Hope all goes smoothly for your dear Mum today GQ. We have Virgin here but our package is ridiculous as my lot are all gamers so we have 50 meg BB at present but getting 100meg soon for free (or was it 200meg I forget)
I am however really happy with their service,we have their mobiles and phone package too and on the whole its trouble free.

Off to Sainsburys soon for bread and milk..yeah right :rotfl: any bargains about??

Making doughnuts today and have some blueberries I found festering in the back of the fridge so will be attempting a rather lush looking blueberry and almond tart from Good Food :D

Tiddling down and really dark here so my potatoes are still swimming in their bags, might send OH out to stick them in the greenhouse for now.

Have a great day all XX

ooh edited to add don't forget to check Quidco etc when you take it our in case there is a cashback deal on there GQ

Greyqueen - it's all to do with which company has LLU on your exchange, if you go Samknows.com (I think) it will tell you. We only have BT and Plusnet (because they are owned by BT) as no companies have LLU presence here. Companies pay BT to use the exchange, they often don't consider it worth it in rural areas. We don't get too bad speed, it's the choice of services that's the pain...

    I didn't explain that well...

BT own the phonelines and exchanges, people like talk talk and o2 and all the others 'rent' space on the exchange from BT so they can sell broadband. Broadband comes through the phonelines, unless you have fibreoptic which is another story...

    Morning Everyone :)

GQ I hope your Mom's hospital visit goes well. We are with Virgin for TV, phone, internet and mobiles and are happy with the service we have gotten.

D&DD Can I find the tart recipe online? I have about 5 punnets of organic blueberries in the freezer brought at 25p each and could use a new recipe for them. I tend to cook them in maple syrup to make a sauce to serve with pancakes

kidcat I hope your son is feeling better this morning.

I went to the Boots sale yesterday morning and got a few bargains. The secret is to get there as soon as the doors open or as close to it as you can manage. Also the stock varies from store to store, so it is worth trying a few of them. I got 5 birthday presents and 10 Christmas presents for £53, so an average of £3.50 each. It's now an annual shopping trip with my friend and her daughter and we know that we will be carrying masses at the end of it.

My family is visiting me this morning, so I've cleaned the kitchen, tidied away most of the clutter and hoovered downstairs. One advantage of DH being away and my not sleeping is that I'm too tired to care what state the house is in and what my Mom will think. They seemed quite wary of upsetting me on the phone yesterday, so fingers crossed it will go well and I get gorgeous nephew cuddles which is a wonderful bonus :D
They want to go to the local shopping centre to get lunch, so I will have to resist spending any more money. I had budgeted for the shopping yesterday, but not for the grocery delivery that is due on Saturday. DH is away until sunday night and I had a £12 off a £60 shop voucher that expires on saturday. That combined with a free delivery code means that it came to £49 and my cupboards and freezer will be stocked.
I'd better go and have a quick run around the house and put away the last of the mess. Thank goodness my nephew isn't walking yet as this house is far from baby proof any more.
  • Another vote for Plusnet. I moved to them (broadband only, not their inclusive phone package) about a year ago. Customer and technical support is UK based. The move over was smooth and quick and service has been reliable. Only had to contact them for help when setting up something wireless, and they were very good. Very happy with them.

GQ - positive vibes being sent for your Mum. Can't give you any advice on the 'pooter' stuff (We're Virgin BB & all the other guff) but get it sorted 'cos we'd all miss you soooooooooo much if you couldn't post

I am celebrating OH feels like going out today. Apart from the trip back and forth to Dd's front door I have only been to the supermarket, hospital and chemist for weeks - one very stir crazy Ginny, but much fitter from all that running places business. :T

GQ good luck with your Mums results xxx AS for broadband I have always been with BT cos Oh says we always get bitten when we swop providers - true, she says remembering the great electricity debacle of 2000. But I have heard great things of Plusnet - O2 are terrible. We have fibreoptic simply cos BT gave it us.

Kidcat hope your boy is better soon, change is the worst thing isnt it, so unsettling. I have a friend with Aspergers and for a number of years I was his only support network, he was just too intelligent to be out of work and finally found a company that understood and has come on in leaps and bounds. Your duvet day is the best thing for him, isnt it, lots of TLC hugs ginny

    Afternoon all

Hugs to those that need them and hope all goes well with your Mum GQ.

I know I am a bit late but I made some butter, it all looks good have give some to my Dad who popped in to deliver me some milk. He was very impressed. I now have the buttermilk left over, so what do I do with it? All receipes greatly received.

I have also made a HUGE bread pudding, just before christmas we had an extra loaf and it went a couple of days out of date so I stuck it in the freezer, today I have taken it out and made the above, I am not sure how long it will take to cook as the receipe I had I had to x4, we will haave to wait and see. I have promised DH he can take it into work tomorrow for everyone to have.

Off to look for more ideas with butter milk.

another vote for o2 bb here. I was previously on sky for telephone, tv and bb but it was costing me a fortune. Sky thought nothing of bumping prices up £1 or 50p there a month with no explanation.

I was dubious of o2 bb at first but they have been brilliant so far and we've had it since September. I've been with o2 payg for years now and we pay £10 for the bb.

On a similar note my mobile is dying :( it's had a hard life anyway and my toddler doesn't help matters. All the PAYG phones are so expensive, I need a new digital camera too so I am debating whether to go on a cheap contract. There's an offer on tmobile for the iphone 3gs for £15 a month, which is what I spend at the moment anyway, unlimited texts too. Will have to give it some thought and see if o2 will do me a similar deal.
