Had to race off earlier as had call to collect DS from school (half day exclusion) so didnt get chance to finish.
Gailey - I really dont think shoes are necessary at all until he is properly walking without holding on. All the shoes people I have spoken to say the same. MY mum always says that when I was little there was no such thing as cruising shoes and that they are simply a money making exercise:) Seems an awful lot of hassle for something he really doesnt need yet.
Vjsmum - hope your dad gets better soon,
Havent bought a car yetdealer would not budge at all on price and offered nothing as px for ours, which means its overpriced so walked away. Difficult though as ours is now so ill I can only use it for school runs - no shopping, looking at cars at all. Am considering selling ours this week on ebay listing all its faults and giving me cash towards our purchase.
Had a NSD today which is nice, but have spent a fortune at weekend getting the little car back on the road for OH to take to work.0 -
Both my sons had soft leather booties while crawling and only got real shoes when they could walk completely unaided. My youngest is 16 months, he is on his second pair of shoes and is measuring a 5.5f, £30 in clarks as they were the only ones that fit his feet, eek! I could get them online but because they both have odd feet (one slightly bigger than the other) I'd rather they were checked properly. I think places like clarks cash in on parents fear and charge extortionate prices but ho hum. I haven't bought any shoes for myself in over 2 years, their feet are more important.
Waiting for OH to get home at 6pm so that we can have the ham in cider that's been slowcooking since 11am. I've done some potatoes too and it smells quite good, yum.
Watching kids tv at the moment and it's a program on itv, two blokes sailing around the coast trying different British food and seeing how it's made. It's brilliant! It's sad that some kids have no idea these days, I read an American survey a few years ago that found that the majority of American kids didn't know what animal beefburgers were made from. They made a declious looking apple cake but the kids were chatting away and I didn't catch much of it.

I just watched that; it's my area, so to speak. Amazing how lovely a place looks from the air!!
As for shoes, I wore secondhand (3rd and 4th hand ) shoes when a child. Sadly I have deformed toes as a result, but more because of wearing a size 13 (child) when I was really a 1 or 2. For whatever reason my parents didn't check, and for personal reasons I wasn't a child that complained.
So, when I had my DD, I always went to Clark's and had her measured and she has perfect toes.
Gailey are you near Clark's Village? I know my niece always buys shoes from there for her 2. It's heartbreaking when you have just bought shoes and they have a growth spurt the day after!0 -

Thanks Caroline, but I'm an "old bat" nowand my DD is 26, although I wish I'd known that back in the day. She is still "very heavy" on shoes. Thinking about it I don't think Clarks would have taken them back because they would have been well worn in 6 weeks.

off to clarkes sale this week they have small branch mothercare got tioddlers last pair there for 7quid so fingers crossed but few bargains ebay too.
So cold tonight took eldest to rainbows.
I find it hard to truly compare prices as my supermarket does nnot include morrsions or other smaller retailers i ocasionaly use to compare costs on value ranges as noticed when one increases all 4 do:mad:
Noticed huge rises in value lines so getting cheap better quality on lidls and poundshop now.
Did notice nice half price cooking pans sainsburys was debating another muffin tin at £5 as deep and heavy love mine do fairy cakes and mini quiches in it.
One think i dont skimp on is cookwear as most my stuff paid for itself with use.
my dream is le cruesett casserole dish its on my enrich list.
My enrich list pretty long but hoping can tick few things off it this year as some things fairly cheap and small like new knives, new electric toothbrush.
best go cook as got evening meal to cook and gamoon/chicekn to cook for cold meats then mini quches, fairycakes and soup to make too.
debating on sending hubby out on reduced hunt.
stressed myself out earlier putting buggy in boot as windows wound themselves down then had to start engibe to get them back up and 2/3kids were crying but calmed down now.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

No apologies needed everyone has bad weeks daily life of grind and bad weather gets most people down, its what the theads there for support.
Plus im quite distrusting of supersmiley people who always superhappy cant be normal:rotfl:.
Im actually in positive mood today
I made it to school on time:D-miracle!
walked over retail park about 25min walk as weather dry but cold.
took youngest to park was all to ourself wihich was nice.
baby loved the swings.
went to 2nd hand babyshop-shutting down as rent too high.
went to brantano-good sales assistant today measured kids feet.
My toddler grown slightly but shoes will still fit for bit longer.
baby is tiny 3half f the girls were 5g when they were first measured so he is a lot smaller!
Was thinking will go on ebay and look for some 3half cruisers and get him new when hes in walking. but just seen other thread on this board about 2nd hand shoes saying they bad? yet I brought quite afew new nearly new for me from carboots last few years, some 2nd hand for kids as freinds given me shoes and none of us had fungal infections!
went sainsburys coffee shop to warm up has coffee and toast.
went round sainsburys and even the offers to me dident seem all that!
Think when you truly mse/oldstyle too long its liek mists cleared and I can see through whats overpriced or what I dont need.
Dident have huge look around as had kids but happened to walk past icecream sundries. my kids love the sprinkles and they good on fairy cakes:) they like £2.50 a pot! I paid £1 in farmfoods for sprinkles split into 4 compartments and different colours.
My neighbour argued today that surly everyones pretty much the same prices she says as she just got back from tesco!
But it occured to me that random items like sprinkles over course of year theres definate savings to shopping around and not just sticking to big 4 as so many mates/family do and then moan they broke.
Going to start a price book of key items we buy and see how much can save.
But lidls, aldis, farmfoods and poundshops well worth a look for things like stock, soups, crisps. couldent do alol my shopping at one. I love lidls but its not cheap on everything. they have 10satchets of baking powder right now in german says back laver and was 39p much cheaper than just buying a pot in sainsburys as most recipies only calll for a teaspoon.
Sometimes sainsburys has mini baking events so waiting until that happens and stock up.
We recently discovered sainsburys basic milk buttons 35p for huge pack they fab and twice the weight of cadburys kids cant tell difference.
Only took cash today which focussed me more on do i really need that as love stretching my money to buy lots of items.
Hoping the long walk helped my weightloss tommorow as had bad weekend and think put on lb:(.
Hubby got the lidls lean mince half price at £1.34 sat and brought 6.
So last night made a shepards pie added 200g red lentils and hubby, eldest dident notice as looks like mince and allowed me 10portions so well chuffed was tasty! still need to test out milk carton containers to freeze stuff yet quite exited if it works.
right best go do housework
lunch
then school run.
Hope everyones doing ok.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Want to say Hi to all the newbies.
and where are some of the "oldies" ? Not good with names, but Softstuff? Saratoga? all the s'ssssssss and I'm sure there are a few others.
Can't type much as I seem to have something like RSI with my right hand...I use the touch pad on my lap top and hold my hand in the same position and it hurts like heck now! Can I sue myself???
What's the best way to stop cooked toms tasting so acidic in things like pasta bake? I love toms but somehow, in pasta they taste different and I don't enjoy the taste, yet I can eat cooked toms on their own no problem. Odd.
Oddities of the universe questions...I don't go out often, so why when I make an appointment and it's the only thing marked in my diary, is that date or dates then needed for something else too? Why?
also, why is it not possible to only eat one Thornton's chocolate?0 -
byatt you can use a pinch of bicarb to reduce the acidity in the tomatoes. Just put a pinch in, stir well and taste and only add a bit more if it is not right.0
