There was a little pay rise for DH's job too we have found out today :) I'm so very proud of him, he showed what an asset he was even with the dyslexia frittering away in his head and losing him his concentration.

Fuddle Thats great news I am really pleased for you.:)

People ever cease to amaze me, I attended a meeting at DS school today which was a general meeting to discuss current LEA provision, I went to raise my concerns and was hoping that it would be documented somewhere and I was greeted by three sets of parents, one I had never met, all from DS class, all had come to support us and make their unhappiness with events known.

:T Bravo to them - what is the quote? All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

I'm off out this evening for a curry, a wine and a chinwag at the local pub with a group of "mums". It is quite :money: as it's only a fiver for a curry with all the trimmings and a glass of merlot. I have to force myself out in the winter, as i really just want to hibernate. I'm ok in the daytime, but at night just want to shut the curtains and wait for it to be spring. One week to the shortest day though and the light will start to draw out again.

Just finished my last day for nearly 3 weeks - and i've no marking :T:j

Tomorrow i am going to finish the present shopping as kids finish at 1 on Friday so i won't have much chance after. It's my birthday on Sunday so I've persuaded the family to have a day out in the peaks and Sunday lunch in a country pub. My last 2 birthdays have been a bit pants, so i'm really looking forward to a family day out - as long as i'm home before dark :rotfl:

I was stunned, I needed to say very little as they said it all, from the parent complaining at how upset he was when his son cried that my DS had been locked in a room alone all afternoon, to the parent who were there yesterday when I witnessed the events on the yard. We then went off for coffee together and have agreed that united we will stand and that its obvious teacher has been attempting to divide and conquer. We are now going to meet regularly to keep upto date with current happenings - and have swapped numbers to keep in touch :)

This brought tears to my eyes; what a lovely thing to do. And very, very powerful. I am so glad you had that support. :T:A

kidcat - that must have restored your faith in human nature - it certainly has mine. DS has your support which not all kids have when faced with bullying (I speak from experience) and now you have much deserved peer support too. Good luck going forward with this.

That's great news Kidcat. There's definitely strength in numbers. No wonder the teacher has gone off sick, it's probably guilt.

I'm ever so sorry for subjecting your hubby to a mountain of biccies, which he had to consume Prepareathome :rotfl:. Glad you liked them. Try them with lemon curd next time....

I guess I shouldn't post the recipes for vanilla walnut fudge or peanut butter balls then? I've cleared a bit of room in the freezer so am thinking to put a few of those in.

In all seriousness, I think my grocery budget helps me get goodies put away and in the freezer, since it's pretty tight and if we eat them all now that's it. I was reading another thread where people had eaten things they'd bought for Christmas and though I've been sorely tempted by the few bits in my cupboard, I look forward to Christmas too much to go there.

I posted a while back about being worried I had no extra money for Christmas. The issue was resolved by hubby buying me a trip to the butchers as part of my Christmas pressie (for nice English sausages and such) and by having meals such as beans on toast, soup, cheap curries for dinners.

Soon we're having tripe (italian style). Last night we had kidneys (stroganoff), the night before we had lentil curry. Having seen how I can knock a few dollars off the grocery budget, I'm going to make this a focus next year and see if I can't get some savings put by.

please do feel free to post am sure some poor soul on here will be so grateful, not quite sure who but someone will want to try them.:rotfl:

I think when ( fingers crossed) we come over for sons wedding in March 2014 I will be knocking on every door in Australia to find your house - mind you I should be able to point my nose at the wonderful smell of baking and follow it to find you.

I have thrown a yoghart and lemon cake in bread machine, my first cake in there, so looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

This is what I love about having plenty of stores in, you see a recipe and can just go and make it, if I say oh must get this or that to make such and such I never seem to get round to doing so.

My washing machine and tumble dryer are getting a work out as was going to do everything at weekend but as weather been kind to us so far thought better get it all done sooner rather than take the chance it will continue as lights have flickered a few times. So beds, including dogs all stripped and clothes in tumble dryer, dogs quilt washed ready to go in when they are finished and bedding in washer now, the will do dogs padded matteress - just a thick washable quilted type thing in oval shapes, we bought two for old bed to keep them comfortable, with the new bed they don't exactly need them but they are used to them. Am very lucky as they do not chew their bedding, actually not chewers at all except food not even chewy toys. So we splurged on them in the summer on a ahem rather nice bed with a nice price and gave their old one which was still perfectly fine to a dog rescue. So that should see them through old age in comfort - think its more comfortable than our beds but all three can lay out fully in it if they want, although youngest does share my bed but will occasionally join them as if to remind them she is still a dog and entitled to share anything of theirs.:rotfl:
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

If you're on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland somewhere I'll invite you round for cake. I'll bake it nearer the time.... :rotfl:

  • Afternoon has turned out to be much more productive than this morning so feeling much happier now :)

Have managed to make 3 different batches of soup, 4 jars of lemon curd and a thrown together passion fruit and orange cake... just trying to convince DH the cake hasn't worked and that he really should just leave it for me to deal with tomorrow!! ;)

    Evening guys

kidcat-so sorry things with school crap, its awful.
Blooming hate bullying but sadly think it exists every school.
I was bullied a few times in comp and teachers did nothing.

My stepson 13 is in special education unit right now im nervous about him returning to mainstream but unsure the units been good for him either as seems to be dumping ground for kids with behavioural problems.
I know someone whos eldest has downs and she chose to pull her from mainstream and send her to special school honestly dont know whats best option.

Been to see santa at mall tonight.
    girls loved it.
Although eldest age 5 said hes not real santa wasent sure if she means hes not the real one or she doesnt belive.

Im gutted if thats the case? where she hear that flipping school?

welcome some ideas how to get her to believe

thought about fake snowey footprints with icing sugar?

she keeps moaning we have no outdoor lights?
hubby keeps saying we poor, I tell her landlord wont allow it.
still baffled how they power them? is it battery?
some houses gone ott this year.
we like to walk round and see them all cheap thrills.

Must stop watching xmas tv progrmmes so much want to make but so little time.
Think going to be another flat out gailey xmas trying to do it all
really will be better organised next year.

got eldest mate coming over for tea tommorow
home hairdresser coming to do roots
    need to do some housework
    need to some foodshopping.

doing dreaded foodshop next week so need to do list.

hubby descraped ice off freezer and found few hidden stuff looks lot less minus the ice.

watcher superscrimpers c4 they made blackberry liquor.
wondered would it be ok to substitute with plums?

hubbys not off until monday so need to spend next 4days getting the house straight.
    making lists.

still have to do some shopping for kids
    making most of adult presents

then theres all the wrapping to do!

Gailey out door lights are mains electric. You need either to have a specially fitted outdoor light socket, or make some sort of hole to feed the cable in ('spose you could trail it through a window? But who'd want to do that in December?) I did buy some to put on the pots either side of the front door this year, OH made a small hole in the door frame that the little plug that goes into the transformer goes through, but the controls, which are supposed to be inside, are outside, but we've sealed them in a plastic box.

Regarding the blackberry liquer, not sure plums would work quite the same way...if you make sloe gin or vodka, which are tiny plums after all, you need to either stab them all over with a darning needle, or much easier, freeze them first before adding them cold to the booze and sugar. They then need a long soak for the flavour and colour to go into the alcohol.

I made blackberry whiskey earlier in the year, the berries weren't cooked, but have been soaking in the whiskey since September. I think you'd probably get a bit of a different flavour if you cooked them in a microwave first.

Either way I think you need to do it much earlier in the year...like when blackberries are in season! LOL!
