What a lovely post :A I really feel for your friend. I have known people who have taken their own lives and its just so awful for the family and close friends, who all blame themselves and suffer dreadful guilt. U are a good friend to know what she is going thru and be there for her. Hope she finds some peace xxx
Tbh, Frugal, I can't really imagine what she and her family are going through. I can only try to be there for her, but she's hundreds of miles away (dawn souf), so I feel so inadequate.
Never mind. Enough of the doomy and gloom for now. It's just obviously with reflecting on 2011 and looking forward to 2012, it's very much on my mind.
Am determined to go into New Year with a smile though, so I have a joke for you all, coutesy of the panto the other day. Now bear with me...I'm carp at jokes, but here goes.....
What's green and goes backwards?
SNIFF!

You might not 'know' exactly what she is going thru, but the fact you do know how hard it is, and you want to be there for her makes you a good friend.

I know a dafter one than that, lavenderbees, which I learned at primary school, back in the Jurassic Era;
If you see a bunny
With it's nose all red and runny
Do not think it's funny
Cos it's s'not.Sorry; I'm stuffed full of cold and can't take a medicinal sherbert on account of the vertigo medications, so have to make my own entertainment.:rotfl:There are times when being a bit cracked has it's uses.
Oh, groan...is there a groan smilie??
Aye, sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly. A grot way to spend NYE. Mind yo, you could probably demo both the jokes VERY well
I LOVE jokes that make me groan.... so here's one to hopefully make your cheeks ache for the right reasons...moving down the body now...
Yorkshire bloke with a sore bum asks chemist "Nah then lad, does tha sell ar5e cream?"
Chemist replies "Aye, mate, magnum or cornetto?"
Well, I like it :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Well, here's my favourite from this years (very cheap) crackers...keeping off body parts for a change.....and then I'll stop irritating you for tonight...does anyone else think the TV is REALLY bad tonight?? Even the wine isn't blunting the direness (is that a word?) of it.
Did you hear about the 2 ships that collided at sea? One was carrying red paint and the other was carrying blue paint.
All the sailors ended up marooned.Bum! Bum!
Oops, back on body parts again.
Feel free to jump in and shut me up anybody.... :rotfl:0 -
TV is total !!!!! tonight. The DDs are still up :eek: and are watching a smurf episode that I recorded on Sky+!
Boring, rubbish TV! Disgusting really. Am seriously thinking of giving up on Sky this year.0 -
I lost my Dad too
Its definately a life changing event isn't it. Well done you on the PhD :T Not sure if your Dad was around for that but bet he would be soooooooooooo proud :A
When my dad was in hospital during his last week one of his main worries was that he was stopping me writing up my thesis:o So I was sooooo chuffed when I managed to hand it in exactly three months after he died, one month earlier than my deadline!
And on a lighter note: what's red and sits in a corner:
A naughty bus :rotfl:
Agreed about the carp TV frugal. At the moment OH and I are both tapping away on laptops and my mum is sitting doing some tapestry. Roll on 11pm when it's Brain of Britain on R40
