Wen, forgot to mention there is a programme called Roboform which fills in forms; really a very quick way to do comps. There are other programmes, but I use Roboform. It is a free trial, which I have used, yet to to use the paid one, but it's amazing how many more comps you can do with it.0

For all times are going to get tougher than people would prefer, it can be balanced by thinking of the advantages we have over those of our grandparents and the generations before them; that way it is easier to be a trifle more optimistic.
Gardening dominated this mornings time table - I now have a "patio" and "decking" outside of my shedOk, so when I say "patio" I used some odd bits of paving and a few bricks that were in the discard pile to make a mini crazy paving
And when I say "decking" ... well, to be fair, it was a rather solid pallet which, when a few spadefuls of soil were removed does look a bit like decking :rotfl: "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" and a creative turn of phrase makes the picture a whole lot rosier
There was an old weather vane hidden among the debris at the back which I salvaged when we first moved in. Its been laying around doing nothing. Today, I used the old hollow spike dug out from the old whirlygig washing line and the weather vane pole slotted in perfectly! Now need to find an "arrow" twirly bit to stick in the top so I can see which way the wind is blowing - but, even without one, it looks rustic and adds interest.
Dinner will be meatloaf made from sausagemeat mixed with a packet of sage and onion stuffing formed into a loaf shape and baked, with baked potato and baked beans - an "all-in-oven" meal. I still have sliced apple in the freezer from my Autumn glut, so Apple crumble will be dessert.

Someone mentioned a magimix? I'm not sure what they do, so can't suggest a name
I need to Google.
A magimix is a type of food processor. I am thinking "Monica" just cos. I suppose "Maggie" would be better but it goes against my politics!
Spent the morning watching boys v parents footie. OH sent me so he didn't have to play - I didn't play either. It was bloomin freezing and I still havent' got warm. OH was left to man the domestic front but I have to go round sorting out what he did. Then I'm off to Mr T to buy my new Android smartphoney thing. Have spent most of the week researching and comparing and I just can't justify the iphone so am off to get a Samsung Galaxy SII and Mr T is doing the best deal. <sigh> I suppose that will need a name too - Sam seems to obvious, maybe Annie Android.
Out to dinner with friends this evening - cost me £15 in wine and choccies mind. But will be nice to catch up with them.
Have a good rest of day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Many people are having to learn skills which modern living meant they didn't *need* to learn to survive. Now it's coming full circle again and there are enough people with the necessary skills to pass on. Plus, these days there is the internet which makes gaining access to information/advice/how-to's so very much easier (previous generations predominantly relied on word of mouth and a good memory
).
I definitely agree with this, between OH and I we earn a decent wage and live in an area of high employment - I know how lucky we are - but I have recently been taking more of an interest in OS just in case the worst happens.
We do a bit of grow our own (been self sufficient in potatoes over the winter), cook almost everything from scratch etc. but OH was sceptical about looking for reduced food in supermarkets... until he found some reduced rib eye steak :rotfl:Now he heads straight for the meat, looking for yellow stickers!
If anything were to happen job-wise (and I am searching for a new job at the moment with no joy as my current job, whilst well paid, is making me really unhappy) I think we could cope, just as long as the cooking was left to me.
It is thanks to my mum for all her advise and the wisdom and experience of people on this forum (especially this thread) that I can say that as a few years ago I would definitely not be able to.0
