All this talk about broadband providers and mobile phones...well, it just makes my brain go wibble-wobble! :rotfl:
I have been with BT for 5yrs now, paying mega prices because I haven't a clue how to transfer out to another provider (does that mean I have to change my email address?), and there are so many so-called deals out there....wibble-wobble, wibble-wobble...yer see? Do I need the phone line with my broadband as one package? is it better to separate them...? wibble-wobble
I can't even think about my soup now....wibble-wobble wibble-wobble :rotfl:
Thanks for the Plusnet recommendations. I'll be taking a look at the weekend, and hope that you've all given me the confidence I need to get this sorted.
Off to wibble-wobble finish lunch wibble-wobble and back to wibble-wobble work :rotfl:0 -
Just slowly catching up, missed a day and you all post lots eeks..
GQ - BT are one of the most expensive, now ok their broadband is good but for me now I would never have them again, why because they cannot work out their bills; I was with them 4 years ( I was the patient loyal sort who forgives problems but no more) every bill I got from them was wrong - they would add my home phone bill onto my broadband, charge me triple for broadband, oh you name it if it could be wrong they did it, had to report them I do not know how many times to oh forget name, but each quarter I would do so and BT would say sorry won't happen again have a quarter free on us and I accepted thinking ok, till next quarter all repeat till I just had enough with the battles. Still with them for calls as by paying line rental a year in advance they work out the cheapest for us.
I moved to O2 basically they gave me a good deal, know them as we as a family use them for mobiles and I got a great deal - customer service very good when I have called them and tech help so far I have found great ( but not had to use much as I can solve most things myself) I pay £6.25 a month that is an unlimited download package up to 20mgs not that my exchange gives that, top is 12 but for me its a good price - you will not see if on their site just main price but they you have a little word to see what deal they can give you. My package started off at £17 then down to £12.50 then down again to £6.25 just for a year I admit have to make the call again in Sept. So that is my pennyworth for you to consider, it is a minefield out there so many companies.
Keeping everything crossed for your mum.
Madartha hope you are continuing to feel more the thing, it is annoying about complan as it does taste nice, mine you sainsbobs do their own which I find just as nice, but then I only like vanilla flavour and cannot always get it. I think Boots do their own one as well. On a side note was in my Boots yesterday and didn't see any mention of a sale at all, but I was looking with blinkers on for a nose hair trimmer, calm down no laughing at me having nose hair, I most certainly do not she says putting on her best Mrs Bucket, I find them fab for doing the old eyebrows, holding tweezers not so easy these last few years so bought one of them and found it very good for tidying up the eyebrows, but one I had packed in. Boots didn't have any but Wilkinsons did £2, so eyebrows now done and I look less like ye old hair witch.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

GQ we're with Virgin and have been for at least 12 years. Every time I threaten to quit they lower the price. In that time I've really had no issues with them at all though which isn't a bad 14 year record.0

Looks like I'm in a minority here, but we're with TalkTalk and have had no problems with them. We have our landline with them and free broadband was part of the deal. Their CS was excellent when we switched from Orange (started out as Freeserve, morphed into Wanadoo then taken over by Orange), whereas Orange were hopeless.
We live about 250m from a telephone exchange; no idea whether that affects the service
Hope your mum's tests are fine GQ0 -
GQ, positive thoughts winging their way to your mum. Also thanks for asking about BB as I have a dilemma over whether to change, I'm with BT, or cancel...or what...like you LB's, wibble wobble
Looking for jobs I found 2 I was interested in. One is a no go, as although I know I could do the job, I don't have the relevant/recent experience. The other one I would love, but I have lost my confidence in even applying. I have had some knock backs, and I am just a gibbering wreck at interviews. Have you seen the application forms now and what they want from a person!? Plus they want a personal statement for each position, and because I lack confidence, I don't believe I have what they want. One friend does the first job and I know what hoops she had to jump through to get it, but she's much younger than me and less gibberish. I have done complicated office work in the past, dealt with the public and so on, but oh dear. Even if I get an interview, I'm not sure I could face the inevitable disappointment of not getting it. Having said all this, I am going to try and complete the application form for the second job and just not hold my breath. It's just so frustrating knowing what I can do, but being so afraid at the same time. It's been well over 15 years since I've been in paid employment although I have been self employed.
Does anyone know what MS Office is? I think I know, because I use word etc all the time, but I'm no good at excel, well I could do a bit I suppose. Also I have a degree but not enough GCSE's in Maths.
Another friend always tells me to just blag it; she has, and got a great job.
I'm already shaking just thinking about filling the form out. Who am I kidding, I'm 59 this year... they are going to get hundreds if not thousands of applications.
Kidcat hope you had a nice duvet day and your son is feeling better.0 -
Eeek - is it me, but all text on the site suddenly gone to centre justification???Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Hi Byatt.
You are right, you probably do know about Microsoft Office (sometimes referred to as MS office).
It's a group of programmes that include Word, Excel, Powerpoint (for doing presentations) and Access (for databases). Most jobs only really require the first two, so I'm sure you would be fine.
I hope you can manage to fill in the application form, even if you don't send it off, as I suspect you'd find it less daunting that you think once you start on it. Also, you'd probably feel really good once you get it done - you know those personal statements, if you can manage to do one, actually can end up boosting you bacause you end up convincing yourself how good you really are.
Good luck with it.0 -
