Hi, Its been awhile since I have been here.

I have been sick with the cough I have had for a few years, and I have been comfined to bed over a week now with a chest infection.
I need this infection to clear up as I have an appointment with a lung specialist on the 23th Feb, I have waited two years to see him and he will not see me if I still have it so I am being very good and resting.

But it is driving me crazy so many things that needs doing, thats not being done.

OH is cooking all meals and cleaning the place hes been great. Even better hes using whats in the cupboard, fridge and freezer. Hes only bought milk and oranges in the last week.

    Hope everyone is keeping well
Off to try a catch up with everyones news
    You lot cant half talk:)

Crikey, you've done a good job of training him haven't you :rotfl: Hope you soon feel better and can see the specialist.

Think my washing machine needs a repairman :( I've sort of noticed that the clothes felt cold when taking them out but didn't think too much about it, but checked it whilst washing today and the glass felt cool. I've just put on a half load of cotton whites on a 95 wash to check and the glass is still cool. So all the washing done recently has been in cold water.:( Now I've got to work out if getting it repaired will be more/less expensive than a new one - it works absolutely fine in every other respect.

I cant believe that anybody on the planet is thick enough to pay £395 for a bloody handbag! :rotfl::rotfl:

In the paper this weekend a columnist fell in love with, but had no intention of buying, a Hermes bag costing £4,380

Not sure if this is allowed, but I'm going to do it anyway! (Mods, please remove post if I am being naughty!).

There is a campaign at the moment to stop the Royal Bank of Scotland bosses getting huge bonuses. You can sign here if you want to:

VJsMum I'm glad your Dad is out of danger and I hope he makes a full recovery.
Kimsmum I hope your cough goes in time.

More free e-books downloaded :D, quite a few on sexuality and gender, which is an area of interest for me. Two lecturers recently have suggested I look at doing a PhD but I'm scared! I will look into it, though - I'd love to be DrSmileyt :rotfl::rotfl:But the first step is to do some reading and clarify my thoughts. Or even have some thoughts, for that matter :rotfl::rotfl:

Where is Greyqueen? Has she fallen into a vat of tea? Is she buried under a mountain of tinned tomatoes?

Byatt, what channel is Superscrimpers on, please? I don't have a telly but might try to catch it on one of the iplayer-type websites.

Off to do some knitting. Shawl is coming along slowly - should be ready for winter 2014 at this rate ...... :rotfl:

smileyt, it's Channel 4. Watching it right now...

I will sign petition before it disappears! Which reminds me, I need to send a sarcastic letter to my bank, as the bonuses someone is getting I believe I am personally paying for!

lizzy - if its just not heating it sounds like the thermostat, its possibly easy to do yourself and from memory I dont think thermostats are that expensive either. Worth a google I would have thought. :)

Thanks kidcat - I'll definitely have a look into that if needs be, I'm not afraid of opening stuff up to replace basic stuff if needs be. However, I've just burnt my hand on the glass of the machine door - halfway through a 95 half load wash - will have to do some more washing to see what the heck is going on! Could still be the thermostat of course - working at 95 but not 60?

VJ's mum - hope your Dad gets better soon
Byatt - a teaspoon of sugar , always in tomato dishes
Gailey - if you want cruising shoes, I wouldn't have any qualms about getting them secondhand

Sorry if I've missed someone out, my brain is fried. Sooooo exhausted. started work at 5am and have just sat down. We have lots of extra orders this week, which is obviously great since January is an awful month on the van, but means a lot of extra baking etc and I can only do that after my other job and sorting the children out. It's my son's birthday party on Saturday too so I ought to think about a cake for him. although too many days like this and I might cheat and buy one. Not very OS I know but it might save me from collapse.
  • Evening all. I know plenty of bag fanatics - Mulberrys are the fave amongst my colleagues. I personally stick with generics. Did you hear about Peacocks this week? I'm really sad as it's my favourite kids clothing store. Hopefully someone will buy it. Although how awful for the people working for Bon Marche.

I had my first NSD in like forever I reckon. Got some freebies at work - beauty samples we no longer need and the likes. Always nice when that happens. Hubby's syndicate won about £300 - so he got £36 of it I think.

Dont often come here but needed to get off my chest that my lodger is moving out after 5 years and I will miss the income too much. Great lodger and great money which covered my food and petrol. Overdrawn this month by less than last month as have been trying really hard but from now its gonna be a challenge. Made a start by turning off the radiator in the living room which I don't use very much as I live in the snug next to the kitchen most of the time. Panicked a bit. Am 62 and retired but will try and get some part time work now as getting another lodger might be risky since the last one became a friend as well and I'm scared in case another one isn't as nice. Kids all moved out too so it feels like I'm totally on my jack jones now. Another panic moment. Isn't life full of challenges!!!???
