Hi Catbells, yes, these panic moments come along and it is hard, but hopefully it may mean a new start also. I keep having new starts and I have decided to try and roll with them.; not easy I know. But keep posting and maybe we can all come up with some ideas and also give you lots of support.
:T
Thanks Byatt and everyone for encouragement.
I'm thinking of teaching from home small groups or individuals a few hours a week. (thats what I did before). Its scary as you get older but like a lot of folks of a certain age will say - you dont feel your age. I can remember hearing others saying that when I was young and now its my turn.!!! I love writing too and have a novel in the making+poetry and plays in the house somewhere. It could as you say be a new start and I have to be
C O N F I D E N T and just do it.
I do grow some of my own produce so could work a bit more on that although my small freezer is already full of beans, rhubarb and apples.
My kids suggested I get some Olympic lodgers in for next year but I dont live too close to the arena but maybe it doesn't matter. I could do cut price offers. Better get some sleep. Head is spinning with thinking. Be back here again soon.0 -
Catbells- I would have had a panic too, Big hugs, It's never too late to take on a new start. My aunt is 74 and invigilates for school exams. ( sorry about spelling!) She is still paying her mortgage off.
Bitterandtwisted- good for you, the satisfaction of producing that first loaf will far out-weigh the £15 you spent! Endless possibilities of flours and seed combinations ahead!:)
Crazy in A*sda yesterday. Tuna- 4 tins for £3.....50p for individual tins! A*sda mandarin oranges 39p a tin, Jo*n w*st 27p! They must think shoppers are daft and wont notice these things!
And yes Peanut Butter 92p!!!
Does any one know how much it is in Aldi/Lidl. I have to justify petrol spend to myself when I go further afield. :think:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
SNOWWWWWWWINGGGG! started at 6am still heavy ! WHOOOHOOO! (but only because I dont have to brave the roads and go to work in it)0

PIC well done on giving up smoking and Byatt another one here that could do with a chocolate patch.
Mardy wotnot enjoy your snow but keep it to yourself :rotfl:0 -
Mardatha - am sooo jealous, its been ages since we had a nice bash of snow and I find its quite cheering somehow!
Esther - it was all over news on radio last week about black monday, no idea how they can tell of course:)
B&T - well done, our BM doesnt get the use it should, something to do with me and it not being perfectly sychronised!! BUt when it does get used its so worth it!
Am feeling really down at moment, think its a combination of disappointment and exhaustion. DS is really playing up and OH is having a bad time at work, this translates to impatience and shouting if he is asked to do anything, so in order to keep calm and peace am avoiding asking him to do stuff, which translates to doing it all myself. Tried to get bath last night but gave up after running it twice and not getting it - DS was bouncing off the walls again!!
Planning on house blitz this morning followed by nap at lunch time - OH wont be happy but as kids arent here his moods cant upset anyone.
Friend has been looking into dog walking services as she now doesnt live near her friend who used to pop in and walk dog while she was at work - they are really expensive - so have volunteered DD17 to pop in at lunch time and give her a walk and a play for half an hour for pocket money. Friend made up - means she can keep dog and DD will be glad of extra cash0 -
Kidcat - blue monday was invented by the travel industry to get us to book our summer holidays... Ad according to the press it was last week0

*hobbles in wincing slightly*
Morning all.....Can I just say that seats on exercise bikes are designed by a sick male Sadist who gets Their kicks from watching people trying to get comfortable on them? I'm sore in places that I don't mention in polite company.
(Not that I have anything against all Sadists, some of my good Friends are Sadists)
well done paidinchickens
What a great buy BitterandTwisted Enjoy it. I daren't have a bread maker in the house as DH can eat a whole loaf before it has a chance to cool.
Welcome CatbellsI'm sure that the lovely ladies here will have tons of good advice
Smileyt and VJsmum I say go for it. I had to stop my Chemistry degree after the first year due to health reasons and long to try again. Lack of funds and having no idea what to study have put it off so far.
Yesterday I went and did the first part of a FAB weight management course. Thankfully my friend Emma came with me and it went well. Very nice people running it and it focused on finding the right balance with food and the right exercise that you enjoy. Some things surprised me, like sweet potatoes being classed as carbs, but butternut squash is a vegetable, and all beans and pulses being classed as protein and not counting towards your 5 a day. I wish that the advice would just stay the same. Next week is on portion sizes and I think I'm going to be in for a big shock.
Today I'm hoping to find the enthusiasm to go to Aquafit. Aquafit isn't really the problem, it's the walk to the leisure centre in the cold and rain. I want to hibenate today.
Time to go and get DH to call work to see if he needs to go out anywhere or to make him get up and do expenses. It's not going to be easy.0 -
That's the normal state of affairs with my RV kidcat, hence his nickname!
I'm another one whos feeling really down, and its just not like me. I blame lack of summer sun last year and this being the lowest point of the year.0 -

Isnt it funny how snow brings out the kid is us. Sounds lovely. None here yet.
Two of my friends have really rallied to me. So lovely. And my kids too. Some people I haven't told and its made me realise that maybe I;'m not as close to them as I thought. Revelations indeed. I also think I'm ashamed to admit that I cant manage financially without the blinking lodger income. Just watch I will do it somehow.
Bitterandtwisted - how much does making your own bread save you?0 -
