Congratulations Mr Fuddle  and no apologies needed. It's nice to be part of somewhere that troubles can be halved and successes multiplied
Welcome skintmum - it's lovely here
Paidinchickens - What a wonderful idea - I'm sure your littlies would love some chooks to care for, and they will be so excited to go each morning to see how many eggs they can find. I second rehoming some battery girls - a friend has half a dozen and although they looked very sad and patchy when they arrived, they've all bloomed into gorgeous girls with her love and care.
Mardatha - I hope your weather improves soon - it was very windy here last night but nowhere near what you're having up there. Hugs to the chickies.
Using up my holiday, so Thursday will be my last day until 4th January (apart from the Christmas party). Have been so busy making cards for my Mum and friends that I realised today I haven't done any for me to send, so need some inspiration toot sweet!
My great uncle is in hospital at the moment with a very bad chest (on 90% oxygen apparently ) and he let slip to M&D that his flat is in a very bad state with lots of clutter from the caravan he gave up this year and he still has washing from October lurking about. I am planning to get him to let us have the keys so we can go and give it a good going over for him as it won't be any good for him to come home to that. Also to see whether he can put in to be transferred to either a ground floor or warden-assisted property (he's in one of the Peabody Trust places). Will also give me a chance to sway Mummy over to my Stardrops way of life :rotfl:
I too got one of the wake up lamps in Lidl yesterday, but haven't set it up yet. Has anyone given theirs a whirl yet?0 -
I hang my head in shame taurusb been so caught up in myself never said am keeping everything crossed that you will be in and out of hospital very quickly with everything going well.
Its just hubby and me this year on Christmas Day - usually go to daughters but decided not to this year. We plan to have a drink this year as we have a bottle of rather expensive champagne we bought to toast son and fianc!e when they came over for a vist in Sept/Oct from Australia , they came via South Africa where they attended a wedding and went on safari where son asked then girlfriend if she would marry him and they said yes, then they both phoned their parents:) They didn't fancy the champagne as they had drank quite a lot while in South Africa , and just wanted cups of tea, so bottle wasn't opened so we will maybe open it on Christmas Day or maybe toast the New Year with it. We are not drinkers so we are wondering should we open it just for a glass each or should we leave it - maybe we should try that positiveness, keep the bottle for that great celebration we 'know' will come out way soon like winning the lottery ( of course you have to buy a ticket for that so maybe not). Maybe I should sell it, should have been £95 but was on offer, a few were on offer some cheaper some dearer but this one sounded as if it would taste the nicest. I know nothing about any alcohol, as just always could take it or leave it. I bought a couple of bottles of non alcoholic red wine to make mulled wine for Christmas and Boxing Day when friends come and none of them are drinkers either. It was on special 2 for £5 at SM.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I'm at over 900ft up and we get a lot of bad weather, been here 30 years. This is the worst storm I've ever been in and usually I enjoy Nature to the full but I'm seriously not liking this one at all!!

I think the white bulb has gone on mine, as everything else seems to work, including mood lighting but reading lamp won't come on and although alarm worked ok this morning, no light came on. So have to see what kind of bulb and change it and if it still doesn't work have to take it back.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Oooh, best give mine a go then, just in case. Thanks for the heads up.0 -

Right, just set mine up and had the same problem, but I've solved it! Swivel the dome bit until it comes off - my bulb was all wrapped up in there, but not screwed in. Popped it in and it's working fine now. The coloured lights must be separate LEDs as mine worked before I did that too. Hope that solves the problem.0 -
Lidl wake up light, I found out why the reading light didn't come on, took shade off and found the bulb was all packed in polystyrene to keep it safe and not fitted in, unpacked it and put it in and working fine. We bought one as present for son and checked it was packed the same and works fine.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
