my hair is standing on end reading about all the horrible bullying. Sending warm wishes and hugs to those who need it
I'm just waiting in for the royal mail delivery van to deliver xmas pressie from amazon, its good that you can see on tracking history that its out for delivery but my dog doesnt understand why she cant go for a walk yet!
I have done everything for xmas I think, just waiting for the turkeys to come out which is the 18th or 19th I think. I'm keeping things minimal this year as I am feeling the pinch with food price rises, we lucky too as we have jobs, really feel for those who have lost their jobs at this time of year too
Suns shining here anyway even though its cold. I have finished the scarf I was knitting hubby and knit him a tank top too which I have wrapped up, got the wool cheap off ebay. I have pulled out a chunky jumper that he never wore and going to knit a hooded cardi which should be nice for wearing round the house.
Hope everyone is keeping warm and safeSave £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I have just had my day made :T The rag and bone man came and took my old TV which neither I nor OH could carry to the car. The sound was going on it or I would have freecycled it so we were stuck with the damn thing, it had got to the point where I was going to cover it with a cloth and call it a table
So now I can actually get organised in the living room :j
OOh biccies, they sound good - more to add to our arsenal of 'better than shop bought ' recipes me thinks. Right off for a :coffee: and then put up my :xmastree:Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Ginnyknit - our big TV went on fire in the last house, I used a fire blanket to put it out and my dad and struggled to get it out the door onto garden, OH was waiting for help to get it into car for tip and it ended up being outside for two weeks, it rained, hailed and all sorts on it. Then one day we went out and found it had been stolen while we were out. I was so relieved it was gone as I had been considering trying to disguise it somehow.:)0

Oooooh, Softstuff - what yummy recipes -in the words of the bard "get thee behind me Satan!". Actually, scrub that, I give in, I can resist anything but temptation.
I'm going to have to try those mincemeat ones, purely for the sake of research you understand:D.
It's a beautiful, clear day here today but bloomin' freeezing. No chance of any washing going outside, it would be stiff as a board in minutes.
Having had a splurge or two at the weekend, I intend topping up my OS-ness today by having a baking session. I need to make some bread for the freezer and a cake (or two) and no doubt some cookies will find their way on to the menu.
Now I am retired, we needed to have a fairly frugal Christmas this year so I've made quite a few of our Christmas pressies. I've always done some HM stuff for peeps, jam, chutneys etc, as extra gifts but this year have extended it to the main pressies as well, as far as I can. I have really enjoyed doing it, it's amazing what you can do when you have just that bit extra time available. I just need to finish the bag I'm making for my DD and then I think I'm finished.
I wonder what Santa is bringing me? I've been dropping hints about a staple gun but don't think my DH believes me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
Right, must get myself moving. Have a good day all.0 -
Think going to write this morning off and go back to bed ... seems to be turning into one of those days!
Had a row with DH last night over something really stupid and as neither of us really like to go to bed on an argument it was gone 2am before we'd sorted things outeverything seems to be back to normal, just seem to be a bit fragle at the moment and don't cope with things too well when they go wrong.
Doctor is wanting me to try and go back to work next week if the latest round of pills do the trick. Feeling a bit nervous about it; if I can't cope with DH when things go wrong I'm not sure how I'll manage with an office full of people
Got up early for someone coming to collect cd player I'd put on freecycle only for them not to show up  really annoyed, it's the third time it's happened in the last week or so with bits I've offered and I'm beginning to wonder why I bother. Thinking might take it to the charity shop, but that might have to wait until the wind has settled down and bit and it's stopped snowing!!
Think it might be time for a little power nap and then an afternoon of baking and soup making:j

Any word on how far north tomorrows weather is going to go yet - sounded as if it was heading across more southern parts of England from what I heard but they admit they didn't know this morning.0 -
Looked on the bbc and the met office says it could go a few ways but if option 1 goes ahead the north , north east, midlands are going to be hit, or option 2 the lower southern coast. they think more than likely option will come through.
All i know is its windy and freezing now where i am in the north east.Had to literally catch my seven year old yesterday as the wind was so strong he was blown up in to the air! :eek:0 -
I'm not to blame for the size of anybodies...er...assets.
Gawd, if OS'ers all take to my cookies the cholesterol level of Britain will soar and they'll put a tax on me
Healthy recipes start mid January. Following eating all the reduced Christmas goodies post Christmas.
Trust me - what is following my person around does not appear to be an asset.0 -
Grrr, these bullying stories make me :mad::mad:
My eldest is a really tall lad and has been head and shoulders taller then the others in his class since he started. He's got such a soft nature at school that people target him and he doesn't retaliate. He's had all sorts of crap from certain kids, he's been smacked around the face, hit, kicked etc. He's under strict instructions now that if anyone hits him then he is to smack them back. Their hippy teacher taught the kids to stand up to bullies by saying, "pease don't do that, I don't like it". I don't know what planet it's on but it's not this one! Incidentally, the bullies in questions are kids whose parents tell their kids to f off and shut the f up etc. No matter how much their behaviour is addressed with the parents, they don't care. Awful. DS hasn't had to hit anyone back yet but the time will come.
My thoughts go out to the people whose kids are being bullied, it's hard to know how to help them sometimes.0 -

The battery hen welfare trust have been in touch with me this week, they are desperate for homes for Chooks as legislation changes in the New Year so (I think) battery hens will be no more, they have to use a new system. Just have a look on their website and see if any of the rehomers are near you and you will get lovely hens who lay lots of eggs and you will be helping with a big problem too.[/QUOTE]
Thanks for that I have one not too far away I just need them to answer the phone (not the chicks obviously :rotfl:)
