Beginning to wish I'd not deleted my Boots Sale Email ;)

Grim here too...really misty. Well actually we are in the cloud...so I guess that's why. I let the chookies out to forage the bottom end of the garden today, as it's like the Somme in their pen, they are probably trashing everything but they do enjoy their days out.

I sorted out my wardrobe a bit yesterday, and fished out a couple of things I never wear to take to the charity shop. I've just taken a pair of scissors to a wrap around style dress that wasn't wrap (IYKWIM) but it still looks dreadful even when it's looser, so I've chucked that into the pile with an upfront apology to whoever ends up with it - cos they'll probably want to sew it back together! I figured as I was chucking it anyway it was worth a try. I've got 'loads' of clothes...but most days I either wear a) dogproof jeans. t shirt and a fleece waistcoat b) my work uniform, black trousers, black t shirt, black fleece waistcoat c) chicken cleaning/gardening clothes or d) my B&B 'uniform' Jeans, green t-shirt, pink fleece waistcoat. This means that the VAST majority of my stuff is never worn. And especially not my 'evening' stuff as we never go anywhere...I found a fantastic LBD (brandname Little black dress) in a charity shop in London for £6 - we've been here three years nearly and it still has it's charity shop tag on it! I wish I could be more brutal when purging, but I simply can't.

I wanted to sort out a cupboard today, but it meant dragging everything out into the garden, and it's raining, so put paid to that. I really don't seem to be able to actually achieve anything this week :(
I've got stuff to do in town too, so may spend this afternoon trying to sort out a list to maximise the cost effectiveness of my trip. Market day though, so will be a pain to park.

Haven't a clue what's for dinner :rotfl: Organised Owl is not my name this week!

So sad about FTM's loss. :(

Mrs Chip my dd is 26, but Asperger's/ASD. No, she doesn't understand his manipulations although there are times she surprises me with her astuteness. She can't put herself in my place and doesn't really understand (partly of course she doesn't know all the horrors and I would never tell her)....why I can't forgive and forget as he and his family seemingly have done. :o

kidcat, yes, she does know I will be there for her no matter what and we have been through some tough times. She wants a relationship with him which I understand. I am luckier than most as many mums have to deal with their ex's directly because of children being so young. He just hasn't changed or learned anything from his actions which is a shame.

mardatha, glad you feel somewhat better. Your DD's news about losing £85 pw is awful.

The thing is with all these changes, is that many potential losses are hidden or not clear at first. I know in a few months I will be losing a lot and when I asked at the Job Centre, what options do I have, they kind of shrugged their shoulders.

Elche1 , hi and welcome. Looking forward to any tales of Spain.

Wen, well done on the Boots sale. I popped onto the web site, but it said it was all over!! Just as well probably. :rotfl:

I have read all the Nella Last books; absolutely loved them and her. I was so excited when the latest diary was published last year (?)...I wonder what she would have made of all the celebrity status if she had been alive when published.

Gailey, I was wondering if you could return the remote and get the cheaper one? You're an inspiration to me and I love reading your posts. I'd love to have you as another daughter or DIL. :)

B&T, I remember the little Cadbury chocolate bars. I also remember outside toilets, newspaper for toilet roll and tin baths (no bathroom)...The cistern would freeze in winter!

Off to make something hot and tasty with a potato. :D

Does anybody else think its the rotten summer and lack of sun that's catching up on all of us and making everybody feel poorly? I can't remember the last warm sunny day I've had. Our summer was cool and grey and spring was freezing. Then all the forecasts of the coldest snowiest winter yet !!! so god knows what summer will bring LOL. Hopefully something round and yellow :D
I got Complan and like it, pity it costs so much.

We cant grumble where we live.cos we do get a lot of sunny days, ive dried near on most of my washing all winter on outside line, actually on news and papers if we dont soon get some rain East Anglia will be on a drought this winter...........I do like cold sunny days in the winter, rain soon gets me down and depressed:mad:.........Glad your feeling better mardy , and very bad news for your daughter and anyone else that are having to pay extra on their rent, its a lot of dosh to find per week, I hope she finds a way..........Sorry to hear FTM s bad news, not good............Take care all......

Mrs Chip One thought. Offer a reduced price on drinks/soup if they have their own mugs. A lot of walkers have their own.

Remember to specify a maximum size though, in case someone comes along with a 2 litre 'stein' and demands that it be filled!

What's all this about a sale at Boots? I was in a branch this afternoon and noticed nothing. The only reason I was in there was because I had to return something which was faulty and still under guarantee. Of course, Sod's Law dictates that I could not get a replacement because they don't manufacture them any longer. Nearest substitute incurred an outlay of £14. So cross. Was just as well I didn't spot any tempting bargains. It's not like I need anything so soon after Chrissie.

Had an aimless mooch round @sda (risky!) and found exactly the right tea-tray for my sister for three quid. Was shocked she didn't own one when I visited her new flat over Christmas. She's got cream carpets, too. Danger Zone in spades when you like red wine...

I need to know more about this declined £85 a week rent-rebate of Mardy's daughter. Negotiating with landlord or something else?

Exciting discovery this afternoon! Daffs and crocuses are poking their little leaves above the surface if the soil. A whole inch! Cheered me up no end. It doesn't take much and I'm grateful for small mercies.

:o Its ok it was in her ear !!! Just too far up bless her..with most dogs when you lift up their earflap its easy to see their ear canal but she's just a mass of wrinkles under there so I've been religiously applying her cream to a flamin' wrinkle and NOT into her ear canal as I thought ...BAD mummy :(
Think the vet thought I was either totally nuts or joking didn't help my OH started telling me off in the room too..think she was glad to get rid of us!

Hopefully now she'll feel better soon it must have been driving her mad I feel awful for her..she's so good letting me do them as well.

Fish cakes were lovely DS3 did a great job,did my wrinkly courgettes today and just have a rather sad cucumber to use up tomorrow.

I fancy pizza for tea tomorrow so might do a double batch as I've made a bit of room in the freezer now and can fit a few little ones in.

B&T - I had prescriptions to collect today so popped into Boots, there wasnt much to be honest, I picked up a couple of giftsets for DD17 friends birthdays and that was about it. There was a Jamie Oliver burger making kit, with a flimsy plastic bowl, plastic round cutter and a plastic pepper? Was reduced to £3.25 form £13, i wouldnt have paid the £3.25 never mind full price. And that was the same for most of the stuff, even at 75% off it seemed expensive. :)

THe week here keeps polling through one disaster to another, both cars are now playing up, big one goes to specialist tomorrow and little one is sleeping over at the mechanics tonight so he can see him start first thing!!

DS7 had a really bad night last night, which made us think he was possibly sickening for something. BUt wasnt ill this morning so sent him to school - bad move, had a really bad day today, OH was called in afterwards to see the aftermath. On the plus side the new temp teacher was apparently very helpful and seemed to be much more clued up, she actually suggested he was probably getting ill as she has seen it before!
DS then came home and wraught devastation across house, including dismantling the bathroom sink and water everywhere! Ironically it was at the point that I realised I had never gotten around to finding the stop tap!! :o:o
Thankfully dad was already on the phone talking me through a repair in bedroom when it happened so was on hand to arrive and stem the flow, whilst I investigated stop taps!

Meantime DD alerts us to fact DS is definitely ill and has very upset stomach!!

He is now bouncing off walls (literally) and am praying the calpol kicks in soon.

It really has been one of those weeks, and its only Wednesday as DD reminded me earlier.:eek:
