Fuddle - that's a very good point! I shall try and keep it in mind when the guilt/worry starts up again!

It's been another awful wet day here, grey and cold, nothing like July.
PAH - hope the boiler man comes soon, have you checked it's not just fused? Our boiler has a 3-pin plug and that fused once.
I'm not sure that I done the right thing, but bought 10 15 ltr black builders buckets from Aldi yesterday. They were 99p each, and the cheapest way I have found to get big growing pots for next year. They might come in handy for bailing out if we get flooded, but at this rate I can't see them being used for growing :rotfl:.
Hope everyone is ok!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Mrs Chip I think that's sensible. The cheapest of plastic terracotta-esk pots are way more than that and not as big.
As for growing, I'm going to pass on commenting on that one as our garden is waterlogged in places at the moment.0 -

I have not idea what could be wrong as this is the first time its given me any problems since it was put in 3 years ago.
PAH if you don't have a manual for it google should help. You may find it just needs the system pressurising - on mine that's turn one tap on the bottom of the boiler, then turn the tap next to it, it will hiss and burble as water enters the system and you'll see the pressure gauge rise, on mine the recommended setting is about one bar. The manual for yours will detail what you need to do on yours, but it is very straight forward and simple.

Just got back from kitty duties; hit the road as the monsoon started, front door area was flooded as drain couldn't cope, the water from the fields was like a torrent on the A road with stones and bits of wood and other debris hurtling down it. Glad to be home, keep safe peoples.
edit, PAH, I have a copy of Nella Last's 50's so will pop in the post as a late birthday pressie. I am sure you will enjoy it; I love that woman!0 -
Mrs Chip - the buckets are a great idea, might head down to Aldi myself (possibly by boat...!). Rice/fish farming may also be an option for me soon. Horrible, horrible weather

I used to get the black flower buckets from Mr M , they were perfect and only 99p for 8 but as soon as I found out about them they stopped using them! These are stronger so hope they will last a long time. I'm not going to drill holes in them yet though, in case they need to be deployed as fish tanks !Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Mrs Chip - how about watercress?
Had a phone call earlier just as I was about to take the dogs out for a paddle. I have a job interview on Thursday :j:j! It's for a healthcare assistant, 20 hours a week, mornings, and the postholder will be trained to give health advice, take blood and, erm, deal with other samples ... It sounds really interesting and the postholder will also be supported to get an NVQ3. It would be absolutely perfect for me as I could combine it with a bit of notetaking in the afternoons to make up the shortfall. I'd be able to give the dogs a little walk before work and walk them properly at lunchtime. And I'd be dealing with different people every day so I wouldn't get bored. I was the first shortlisted person they phoned so I was given the pick of the interview slots, so I chose the last one so that I would be fresh in their minds. So fingers crossed. I am going to search the web for possible interview questions.
No doubt on Wednesday evening I will be a gibbering wreck and posting on here for a kick up the backside!Aspire not to have more but to be more.
