  • I haven't had a problem with the delivery before this occasion.
Argos has said they've delivered my package(s) and they haven't.
I purchased a couple of items online and paid for next day delivery. However, the next day came and nothing was delivered - I even left specific instructions where to leave it if there was no answer at the door.
There was someone at my house for most of the day and I live in a very safe and sheltered area, so unless this is some freak pillow stealing incident, Argos is lying to me.
I rang up and was told they split up my order into two packages and it was probably a mistake. They said to expect it the next day.
Again nothing was delivered and someone was in all day! I rang up today and they told me that they had both been delivered, and that the second package had been signed for! I told them that was impossible, so they've told me to ring back tomorrow so they can check with the delivery man.

I want my packages, but I'm not sure what I can do if they really insist that they were delivered. And if I can't get my items would I still be entitled to a refund?
    Thanks.

Ordered a gym on 12 March (large payment taken), received email advised I would be contacted by 24 March to arrange delivery. I called Argos on 24/25 March to be told it was to be delivered by 26 March. Called 26 March to find out what time it was coming to be told, it was never being delivered in the first place, ask for an urgent update, got a call on 27 March to say product out of stock - due Easter it has taken me 1 month from date payment taken to get my money back. Argos are quick to blame their supplier - I don't care I ordered it from Argos. What makes matters worse they are still selling the same gym for £37 more - scandalous!! Emailed Terry Duddy on 7 April, still awaiting even an acknowledgement, I will never order online from them ever again - they over promise and under deliver and have enjoyed earning interest on my money in the meantime!!!
As at 12 April I have a letter from Argos and a goodwill gesture, am happy with the outcome and I really do hope they learn from it!!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi
I placed an order for bedroom furniture (5 items) on 12th March to be delivered on 5th April. They rang me the day before (4 April) to inform me that the delivery could not happen as one item was out of stock. Delivery was rearranged for 20th April. They rang again on 16th April to say that they could not deliver on that day due to a different item being out of stock. I complained because I had paid for the items on 12th March and on 4th March they had all of the items except the dressing table but on 16th April they had the dressing table but not the wardrobe. I told them that this meant that they had given my wardrobe (that I had paid for and was initially in stock) to another customer. I asked to speak to a manager who somehow managed to sort the order to be delivered on the 20th April!! He somehow managed to find a wardrobe!

Anyway, the furniture was delivered on Saturday and I rang today to ask for a compensation payment. They are refunding me double the delivery charge and also sending me £50 in vouchers as compensation.
  • 1. Ordered a washing machine from this place and paid for delivery and fitting. When it got delivered the men couldn't fit it (without even taking the machine from it's packaging) I went into the shop to complain and they offered me £5 refund. After declining this insult, i contacted Trading Standards who eventually got my £25 back for me.
    2. I ordered a 3 seater and 2 seater sofa. The delivery men couldn't get the 3 seater in the lift and left it lying in the main foyer unattended. I live alone and had to phone a friend at 7.20am. My friend managed to get the 3 seater in the lift and into my home alone.
    3. I bought an internet hub from the shop, and when i got it home it wouldn't work. I took it back to the shop the next day, where the manageress refused to take it back as it was 'used'. I said it wasn't 'used' as it wouldn't work. I then asked if it was a faulty kettle would she take it back...she said yes..i said how would you know if the kettle was faulty, wouldn't you have to plug it in first....she said yes but that is different from a hub...i left the shop fuming and ended up throwing the hub in the bin
    4. I went in to 'buy and take home today' a new washing machine...went to pay for it and was asked for my details for delivery. I said i want to take it with me...he went and checked and said it didn't apply for that item. I was desperate for the machine and couldn't wait for delivery so went into the same shop that afternoon with a friend and i got my machine right there and then
    5. I ordered a Hob and built in oven. click buy item...delivery 5 days...when i purchased the items the delivery date was 24 days after i ordered it....2 days before the delivery they call and say the oven wont be delivered for another 22 days...yet going online and checking their web page, they have the same oven advertised at £20 cheaper than what i paid....still waiting for the oven and still waiting for a reply email from Argos.
I have really had it up to the back teeth with Argos with the inconvenience they have caused. They probably haven't replied to my email as i asked them if they will reimburse me for the take away meals i've had to buy

Normally thinks are not installed because the connections are not appropriate, but you do receive your money back if this is the case

If it cant go in the lift how do you expect the delivery drivers to deliver it to your flat, the dimensions are in the catalogue for you to check.

Did this not work or did it just not work for you (bad signal/your devices not compatible)? If it was the second one you wouldn't be entitled to a refund.

Perhaps you wrote the wrong catalogue number down the first time?

If you had asked them to get you a microwave they probably would have as a goodwill gesture, not sure if you mitigated your losses with the takeaway meals you had to buy?

Your best bet is to try another retailer.

I am absolutely amazed that you keep going back to the same place.
    Once bitten, etc, etc.

Oh, and do you have a consumer rights issue you would like help with?
  • cynicalscotsman:- if you read my comment re the sofa, my friend managed to get the sofa into the lift and into my home alone, so why couldn't 2 delivery men do it, as for the hub, I plugged it in, the light came on then went out and didn't come back on, I unplugged it left it for a while and tried again...the lights didn't come on again...I am 100%certain it was compatible as it was a BT hub which is I am sure is compatible with BT internet. I didn't write the wrong catalogue number down as I noted the number from the notice saying take home today, the salesman walked over to the notice that I took the number off (which was attached to the machine) and checked it, then said that model isn't available to take home yet I took it home that afternoon when I went back
wealdroam:- I agree with you...once bitten etc etc, I have used other retailers for new beds and other household items that got delivered the same day, but because argos is local and delivery was meant to be 5 days, and I was desperate for my new hob and oven (which is taking 2 months to deliver) for my new home, (I thought i'd give them benefit of the doubt) more fool me...I've learned through my mistakes and will never buy from argos again

I too have experience problems with Argos home delivery service, so much so that I have posted a blog about how the delivery drivers said they couldn't find my house yeah right!

For anyone who would like to comment on my blog post here's the link

  • Hi People new to site and wondering if anyone can help.

I ordered a television off Argos on the 29th December and was given a delivery date of the 15th February. They put the full amount on my Argos card £697 and I have already paid over a £100 off it. I received a call on the 13th February telling me that it wouldnt be delivered. I was offered another television but it was not a smart 3D so i refused.

I contacted there CUSTOMER SERVICES and explained my problem and that I had upgraded my sky package to include 3D so why would I accept a television that was not 3D enabled. The manager said he 'understood' my complaint but all he could do was to offer me the next model up and give me a £100 discount on this as a 'goodwill gesture'. I had to refuse this offer as I would still have to pay and extra £180 which I can not afford.

The conversation ended with him telling me he would return my £100 and there was nothing else they could do.. I have sent a complaint via their online form and I have emailed there whole board of directors (I guessed a few email addresses).

Can anyone tell me if I am wasting my time please? Do I have grounds for a complaint and if so will I get anywhere? Has anyone else had this happen to them and if so what did they do and who did they contact?

I am so angry right now as this was a gift for my partners 50th... any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dave
