Mum2twomonkeys, Sorry to hear about your little one
I know lots of people are suffering but I am feeling pretty crap today.
Its my birthday, and I have not had a text, or phone call or card from any of my family.Maybe its because its near xmas, I dont know.
But heaven help you if you forget any of theirs.
So I am going to open a box of chocs, I know I shouldnt but I am.:(
Happy Birthday Kimsmum! Enjoy those chocolates. I don't blame you for feeling fed up.0 -

Fellpony I am so sorry for your loss
Kimsmum Happy birthday x
DH is driving across the country as we speak so I am a bit nervy.
Took all the moggies to the vets for the second set of jabs and even though I have sworn the only pets coming into this house will be fostered I started to look longingly at the dogs in the waiting room.
I said to one lady that I do love dogs but I can not afford to have any more pets and her reply was that although she had taken a rescue dog in and it has epilepsy she is the best thing that has happened to her in years and if she has to give up chocolate and luxuries to pay for treatment then at least it helps her diet :rotfl::rotfl:
Only problem is I have no luxuries left to give up only the ciggies

Fellpony I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. It's not the right order of things, no-one should go through that, just awful and I can't imagine how I'd cope. Lots of hugs for you.
Kimsmum Many Happy Returns! I won't sing "Happy Birthday", your ears would explode.
Good day for me today. Hubby won £50 on the Daily Wail scratchcard, so that's been posted off (and confirmed by 'phone) and will go toward the bills.
Went into the Big City and I bought a summer top from Primark for £1. Even cheaper than a charity shop. They have quite a few things in there for £1...mostly good if you're a size 8/10 of course (I'm most definitely NOT).
Hubby had one of his twice-a-year bets on the horses the other day and won £30....so bought me lunch out.
Things are on the up for 2012......(said quietly with fingers, toes and everything else crossed).

Thanks rosieben and kidcat, I can now see avatars! :j
Sunshine-55, wishing you good luck with the job. Let us know how you get on. I also impulse buy but I'm trying to ease my guilt by buying presents in the sale. Have for the first time ever set myself a budget for presents and am keeping a spreadsheet of all expenditure so hopefully will stick to it as I tend to go overboard with my nephew and neices!
Byatt, I am definitely an emotional spender and it got me into a lot of credit card debt when I was younger and much more neurotic (honestly, am much better now!) I still struggle not to go to the shops on a spree when I am feeling a bit down - or if I do, I make sure it is a charity shop where there is less chance of me spending so much (never works though!)
GreyQueen, great advice, by the time you've done all that you'll be too tired to spend money!
Lumpymoo, I could have written your post (even down to the age)!
GreenT and SammyKaye, thank you for the encouragement, am definitely going to go along (providing they are not over-subscribed).
Right, halfway through catching up, take a breath and continue.0 -
I understand your worries about your emplyment future......but I have realised the hard way that women often lose out in the job market when their children no longer need them so much. A gap of 2-3 years is just too long.
Byatt & mumto2monkeys - I feel for both of you on lots of levels, but probably understand these fears best as I share them with you (although it is my health & not caring for others in my situation). It seems so unfair for you both to have to consider this on top of everything else but Byatt is right. I have lots of time on my hands, but haven't been as disciplined as I'd like with retraining - my this is a New Year, so I'm allowed a New Start at it, right?I know that the more carbs I eat the more knackered I get, but still do it anyway:o, normally in the form of chocolate:o:o and more chocolate:o:o:o.
Kale is an excellent ingredient for any low carb diet, along with sprouts and cabbage :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I'm with you on this - I did about 2 weeks of Atkins years ago (for a wedding I think) & it worked, but what suprised me the most was how much energy I had - it was scary! I don't think I've ever felt so energetic, but I didn't want to carry on with it as there was some debate about it not beeing too good for the kidneys long term, & I really don't like eating much meat. I have noticed a difference in how I "feel" depending on what carbs I've eaten (or not). I shall make an effort to cut down on carbs (shouldn't be too hard for me :rotfl:) & see how I get on.
Not sure about sprouts though.
Lizzyb1812 - did chuckle at your dog story, sorry. I have seen a few ladies knocked flying by their dogs over the years & even though it looks hilarious (sure I'll get something back in return for laughing :rotfl:) they've never been badly injured thankfully. Even saw one lady knocked backwards into a lake after standing on the end of a fishing pier, eating an ice cream - waist depth luckily, but not sure if she knew that as she was heading into the water. The dog owners were mortifiedas their dog was a swine for eating everything!
I managed to dodge the showers & went for a quick walk, but didn't go far as it was soooo windy. It sounds bad up North again, so I hope you are all alright up there. I didn't get to walk yesterday as by the time I'd got dressed to go out the darn rain had come back! Think I got my exercise by getting changed 3 times from fleece PJs (no heating needed when these are on) to walking clothes during the afternoon before giving up. Glad nobody was watching me....
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -

Things are on the up. Good luck like that comes in threes. I AM NOT counting the Primark bargain. No, I am not. Put a fiver on something. It's going to come in. It's going to come in. It's going to come in. I know it will.
Happy birthday Kimsmum! Tralalala lala. Tralalala lala.0 -
What about the bad breath with Atkins though? Also, I have heard people say they didn't have any energy when on it. I have to admit I am confused by all the different advise and changes of opinion on diets over the years. I have to do something as my weight has crept up and up and up and it is now time to lose it or buy a new wardrobe and that isn't very MSE is it? But first of all I have to finish the goodies that are still around from Christmas as it wouldn't be MSE to get rid of them either. I am trying to decide how to manage a diet while trying to save money. Carbs are cheaper than protein and I have loads of pasta and rice stored up and half a sack of spuds. But I really want this to be effective. The weight went on after I started on HRT and I know will be hard to lose. Also, I wanted to spend as little as possible this month. Oh well, can't have it all ways and with what some of you are facing, it is hardly of any importance.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! KIM'SMUM
