Can you all remember that job that DH went for early last week? We have just found out he got it!!! The area manager has been on holiday so that's why the delay. We just thought he didn't get it!

It won't mean much in a pay rise but what it does mean is that DH gets a van and petrol paid for. No more worrying about the up keep of our car to get him to work and this is the best bit..... no more £200+ each month on petrol!

I can drive but won't be using it much at all, as i'm stingy with the petrol and I have done without it for 2 years now. It will make my life easier knowing it is there though. I'm so excited and so relieved. We now have a little cushion and that cushion will help me sleep that bit easier. I can pay off my gas arrears soon! :D

Oh Fuddle - what a great early Christmas present :j Well done to DH :T

The wind is howling here too Mardatha, terrifying:( and it doesn't usually bother me. I just looked out of the upstairs window, and the 'white horses' at sea are bigger than I've seen them since we moved here, and the roof is actually creaking  We had brief gusts of heavy rain in the night, and the garden is flooded.

OK so the Euro is going to collapse for Xmas? What do we do? Cause a run on the banks and hide our pennies under the floorboards, or invest it hard liquor and sweeties?

I tried to seriously ask the menfolk whether they thought we should worry and do/stock up on anything OH just blinked, and DS prosaic as ever said guns and ammo ;)

I am getting worried about the wind up here - is even worse than last weeks, and is hitting the house dead on. The noise is hellish and its so fierce.

Hope that you don't lose your electricity.
Go to the opposite side of the house from where the wind is hitting. Watch television or else turn on a radio (or some portable entertainment if the electric goes down) and keep busy. It will help take the edge off your fear.
    It's stormy here too.

    Congratulations fuddle. :)

Mardatha - take care. Maybe we should club together and buy some wind turbines for your back garden, bet we could make a fortune selling the energy!! :)

It's lovely to hear some good news about personal finances for a change. I'm so glad for you. Hope that DH enjoys the new job.

    great news fuddle! :T

Take care all of you in the high winds; we have snow here, first of the year, but the ground is so wet its just melting away atm. I'm just relieved that we're halfway through december and so the winter won't seem as long as last year; even if we have snow in march at least the longer days will make it more bearable
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I'm so glad things are working out for you Fuddle.

MardyArthur - sorry you're getting scared. Don't know what to suggest though.

I worry about our chimney stack.
