These are just to tide you over until next week. Personally I've just put a jam roly poly (with real suet) in the oven to tide me over, but am doing the serious baking next week....

Now, most of you know how much baking I do weekly, so when I say serious baking, I mean serious baking :rotfl: Mince pies, fruit mincemeat drops, biscotti, spiced biccies, Christmas cupcakes...

Oh, and sweeties next week.... walnut meringues, peppermint creams, vanilla walnut fudge, peanut butter balls, honeycomb, rocky road....

    Ahem :o

They're mostly not for me (other than what I eat whilst packaging), but these are most of what I give as gifts.

Good luck with the headteacher Kidcat, fingers are crossed here.

You're going to have to keep quiet. Every time you post my rear end grows about two inches. (Have copied the recipes, thanks.)

From now until Christmas I'm going to hoover up all the forbidden food I can find/make, and then afterwards I'm relying on you to provide slimming recipes with the same wow factor.

Not so bad here now, died down a lot, just occasional gust but is raw and cold. The RV got home ok wmf - he said the roofs in Albert St were thumping and banging, and stuff blowing around in Easter Road so he was glad to get out of there. So cold even in here today, canny be a$$sed going through to the kitchen to do anything.

In many ways it will help you being a governor of the school. They know they will have to take anything seriously. Do your research about what schools should be doing when an incident or situation surrounding a child getting bullied occurs and what the procedures are for complaint when you feel like your concerns or your little ones concerns are not being listened to.

I was once very forcefully told I had no reason for complaint when my little girl was pushed to the ground and panicked because she couldn't breathe as the little boy had his hands round her neck. Their first line was "well did she tell the dinner lady" Yes, she was told to go tell him to not do it again. "Ok, so it has been dealt with" No it has not been dealt with as I feel my child was just fobbed off. "We have a policy here where we allow the children to rough play and try not to get involved in just games" This got my goat - Excuse me (stress levels rising) my little girl, through no fault of her own, who wasn't playing any rough game, was pushed to the ground and had another child put his hands round her neck. She was worried as she felt she couldn't breathe. In any other situation that kind of behaviour would have resulted in a police presence. This is not appropriate behaviour for a school yard and if my concerns in this are not taken seriously I shall contact the local authority, Ofsted and the Police if I have to. "I can see you're worked up by this, I'll have a word with the dinner ladies and a word with the boy involved" I'm not worked up, I feel like you're not listening to my complaint of a serious incident that has put the safety of my child into jeopardy. "Yes, yes, it does appear to be a concerning incident, leave it with me and I'll see that the boy is spoken to about his behaviour and the dinner ladies are made aware that this kind of behaviour is going on".

This wasn't bullying and it's never happened again but it goes to show that 1) schools don't like to admit they've missed something, or even admit that there is a behaviour problem in their school and 2) have a canny knack of making parents feel like neurotic fools at best and very much below them at worst.

I hate complaining, I get worked up and very nervous but that day I had had enough of being fobbed off and from somewhere I found my fight side. An unprovoked strangle incident not high jinx and if that boy thinks that that kind of behaviour is acceptable because he's never told otherwise, the next time he might just grab harder and for longer.

Fuddle - what happens in schools is so scary and the tendency to hide from parents I find worrying.

Having spoken to head this morning I am still unhappy - she still dismisses it as rough play, but I have got her agreement to meet - when DS teacher returns (apparently she has now gone off sick!!).
