Gailey i'm sure you hubby will be fine with the chicken. I'd be worried about the pastry!

Wen that sounds nasty hope your feeling better.

GQ Were with Virgin for broadband and phone, never had a problem with them. Not recently anyway, were very close to our BT building i.e about 4 meters away if that so we can get fast broadband whoever we go with. the main reason we went with virgin is because of the unlimited broadband. We all use it including my 11 and 7 yr old. Were very high usage.

One thing to look out for is the further away you are from your BT building the slower your connection will be. For example i live four metres away so i can receive the fastest speeds say 50mb, while my neighbours who live 8 metres away will get slower broadband. My sister who lives 3 miles away will recieve a paltry amount compared to myself.
you see your internet is shared, so for instance if 10 are logging on at same time the internet is split between 10 people. Then 20 people log on at the same it split between 20 , same as with 30 etc.

Whilst on fibre optic your replying on underground cables which have nothing to do with the BT buildings. Which i also another reason i went with Virgin, need broadband at all times due to the nature of our business. checkout as well if need you need to have a BT landline installed before deciding who to go with.

Best companies i reckon are Virgin, plusnet and O2. Also if your with O2 mobile you get discounted broadband rates.

Well just got back from the garage and paid a whopping £220 to have the front brakes, shoes, pad and hand brake sorted. Luckily we had the money in the business account to pay it. Two weeks time it will be going back in again as i think the glowplugs need changing.

Kidcat your like me always tinkering with, the mechanics / car sellers look in despair when they see me :rotfl: Luckily our current one quite nice and just goes "come and see this" and hands me the broken parts of car / van. OH loves it when i look at cars as i'm the one asking all the questions!!!

wen3 - could it be bells palsy? a friend had it a few years ago now and it wasnt pleasant, I seem to remember he needed treatment immediately.

I wondered that myself - hope you are OK, wen3

What a filthy miserable day it is. Done 3 loads of washing and put them out (rotary line has a cover) but even with cover don't think they'll dry much, more of the same tomorrow we're told. Still at least it isnt snowing or freezing so I am ok with it.

Slow cooker beef casserole tonight - at least that will be reasonably recognisable :D Kids will moan though, even though I don't have an onion to put in it.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Blimey, that takes some doing!

I agree with you, but DH, DS and DD love it and beg me for it. I give them a little corner each and tell them they can't have any more or they'll get a poorly tummy but I have no idea if I just made that little gem of wisdom up!

Here's a bit of advice: read the full job description very closely (yeah, like you don't do that now) and also pay attention to the profile of the person they're looking for. Put in your personal statement some of the important words or even the same phrases from both of those, and where possible provide evidence of how you qualify. If it makes it easier for you use the form and highlight the skills and attributes to help you compose it.

Honestly, just being able to string a comprehensible statement together in plain English should get you in the 10% of CVs that don't go in the bin. Plus, employers love hearing those words and phrases quoted back at them, like they're the Holy Scriptures or something equally important.

You might want to treat that tip with some distrust as I've been filling those blessed forms in and writing personal statement after personal statement for a long time now and still no job. Yet.

B&T, thanks for the tips. :) One time I actually had help from an "expert" and he was convinced I would get an interview; in fact said, he'd guarantee it. My PS positively glowed...no interview; in fact no acknowledgement of any sort. I hate all these buzz words. And if asked if I can work as part of a team whilst being able to work on my own, I am not going to say hell no am I?! :rotfl: I am too old and jaded I think.

Rosetta, thanks for the linky; I will have a look. :)

    Afternoon
Had to go to the Drs this morning one side of my face is numb and tingley and also has a slight rash on it, the Dr has no idea what it is, I have to go back on Monday if it is still the same.

Anyway DH gets paid today and we are off to costco tomorrow. This month I am realy going to try to be os and save some money.

Byatt - you mentioned a forum or thread about compertitions could you let me know as I would like to have a go please.

Hope everyone else is doing okay and I hope the hubby who ate the raw pir is okay.

Wen, do you get migraines? I get numbness and tingliness when I am about to get a migraine; sometimes my nose goes numb too.

The comp forum is on MSE, go to the front page of forums and scroll right down, it's not quite the last forum. I am an intermittent comper, some people do loads every day. I don't use any other forum because it confuses me as to which ones I have entered. You click thanks when you have entered one and then you always know which ones you have done. Good luck! :)

Kidcat, well done on finding a car! Loved to have seen the mechanics face!

This info is good, I actually had a go with a leek in a dish a couple of months ago and it did start to grow. I think it would be better to put it in a pot or in the ground though as water does not have the food it needs to grow. It was an interesting experiment though. There is a site called garbage gardening but have not time to look.

Has anyone heard how the new univers@l credit will affect people yet? I had an email in which someone explained it in simple terms and it was not good. It seems that if dh is not earning much more by 2014 I will be made to find a job and will be expected to apply for and take anything the job centre says! I just hope health is taken into account. Getting it without strings attached is linked to how much you earn. Dh would need to be earning over another £100 a week. I can see that families who get by on a couple of part time jobs are going to be up the creek because they will have to go full time or get more part time jobs and just how many jobs will there be?

Grandma, sorry I don't know. I seem to find out things when they directly affect me, because all the little things they have stopped aren't clear until then. Does that make sense? The whole thing is worrying and scary. I'm currently worse off by about £100 pm and expect it to get worse.

SDG, thank you for the good wishes.

Someone mentioned a magimix? I'm not sure what they do, so can't suggest a name :o I need to Google.

Feel a bit poorly today; have been feeling cold for the last couple of days (more so than usual!). Went to bed for a couple of hours and would still be there if it wasn't for pooch wanting her tea.

Talking about the post office and parcels; mine only opens at ridiculous hours and not for very long. I turned up one day for a parcel; it was a whisky freebie and the bu$- er postmen said they had returned it by mistake. Of all the parcels in all the world, it had to be that one!

Glad you're feeling better, but look after yourself and any doubts go to the Dr.

Good luck with comping. I never thought of myself as lucky, but have won a few nice prizes; my first was the Cushelle Koala, and in fact kept winning those! :rotfl: But it made me think, if I can win a koala who knows what I can win. I also won tix last year to see All the Fun of the Fair...amongst other things. This year it was the tix to a play in London and of course my beautiful flowers.

Byatt thank you. I think I am more scared for my grownup kids because they have young children. It will make life very difficult indeed as there never were that many jobs here and if they have to travel to work things will be even worse.
