I see people buy cheap cream and turn it into butter, do you just chuck it in the mixer until it thickens? and does it have to be double cream??
Sorry to question and run buy I have Aunty C here and I don't wish to be rude

Yes it has to be double cream. I've never done it in a mixer, I put it in a screw-top jar and shake it. Has the added bonus of being a bit of exercise! You'll know when it's done because it suddenly comes together in a lump and the liquid separates off.0 -
Just wrote out a whole long post about how negative I'm feeling thinking about the awful year we have just had. Just all the memories of disappointment, sadness and frustrations all coming back.
I'm not at all jovial that the new start is about to begin. I deleted it all, no one wants to read that and I need to chipper up somehow! (telly is rubbish, that doesn't help a t-total stoppie-at-home)
So thinking forawrd. DH and I spoke this afternoon about holidays this year. We're going to do the Sun £9.50 hols for a break and get out tent out (please no mice have eaten through it or the duct tape will be out!) The biggy is that next Christmas we want to go away to the lakes in a cottage so we will save as much as we can for that! I am going to be better at quidco and will do surveys to try to save a bit extra. We just feel that Christmas was so rubbish this year because of the people around us and we will not put our happy little family through it again.
I managed to pick up a pudding dish in Lakeland sale today and a charity shop wrap dress that I adoreWe have been out with the dog walking and then to the park with the children on their bikes. We're definitely going to the forest in the summer armed with our picnic, fishing nets, bats and balls and bikes. A bit petrol and car park charges and all that fun!
There, happier. Thank goodness there's this thread because until I wrote that above I was quiet a sullen miserable so-and-so!0 -

only ever used double cream so I would think so. You whip i in the mixer until you get butter (you'll see it) the water is then drained away or I think you can mix the water in soda bread or something like that. It was ages ago since I did it. Tasty mind you , just found it expensive because you don't get as much butter (imo) as what you get when buying it.0 -

Oh lord, the cat is missing.
I've tried 3 times, the last one just minutes ago...up that awful lane, pitch black out in the middle of nowhere and a torch that isn't as bright as it needs to be. The cat is called after the baby who was born in a manger...so there am I...calling, J.... J....(don't want this coming up on Goog!e)...he's a gorgeous cat and I'm worried now. Both pooch and I are exhausted. It's raining, windy and the road is more pothole than road. Off to look for really, really bright torches!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I can just imagine what I would think if one of the neighbours was out in the garden at christmas time shouting "J....J....J" :rotfl: Thanks for the giggle :beer:LAST DAY OF 2011!!! How was it for you?? What are you looking for in 2012? Will it get tougher or easier ??
I am certain that 2012 will not be worse for me than 2011 was. Losing my Dad in summer was amongst the awful things that happened this year - 2 other events happened around the same time adding to my grief and horrors. I am so glad to kick 2011 up the arris and move forward to a new year. yes it will probably be financially difficult but I can live with that as long as I don't have awful things happen like this year!!!7_week_wonder wrote: »2011 was an odd one - the two big events were that I lost my father and gained a PhD: hmmmm.
As for 2012, well the big decision is do I stick with my new subject, which I love, but it is very uncertain whether I can get a job and pretty poorly paid if I do, or do I try and get back into something like where I was before. Well paid, jobs available, but can be stressful and not where my heart lies. Oh well, I can put off thinking about that until at least tomorrow, in the mean time there is a crown of duck to be roasted.
Enjoy Hogmanay everyone.
I lost my Dad tooIts definately a life changing event isn't it. Well done you on the PhD :T Not sure if your Dad was around for that but bet he would be soooooooooooo proud :A
