Mrs Chip - how about watercress?

Had a phone call earlier just as I was about to take the dogs out for a paddle. I have a job interview on Thursday :j:j! It's for a healthcare assistant, 20 hours a week, mornings, and the postholder will be trained to give health advice, take blood and, erm, deal with other samples ... It sounds really interesting and the postholder will also be supported to get an NVQ3. It would be absolutely perfect for me as I could combine it with a bit of notetaking in the afternoons to make up the shortfall. I'd be able to give the dogs a little walk before work and walk them properly at lunchtime. And I'd be dealing with different people every day so I wouldn't get bored. I was the first shortlisted person they phoned so I was given the pick of the interview slots, so I chose the last one so that I would be fresh in their minds. So fingers crossed. I am going to search the web for possible interview questions.

No doubt on Wednesday evening I will be a gibbering wreck and posting on here for a kick up the backside!

Oh congratulations! Brilliant, well done you!

I've worked in Career Coaching for the last few years, and most interviews seem to use evidence based questions these days, such as "tell me about a time you worked in a team" or "tell us about a time you identified a problem and what did you do about it". I usually have a few scenarios of things I'm proud of up my sleeve ready to roll out. Don't be afraid of taking a moment to think about the question before you answer it. And have a couple of questions to ask them - they'll be impressed that you've thought about it.

I wish I could take my own advice - I still brick myself at the thought of an interview! You're obviously enthusiastic about the role, and they will be able to see that, which is 90% of the battle!

    Lots of luck! xxx

Thanks everyone well boiler man has been and we now have hot water again - he was very, very cagey told me it had switched off at first , that i knew but when you switched it on, it switched off again straight away, So when he saw that he actually looked and started to fiddle with pipes underneath and then took the whole vent out and fidded with it and replaced it, when I asked what it was I just got a shoulder shrug and oh one of those things, although he did ask for the service book and wanted to know when it was serviced and did they do anything to it - so gave that to him, was serviced in april and they added something to the vent...........my thoughts whatever was added to vent had not been fixed into place properly and all this bad wind and rain has caused vent to block up and so as we were told when it was installed any reduction in airflow via vent it will not go on and that is what happened today ( only I forgot that earlier)............aw well it is fixed I hope.

I am so tired - granddaughter had said earlier you go for a sleep grandma as she knows I was up all night - but not why - and told me I look tired, but then with boiler going off that scuppered a doze so now hubby is home and leaving him to sort his own pizza and granddaughters ( I always leave him to do his pizza as he likes it just so and must cook in right place in oven, this from man who never cooks anything except his pizza or something for a tin in microwave if I do not have anything for him on a bad day, so I let him do it his way and no arguments.........

Can they take responsibility for their actions and reflect on what happened?

There's a few people in politics and recent news stories about the banks who should be answering those questions RAS:p

I think a lot of the pressure and worry when going after a job isn't whether you get the job or not it's if you don't all the jumping through hoops again and satisfying those who decide if you are doing enough to find work not allowing for the fact so many are going after each vacancy and how long can you keep applying to same companies especially as many are not recruiting, they will see an application from someone they've seen in an interview or had a CV from before, how many companies are near enough to the area you live and can you live on what they are paying?

Not forgetting quite often you are at a disadvantage if you have to depend on public transport(reliability and cost)And as for Taxis.

Then if on part time wages...will they top up what you are paid so you are still no worse off...It's not easy, if you are in work or out of it.

Having said that, I really wish you well Smiley and am thinking of you and hope it's good news after the interview, especially as it seems a job you would quite enjoy doing and will fit in with your life rather than the other way around. It should also go in your favour when you prove ti the JC what you are doing to try and find work.

And remember you got the interview from your own work. is this the one you applied for and were worried you'd be too late?

    Too true Pops.

I am told that employers pretty much forget previous applicants after 3 months.

Certainly we have someone here now who was the second choice when the same job was advertised about 18 months previously. It was only after she was appointed that the connection was made even though one of the people interviewing had been involved in both sets.

    Morning All,
Weather as bad as ever, quite frightening really. Hope that you are all safe.

Well it was nice to wake up to a good rain this morning, and it rained til lunch then weve had blue skies and sunshine since then, so its real good growing weather, my water are now full...:T:T....

I feel quite a bit better right now, been having probs with hubby, poor chap, he as been going downhill for past 8 months ,depression, tiredness, not well at all so I took him to GP and once again he changed his meds for epilepsy and anti d s.........

Still not right after 2 wks so I phoned gp again and said I would like you to refer back to neuro dr he as a appoinment for September but thats a long way off when things arnt right, so he agreed and dr has spent last 2 wks trying to get through to neuro dr without success.......:mad:

Cut very long story short I got in touch with PALS at the hospital and explasined the siruation and within 3 hours neuro dr had telephoned our gp and he decided to change tabs etc etc, long story cut again, neuro said he wanted to see hubby in 4 weeks, that was ages ago but ive received no app letter:mad::mad:, so I phoned PALS again and I actually heard back from her to say she has spoken to neuro dr and he will immediately sort him a appoinment and we should receive it next week and how sorry he is not getting back to us because of this that etc etc, I can only hope we do........

Im not after preferential treatment, but I know the poor man is ill with his head due to the stroke..........I do hope he do sort appoinment out for him........I know that if I didnt do all these telephone calls we wouldnt hear from the hospital.........

I do really feel for all the NHS hospitals with all their funding problems, but we cant help it if we have sick people needing to see a consultant/doctor.......

So I do feel better than I did knowing that we will probaly get seen to ............I was getting quite down thinking "what else can I do",its makes you feel quite alone when your on your own and just a telephone that wont ring, but it has so onwards and upwards I hope.............

Im so glad the sun is shining it dont half help lift me, I know a lot of people on the news are having it pretty bad with too much rain, must be terrible to have your home flooded out............

My grass need a cut which I will try to get out and do over the weekend, pond needs a de blanket weeding too:eek:.....Got loads of frogs, newts, and water creatures in the pond, had a sick great tit in the garden for past 3 weeks its got avian pox poor little man, wish I could somehow catch it cos it will spread the disease on the feeders..........I took photo of him with a huge lump on his head and sent it to BTO and they confirmed avian pox..........
Hope you all have a good weekend whatever your up to........

Good luck with your job hunting, Smileyt.

RAS, last time I was loose on the job market, I applied for one job via email, as per their specified instructions. Didn't hear back so left it a while then emailed again.

Got an email back saying, ohhh, sorry we gave the job to someone else, an internal candidate.

Fine, thought I, and would it have killed you to spend 2 mins emailing me to tell me so?! But I got over it and fell off my chair laughing a few weeks later when they emailed out of the blue to say, er, their choice hadn't worked out and would I like the job?

Ooooh, was I tempted to be sarky but Provincial City is a smallish place and it doesn't pay to make enemies so I just sent them a very charming little repsonse to say thank you but it's too late as I've found a job elsewhere (true). And I wished them every success in finding a suitable candidate whilst thinking evilly Eat my dust, suckers!

:o Would it be appropriate to mention that there is clear blue sky and strong sunshine outside? :o

Awright, awright (ducking missiles from wet and disgruntled OS-ers). We'll get our share of the misery tomorrow, I'm sure.

Th video has a quick shot of water running down the street in Barnard Castle...the other story this company runs housing across a large part of the North East throughout Durham County...

I had no idea. What an absolutely ridiculous policy for livin to adopt. SBH were many things but at least they didn't behave in that manor. There's far too much red taping going on at the moment, fuelled by saving money, but what it's actually doing is prejudicing people.

Poor Barnard Castle. I saw on the news that £9 million worth of damaged was caused last week with the flooding, and that was just in Newcastle.

Don't know if you're on Twitter pops and everyone else on here in Durham but Northern Echo reporters are tweeting their updates on #echoweather
