that is a two-dog, gardening household so I can't complain really if it has gone belly-up.
Right, I have some work to do online so I shall gee myself up. I'll pop in later with a Bruno update. Hope everyone's day goes swimmingly! xxAspire not to have more but to be more.

GQ no room in the larder or under the bed:o:rotfl:or the cupboard of doom! I think I may have to just start a tin box for the bedroom..I bought a load as Tuna has gone up ridiculously and the sudden drop in price on the sardines (12p a can in my store) set alarm bells ringing..they usually do this before a pricehike.
The prices are getting stupid going up and down I was in store last week and the sultanas had gone up to £1.03 this week online at my store they are 83p again..not that I need any for about 2 years but it does annoy me.
Catbells :rotfl:sorry couldn't help laughing mine does the same to me!Hope you aren't too sore
Kidcat its a hard thing even when you know its coming it seems so..final doesn't it? Here's hoping it will be a positive thing and you will be able to access the support he and the family need now if you need any help just shout as there's loads of us here who have been through it XX0 -

SmileyT I hope everything is okay. Mittens the cat sends his love to Bruno too (((hug)))
I'm moving stuff around for the window man to come tomorrow. The thing is that we have a tiny house, so furniture will need moving but I'm not sure where else we can put it yet! (And it includes the computer desk, so if I go quiet, you know what's happened). Feeling bleurgh today as well. Still, mustn't grumble.
Got to finalise my online shop as well. Usually use Sainsbugs but as Arsda are showing up as over a tenner cheaper on a sixty six quid shop I really should think about it, even though I swore I would never shop there. Gonna figure out what is so much cheaper and hopefully it'll be on brand match. Trouble is, it's hard to get brand match when you barely buy any brands!0 -
.
Well its official, I have a piece of paper that says my DS is autistic. I cried - even though I knew it and had fought for it, reading something cold and brutal was hard. It does mean that his school placement will be assessed and changes made to ensure the provision is suitable. The specialist there agreed that our current concerns are appropriate and that she will instigate the changes necessary.
At least now your DS will get the help he deserves and so will you. With the right teachers and support you will notice a difference.Debt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

omg - am gonna be in so much trouble when OH gets home, I currently have 56 rolls of toilet paper in cupboard and OH is moaning about the space they take up - but as we use 20 rolls a week its just means we have a few weeks in. Amazon are doing a deal at moment to buy 45 rolls of and**x for £10 which works out cheaper than my normal shop - so have ordered two lots.:o:o:o
Smiley - hope doggy is ok.
Thanks for all the thoughts yesterday- it means alot.0 -

Thanks for this Kidcat,I just got this because of you. My OH will be thrilled though, because he loves the puppy brand. I bought Nicky from the pound shop at the weekend and he didn't moan too much, but this works out cheaper! So I guess it's his reward.
Thankfully we don't get through it quite as quick as you, although it does mean I need to find a new stashing place. OH accuses me of hoarding as it is! And I don't have an awful lot of space. If I can't think of anywhere else I might hide it up in the loft and get it down a pack at a time :rotfl:0 -

Wedding receptions, funerals and christenings (hatches, matches and dispatches as my grandad called them) were the only times we ever had a meal outwith the home. I can remember only going to the pictures twice when I was young and my kids are there every other week with their friends. Times certainly do change XDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁
