Hehe, all this talk of tomato and pasta stashes - sounds like another hand of food poker is on its way
I'm ashamed to admit that I'm going to the hairdressers tomorrow for a cut and colour. In my defence, the appointment was booked when I was still gainfully employed and I do have the money set aside for it. I won't be making a follow up appointment though. Home colouring should be easy enough but I'm not sure I (or DH) would make a very good fist of trimming it, so will look for somewhere that will do this cheaply. Prices where I go at the moment are :eek:0 -
I would risk the chicken as long as the slow cooker has not been turned off at any stage.
If you are really worried you could shallow fry it and add other ingredients getting up to high temp for about 20 mins at least.
Savoury stuffed pancakes are ready to go in oven for later and DH has been warned to mention leftovers on pain of something very nasty!!!
Going to prepare the apple crumble while it is quiet. See you later."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon All
Well and truly pooped again. We arrived here in London at midnight last night after a 41/2 hour drive. Did not sleep well as I was very cold (house was freezing) and that is most unusual for me (being cold I mean!). Up early to start packing the van. Various shenanigans trying to dismantle the bedframe and get it down the stairs, but after a degree of cursing we got there. The van is rammed full, so we are getting our monies worth on the hire (and the fuel - it cost £60 to get up here :eek::eek:).
On the up side, I have gathered up all my tins and packets, and will take two coldbags full of frozen stuff back, so our larder will be fit to bust!
I am dreading having to unpack the van in Wales, I think rain is forecast, if so it will be a horrible job - you have to take your life in your hands galloping across the road, and in the rain it can be hellish. We have to have the van back by 3 so no margin for slacking.
Sitting in the living room with the gas fire on economy, but freezing even with a blanket over, so looking forward to a hot bath.
It is no fun being cold in your own home, I wonder how often the fool Osborne has had to put up with that? We are choosing to be mean and not ramp up the heating, but I know hundreds of thousands of people have no choice, which is a terrible state of affairs.
Taurus - glad to see you back! hugs etc for all who need them!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

Hubby put a chicken in the slow cooker 24 hours ago on low is it still safe to eat???? he was going to switch of this morning and use for sandwiches but forgot
sorry not being rude xxx

Low is a cooking temp, so it should be fine. It's if it's left on 'warm' (if you have a keep warm setting) for long that it can be an issue. I boil my chickens and low is hot enough to keep them on a very slow rolling boil. And boiling them prevents them drying out when you forget them/get stuck in the rush hour/fall asleep early, plus makes lots of stock0 -
Tins do breed in captivity in optimum conditions. These conditions are !) that you dont really want the tins and 2) that you do really want the space they're in!
That would explain the random tins of fruit salad, spam and mushy peas in my store cupboard then - they are random mutations, right ?:p

don’t listen to just the doom and gloom merchants though, too many of them have their own agenda, and there is some positive stuff out there. There were some good reactions to yesterday’s autumn statement, and some signs that it has given a boost to world confidence in the UK's ability to get out of debt though its going to take some time
Goldman Sachs are just about to have their credit grading downgraded btw
It's a given that many people in any context "have their own agenda". This being the case though, then it would be interesting to see what you feel is the "hidden agenda" for "doom and gloom merchants".
Could you please explain what you perceive that to be?0 -
I just am so desperate to get my gas arrears paid off from last year and last month we used more than our direct debit was. I'm really scared about the gas and so want to go onto prepay but I know that would cost us even more because of the higher tarriffs.
!
Fuddle why not put a weekly amount into a separate account, and then transfer it accross to pay the direct debit. That way you'll have the benefit of any discounts with the d/d but will have the money saved each month to pay it.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

I am impressed :T:T:T:T the NHS has worked here despite the much needed strikes - we need to stand up and be counted! We had to take Dd's OH to casualty earlier due to him rushing down stairs to answer the door and badly banging his hand on the baby gate. His hand swelled up like a blimp and had a splinter of 'possibly' bone sticking out. Despite his status as a 'man' ie a mardy bottom he was blatantly in real pain as he took a pain killer. Dd rang casualty first and very nicely asked if it was ok to come in and they said they were doing ok. Dropped him off - as he is terrible to wait with as he fidgets and an hour later he was x rayed bandaged up and off - severe soft tissue bruising. So I can still stand up and support the strike cos if Manchester can cope its a miracle - they can't cope normally!
Made my streeeettchy tater hash and it was fab. But I ran out of midget gems:(:(
