Just to add I do hope he gets somewhere with his claim, and the C.A.B are very good too at helping people, even if it is just advice needed. You are very kind too and it was nice to read about.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

So sorry to hear of you loss Winchelsea. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Kidcat, will also be thinking of you today.
Softstuff, nice to see you posting again, but sorry to hear you've not been feeling so good. I made your Christmas cookies again last week for a friend's birthday (not in the shape of Christmas trees this time though!) and she loved them. Think I might do some heart-shaped Valentine ones.
Saw the former colleagues on Friday and they might have a bit more work for me in a couple of weeks time, so fingers crossed for that. Meanwhile I've listed a few bits on Ebay to try and make a few £££ to tide us over. Two bids and 5 watchers at the moment0 -
Stillstruggling I can assure you normalilty will return after he's done his work experience week and we'll be back to searching crumpled piles of shirts looking for odd socks as they go out the door as usual !
I was only up at 6 so wasn't too bad this a.m but DS3 had me awake til half 3 so the caffeines helping :rotfl:
re the thermals/layers I got some lovely Campri ones cheap but can't remember where and gave them and my M&S thermal vest a testdrive this morning..along with thermal socks, welly warmers, gloves, hat and thermal lined coat..I could just about move but was lovely and toastie!
Did toy with the idea of borrowing the youngests balaclava but thought I might scare someoneGod help me if it gets actually cold here
Smiley what a wonderful thing you do opening your home to someone in need good on you sweetie XX (hows doglet?)

A good "cook" can prepare a hearty meal on nothing more than one hotplate if need be
I totally agree with you I consider myself a "proper cook " cooking from scratch, baking etc as often as I can and my kitchen is like a shoe box only six feet x nine feet but I manage. My gran was the most wonderful cook and she didn' need any of the modern implements that we all take for granted. I wish I had a huge kitchen with a table etc but that's a dream for the future.
It's freezing cold here today again frost everywhere poor dog hates going out when it's like this so I don't think I will be venturing very far today. Day off work today and tomorrow so going to change beds, scrub bathroom ceiling (doesn't matter what I do the black mould comes back within a few weeks:mad:), bake a banana loaf with the black bananas in the fridge coz nobody will eat them when they start to go like that, make a big pot of veg soup freeze half for during the week, wash the floors and then have a nice cup of tea:) Hope you all have a good dayDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

Thermal vests are cheap at Sports direct this week, dad arrived with more for DS13 yesterday, as they were so cheap he has bought next size up too!!
Judi - welcome
Katieowl - set the clocks forward by ten minutes! that way he will have ten extra minutes to get ready - works here. OH is surely ASd too and is terrible at time keeping/management, I have all the clocks in house set between five and ten minutes fast and car ones too. It has definitely improved his timing getting up etc - helps DS13 too. Although both now know the clocks are fast - they are both too lazy to work out correct time, besides the fact that the effort helps wake them. They both also know that I adjust the timings so are never exactly sure just how far I have gone - managed an hour one year when we were going on holiday!!0 -
I had to moan at DS again this morning to make him get up, even though it was OH's 'day' to deal with him, as OH just doesn't get on his case enough to get him out of bed! It's infuriating that we have to do this at his age, but I refuse point blank to ever give him the ammo to say that the fact that he never amounted to anything was lack of effort on my part. But it really is doing my head in!
Kate
I know what you mean. My DS2 is 19 and left school a year and a half ago He hasn't had a job in that time and although he is looking (however halfheartedly now) he isn't getting anywhere. DH and I both work and somedays I know he's in his bed til one or two in the afternoon. Everytime my mum phones she asks if he's got a job yet and how can I let him off with staying in bed and not working. LET HIM OFF !!! who is she kidding it's a running battle  My DS1 is the opposite (he's in the army) and I find it hard to deal with my DH always comparing them. DS2 has just applied to college so hopefully he will get in and give himself some motivation and me some peace and quiet. Sorry to moananyway back to stripping the beds x

I think they have ended up a little fast anyway...I noticed that a couple of months ago. I never changed it, and I'm sure that's why he's never actually missed the bus - that and my new driving skills! I definately shan't change them now you've pointed it out...I just need to remember to leave for work a lot later, as I'm always really early!

Yes I know that scenario too...DS dropped out of school and spent 9 months on the dole, before college. He was looking for work, but TBH there is hardly any work available here, and now he's at college he needs to find a work placement, and it looks as though his dad (OH) is going to have to take him on. He's in the same trade, but I can't see it working out myself  OH was so on DS's case for dropping out of school, but TBH I could see where DS was coming from! Think his dad should have credited him with a touch more wisdom.

I know what you mean katieowl it's not always a good idea to work with family but you never know it might work out just fine. My DD2 stayed on at school did a sixth year and all that palaver but tbh I think he was just too scared to leave with everyone telling him "theres no jobs , you'll be lucky to get anything" I have to have faith it will all work out in the end or i will go mad. (I might already be halfway there !!)Debt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

Morning all, its cold but bright here today which is much more cheery than cold and wet!!
Today is the big day, we have waited so long but am really nervous. DS7 will officially receive his diagnosis of autism today. And whilst I have been pushing to get it for the sake of his education I have a feeling when its all official I will probably cry. Full of nerves and cant settle to anything.
Thankfully my friend has just called to say she will call in for coffee so have had a kick to tidy around and throw hoover over kitchen
Weather forecasts here are showing a really cold spell I believe so am really glad to have got prepared - although had to de-ice the new car inside and out this morning - it was valeted on Saturday by dealer so is still drying!!
Sending huge hugs to all - remember - this too will pass!!! Have a great day;)
Thinking of you kidcat (((hugs)))
I have just heard that this week could be the coldest of winter so far and that February is set to be a very cold month:eek:
Wrap up warm everyone, I for one will be turning to the hot choc at bedtime.
Didn't get the best start to the day today. Our poor dog has been incontinent at night for nearly 5 years, she wears doggy nappies at night. She has been on loads of diferent meds and had a big op. at the end of 2010 which I think very nearly finished her. Last night we forgot her nappy and she had made a huge puddle in her bed. So that all had to be washed including the blanket on top and the floor washed etc. It's so hard to get things dry like this, especially in this weather, I really don't like putting them through the washing machine & dryer. So hopefully they will dry enough outside to then put infront of the heater. Poor dog, I feel so sad for her, she hates not being clean and always looks so miserable when this happens. I would never have her PTS because of this though.
We also have a house rabbit and today he has decided not to eat, I am watching him very carefully and he seems relaxed enough in the kitchen, but we lost one rabbit 6 months ago and I can't bear the thought of losing this little darling. He will be at the vets later today if he doesn't pick up.
I need to motivate myself now to cook something for dinner and make some bread but I am quite enjoying sitting here and drinking nettle tea:) and reading your posts
Have a great day everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
