    Okay

so i was winding you all up and didn't get a laptop.

I am one of the poor people that all you lot keep ringing and bugging us, and shouting down the phone at LXDirect, it's not our fault so there is no need to keep on at us.

You didn't get your cheep laptops, that were a mis-description and you never will!

    Hard luck

Was that statement authorised by LXDirect before being published ?

    Dear XXXXXXXXXX
Our website recently displayed a Toshiba Laptop and associated software at an incorrect price. You placed an order for the laptop at the incorrect price, which we have already declined.

However, we do value your custom and as a goodwill gesture, we would like to offer you the Toshiba A100 laptop and your choice of either Microsoft Office Home and Student software or Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition software with a 25% discount off the correct selling price which is now displayed on our website. .

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call 08450 757 171 and one of our customer service advisors will process your request.

    Kind Regards
    The Online Customer Care team

Alot of us have got this.

I've just twigged something else too - everyones posting about buying a laptop AND software. The original item was Both in 1. Just checked the Toshiba laptops currently on Littlewoods site, and there is No such thing still listed at any price.

So... for the 'Misprice' statement they sent to me to be true - the item I ordered would still need to be available (under ANY product code would do..) for me to go back and re-buy. It isn't there. They didn't mis-price, they listed a product they are no longer selling. It just gets Worse and Worse for littlewoods...! :)

And this is exactly what i pointed out to both trading standards AND watchdog. it is not a misprice it is misleading/false advertising as they didnt have the item i purchased to sell to me anyway
  • This is rediculous, They took money from my account, then yesterday i got the email saying that there was a price error and i would not be getting the laptop and it is cancelled, but STILL they have not given my money back, what's going on? do they think they can just keep that £224

Been posted before that in the T&C's (which how many of us actually read?) is the following sentence:-

'Your order will be accepted by us (and a contract will then be formed between us) when we despatch the goods to you.'

So is that their 'get out clause'?

Well its laptop (£579) - 25% = 434.25 with FREE software of your choice.
So if you manage to sale the Vista at about 150 on ebay it will be practically
    284.25

See my previous post... I called and confirmed this

Also you can not apply any quidco/other voucher on top of that...

The confusion deepens and littlewoods answers are not consistent ... I just rang and asked what is the deal.

Man on phone said laptop only .... I asked if software, he said no you have to buy that separately. Then I asked in that case, what are you giving discount on, just the laptop or the whole price if I want the software which I would have been getting with my original order. He went quiet for a bit and then said probably both (with such uncertainty in his voice).

Anyone else had a result/answer to confirm/dismiss what is on offer.

I'm still waiting to hear... can't get into my account- would that be because of this or because it was new? I ordered the £149 one- I have been loking through the thread but everyone seems to be mentioning the £249 one. I know I'm unlikely (:o understatement) to get it but wondered if others who ordered this one had heard.
  • Don't want to be bearer of bad news but I just rang the number in my e-mail again to see what answers I got regarding how I use the 25% email. Again they came back with the answer its laptop only no free software just as per the current description on website (this one even checked with supervisor). If you want the software you can get the discount off it but you only have the following choices (with each item ordered and discounted separately):

    a100 latop (£579) and vista premium (£239) = £818 - 25% = £614
    a100 latop (£579) and office 2007(£129) = £708- 25% = £531
    a100 laptop only (£579) - 25% = £434
Don't bother and ignore the offer altogether, no laptop, no software, £0

The laptop I have been quoted for is £486.xx with the discount through Littlewoods and £434.xx with LX Direct. I asked why there was £50 difference and was told it was because there are different terms and conditons with the two companies... and....yes, this was with the software - PR4477-£649. Despite all the rage and disappointment on this thread about the way the item has been handled, can I ask is this still a good deal for £434 because I am genuinely on the hunt for a lappy.
