Have you seen the application forms now and what they want from a person!? Plus they want a personal statement for each position, and because I lack confidence, I don't believe I have what they want.

Here's a bit of advice: read the full job description very closely (yeah, like you don't do that now) and also pay attention to the profile of the person they're looking for. Put in your personal statement some of the important words or even the same phrases from both of those, and where possible provide evidence of how you qualify. If it makes it easier for you use the form and highlight the skills and attributes to help you compose it.

Honestly, just being able to string a comprehensible statement together in plain English should get you in the 10% of CVs that don't go in the bin. Plus, employers love hearing those words and phrases quoted back at them, like they're the Holy Scriptures or something equally important.

You might want to treat that tip with some distrust as I've been filling those blessed forms in and writing personal statement after personal statement for a long time now and still no job. Yet.

Just wanted to to say Good luck and give Hugs to those that need them.
Have had three NSD's this week but i realised that that meant I didn't cross the doors! I need to go for a walk or find something to do other than shop!
I do take the Grandkids to school but I need to do more. Gardening not back-friendly so may-be I could think about pots?
We get our BB from S-y. The phone costs £5 with £13 for the line. Our unlimited BB is £7 a month. Their web-site lets you build a package to see how much it costs before you buy it.
Don't like R****t M*****h but it's the cheapest version for me.

    Morning all :)

gailey please take it easy for a few days. Your body needs as much rest as possible otherwise you are going to prolong the course of the infection. Trust me, I've been there. Doing laundry with a temp of 40 while hallucinating is not fun.

Good luck with the CV Byatt :)

I have two days left until DH is back from his course and it can't be a moment too soon. I have reached the "Want to sob hysterically" stage of sleep loss. I know that nothing is going to help until DH is home, so chances are I will be cleaning the oven at 3am and trying not to curse too loud at it's makers.
My families visit went well thank goodness and my nephew is a gorgeous, smiley flirt. It was good to get cuddles, but I'm glad that I'm not getting used as a trampoline on a regular basis.
It is peeing it down in Leicester today and I have to go to the gym this morning and to collect new eye drops for DS1 this afternoon. Then pizza making for dinner and, if I can get DS1 off Skyrim, I might try to persuade the monsters to watch a film with me tonight. It will probably have to involve explosions/fighting, but I can live with that. I might even get something off Filmflex. DH is away spending money so £4 is allowed without guilt.

I hope everyone's days go well. Take care xxx

:question:Ok Elementary Question of the Day.........what is this thing called Quidco and how does one "go thru" it? Sorry to be dense but I've never bought or sold anything online, don't know my aspidistra from my e-bay and am a bit flummoxed but keen to learn.

Quidco is a site which is like a portal to shopping websites. Go to https://www.quidco.com and have a look around - for example in the search box (top right) type in 'Comet' and you will see what cashback deals comet are offering on their purchases. The idea is to entice you to spend with a particular retailer by getting cashback on your purchase, making your item cheaper.

So, you can use it like a search engine to find a particular produce, service or company and then you can see all the different 'deals' that are available. the deals may be a % of the item cost as cashback (as with ebay) or it may be a flat rate depending on what you purchase. There may be other deals such as free delivery or a % discount off your final total with a particular retailer.

The deals/cashback/discounts etc are offered by the retailer, through quidco, quidco is acting as an intermediary.

In order to use quidco, you have to register. The process is very easy but you do need to provide them with some personal details.

Any purchases made through quidco are 'tracked' and the money shows in your quidco account. However, the payout times of retailers to quidco can vary (from days to months for some products, like insurance).

In your preferences (when you sign up) you set the amount of amount that has to be in your account before quidco pay out. So if you set your preference to £50, you won't get it paid out until there is £50 in your account.

Also, quidco charge an annual fee of £5. This money is deducted from your cashback. So, you don't have to pay them upfront. But when you do get cashback of say £105, you will receive £100 and £5 will go to quidco. They don't take the money unless and until it is there.

    Hope that helps

This info is good, I actually had a go with a leek in a dish a couple of months ago and it did start to grow. I think it would be better to put it in a pot or in the ground though as water does not have the food it needs to grow. It was an interesting experiment though. There is a site called garbage gardening but have not time to look.

Has anyone heard how the new univers@l credit will affect people yet? I had an email in which someone explained it in simple terms and it was not good. It seems that if dh is not earning much more by 2014 I will be made to find a job and will be expected to apply for and take anything the job centre says! I just hope health is taken into account. Getting it without strings attached is linked to how much you earn. Dh would need to be earning over another £100 a week. I can see that families who get by on a couple of part time jobs are going to be up the creek because they will have to go full time or get more part time jobs and just how many jobs will there be?

Do feel like im saying no to my 5year old a lot as too expensive,

Might have to travel to nearby suberb for more competative prices.
rarly have much luck with kids stuff.

Off to nct nearly new sale sat they usally mad but good.
cant wait for carboots to start.love fact can go there witha tenner and come home with lots and kids feel like they get a treat even my 13year old stepson loves it but we lucky we have some huge ones here.

On lookout for 2nd pushbike so maybe can get around bit quicker with rucksack and do reductions at evening and carboot minus the kids!

As fot the clubs want her to have hobbies, shes made a few freinds and is getting very good at gym working towards new badge think its teaches her some disipline.

Rainbows is younger vesrion of brownies and is cheap and great as shes part of community, doing parades and mnaking messy crafts outside the house!

HELP- MY NUMPTY HUSBAND HAS BEEN STUPID.

Got reduced chicken and white wine pie yesterday in co-op from fresh section. put in fridge planned to do for tea tonight.
Hubby exdited about pie to 3/4 of it in his lunchbox.
But its uncooked can only be cooked in oven he just has microwave at work. Just rang him when discovered and hes ate a 1/4 of it already!
Will be be ok?hoping he brings rest back and cook it later.
why do men not read instructions. I dont even think it looked ready to eat clearly needed cooking!
